BREAKING: Rampage At Trump Tower
October 8, 2017 William Widener
Chicago is no stranger to violence, but this latest display of violence hit close to home for the Trump family.

Last week, a Philadelphia man snapped at a restaurant in Chicago’s Trump Tower, going on a destructive rampage. According to Chicago Tribune, the man is now facing felony charges after destroying more than $10,000 worth of furniture. Surveillance cameras caught the man in his rampage, which included flipping over tables, throwing chairs, breaking glass, and pouring wine on upholstered furniture and carpet.

Holdson Marcelin, 36, went on a rampage in Sixteen, the restaurant named for its place on the tower’s 16th floor. In addition to surveillance footage, witnesses captured the act on cell phone video. He was held by hotel security until police arrived to make the arrest. Marcelin was charged with one count of felony criminal damage between $10,000 and $100,000.

Police did not say what Marcelin’s motives were for the violent outburst, or the reason for his presence in Chicago. The next day, he appeared in bond court, and was ultimately released on his own recognizance.

Chicago is well known for its anti-Trump behavior.

In September, several Congressmen were arrested outside Trump Tower in Chicago for demonstrating in support of immigrants and against the President’s repeal of DACA. Representatives Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) and Raul Grijalva (D-AZ) were among those arrested for charges of civil disobedience for obstructing the sidewalk and refusing to move.

“We’re taking the necessary steps to make it clear to President Trump, the Republicans and the Democrats that we will continue this peaceful fight for Dreamers and immigrants as long as it takes to enact legislation and put Dreamers in a safe place,” Gutierrez said of the demonstration.

Additionally, this August, hundreds of protesters marched through Chicago to denounce white supremacy and the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia. The protest found itself before Trump Tower, where signs and chants criticized the president for accusations of racism.

According to CBS Chicago, “the protest ended at Chicago’s Trump Tower because a lot of the messages here — the anger and frustration — were geared toward the president after he blamed ‘many sides’ for violence [in Charlottesville].” This comes in spite of the fact that Trump denounced both sides for violence.

The protest was the second to occur following the Charlottesville events. Among the demonstrators was the Refuse Facism group, which has a history of violence. Three arrests were made in the demonstrations, although participants claimed it was a peaceful display against violence.

These outlandish demonstrations stretch back even further.

Property damage rampage at Trump Tower costs $10,000. Does this enhance the credibility of the anti-Trumpers?

Do these activities enhance the credibility of anti-Trumpers?

During the campaign trail in March 2016, Trump had to cancel a planned rally because of “safety reasons” after an unprecedented display of violence.

Then, the Trump campaign released a statement: “Mr. Trump just arrived in Chicago, and after meeting with law enforcement, has determined that for the safety of all of the tens of thousands of people that have gathered in and around the arena, tonight’s rally will be postponed to another date,” before concluding with a call for peace.

Trump Tower appears to be a frequent target for Leftist demonstrations and protests against the president, regardless of his actual presence there. As liberals continue to protest nearly everything Trump says and does, it’s likely that this trend will continue.
