Hollywood Icon Steve McQueen Came to Christ Before Death; Pastor Greg Laurie Reveals Details in Book
May 9, 2017 | 4:55 PM
Internationally renowned evangelist Pastor Greg Laurie of Harvest Ministries is revealing the salvation story of legendary actor Steve McQueen in his newest book, Steve McQueen: The Salvation of an American Icon, which will be followed by a documentary film.

(Photo: SundariPR)Pastor Greg Laurie to release book and movie on the life and salvation of American icon Steve McQueen, May 2017.
Steve McQueen, which hits shelves June 13, follows the life of the No.1 movie star of his time. Also known as the "King of Cool, McQueen is now immortalized in pop culture through his hit movies "The Magnificent Seven," "The Great Escape," and "Bullitt."

It was McQueen's legendary car chases and death-defying stunts that drew many fans, including Pastor Laurie.

"That story was so fascinating to so many because the mystique of Steve McQueen continues to this day," said Laurie in a statement shared with The Christian Post. "Steve McQueen wasn't cool because he drove the Bullitt car. The Bullitt car was cool because Steve McQueen drove it."

"Notwithstanding all his fame and wealth, a colossal vacuum lived rent-free in his heart, a yawning chasm. A lot of people do not know about McQueen's hardscrabble beginnings. He was born into the home of an alcoholic mother and a father that left him early in life, he found himself on the wrong side of the law more than once. McQueen chased after every pleasure this planet had to offer."

The Conversion of Steve McQueen (VIDEO 9.5mins)
The book journeys through McQueen's childhood, his colossal success and his relentless pursuit for purpose outside of Hollywood, which ultimately led to his conversion to Christianity shortly before his early death from malignant mesothelioma.
McQueen's rough life initially led him to search for purpose in Hollywood. He had the best and fastest cars money could buy, multiple women, including two divorces, and eventually found himself in his own battle with drug and alcohol abuse, a fact well-known throughout the media.

What many do not know, however, is that before his death in 1980 at age 50, McQueen came to faith in Jesus Christ.

"In a significant turn toward the end of his life, ironically, just before he found out that he had cancer and while still the top movie star on earth, Steve did something that showed me that he really was 'the coolest of them all.' He put his faith in God and became a believer in Jesus Christ," said Laurie, who has an exact replica of McQueen's 1967 Bullitt Mustang.

"In many ways, our lives ran in parallel. I don't mean to suggest I am on McQueen's level of 'cool' in any way, but we both had troubled early years, fathers that left home, we were both raised by a single mother and we both got into more than a little trouble. Our stories diverge around the age of twenty, when I came to faith in Jesus and McQueen went to Hollywood. Ironically they came back together again when he became a Christian. That's the life-changing story we uncover through this amazing journey, and it's a story McQueen, in his own words, worried he'd never be able to share with the world. Now, almost forty years after his step into heaven, he'll finally get the chance."

Steve McQueen: The Salvation of an American Icon was co-authored with Marshall Terrill (the acclaimed expert on all things Steve McQueen). Together, Laurie and Terrill traveled the country interviewing many of those who knew McQueen best and were with him in his last days.

This venture is also now in production as a documentary film about McQueen.

The film is being directed by filmmaker Jon Erwin ("Moms' Night Out," "Woodlawn," "October Baby") and includes on-camera interviews with many of the same people mentioned in the book with a special appearance by an avid Steve McQueen fan — Hollywood megastar Mel Gibson. The film is scheduled for a September release.

For more information on the film and to pre-order the book, Steve McQueen: The Salvation of an American Icon, visit Laurie's site.

Anne Graham Lotz, a renowned evangelist and Billy Graham's daughter, concluded the 2017 National Day of Prayer by leading those gathered for the observance at the United States Capitol Thursday night and those watching at home in a repentance of "national sins."
(God.tv/Screengrab)Evangelist Anne Graham Lotz, daughter of Billy Graham, speaks during the 2017 National Day of Prayer Observance at the United States Capitol on May 4, 2017 in Washington, D.C.
Hours after President Donald Trump signed an executive order on "religious liberty" and a proclamation for the National Day of Prayer, the 68-year-old Lotz, who chaired the National Day of Prayer Task Force, gave the keynote message at the annual National Day of Prayer observance on Capitol Hill.

"Our nation is in trouble and we had some wonderful things [happen] today," Lotz said early in her remarks, adding that she was in attendance at the White House when the president signed the executive order. "I praise God for the liberty that we have. In fact, I was telling Sammy Rodriguez before this that it's almost mind blowing that America has to have an executive order to guarantee religious liberty in America, which shows how far we have fallen from our foundation of faith in the living God."
Lotz continued by asserting that the United States has fallen so far from grace and warned that "if we forsake Him, He will forsake us."

Trump Gifted With Page From Original King James Bible Before Signing Religious Liberty EO
May 5, 2017 | 12:27 PM
Members of President Trump's evangelical advisory board gave him a framed page from the original King James Bible at the White House on Wednesday, ahead of the National Day of Prayer when the president signed an executive order protecting religious liberty.
During the Rose Garden ceremony on Thursday, Vice President Mike Pence spoke about religious freedom and the importance of faith in the United States, introducing Trump as a believer and a man who "loves his family and loves his country with an unshakeable faith in God."
Wednesday night, Trump hosted a dinner at the White House with members of the evangelical advisory board where Dr. Richard Land, president of the Southern Evangelical Seminary and executive editor of The Christian Post, was in attendance.
"It's obvious that he is comfortable around evangelicals; it's obvious that he likes us and he's fascinated by us. I don't think he was around people like us much before he ran for president," Land said in an interview with CP on Thursday.

Actor Brad Pitt, who has identified as an atheist despite his Baptist upbringing, opened up in a recent interview about how his parents moved toward the charismatic tradition, and about some of his frustrations with Christianity.

Brad Pitt arrives at the premiere of the movie "Allied" in Madrid, Spain.
"We grew up First Baptist, which is the cleaner, stricter, by-the-book Christianity. Then, when I was in high school, my folks jumped to a more charismatic movement, which got into speaking in tongues and raising your hands and some goofy-a** [expletive]," Pitt told GQ magazine in an interview released on Wednesday.
When asked whether he witnessed the speaking of tongues himself, the actor replied:
"Yeah, come on. I'm not even an actor yet, but I know ... I mean the people, I know they believe it. I know they're releasing something. God, we're complicated. We're complicated creatures."
Pitt has left Christianity and is now an atheist, The Telegraph reported in 2015 in a separate interview with Pitt, where the actor said that since an early age, he was instilled "with all the Christian guilt about what you can and cannot, should and shouldn't do."
In 2007, he admitted that his religious upbringing created some conflict within him.
"I'd go to Christian revivals and be moved by the Holy Spirit, and I'd go to rock concerts and feel the same fervor," he said at the time. "Then I'd be told, 'That's the devil's music! Don't partake in that!' I wanted to experience things religion said not to experience."
Pitt explained in the latest GQ interview how in some sense, his acting career bloomed out of his upbringing, from his fascination of different stories people told.

Famine of 'Biblical Proportions' Descending Upon Yemen; Child Dying Every 10 Minutes

Yemen's civil war has brought the country on the brink of a famine of "biblical proportions," humanitarian aid workers said, with a child dying every 10 minutes, according to some.
Malnourished girl Jamila Ali Abdu, 7, lies on a hospital bed before she died in the Red Sea port city of Hodeidah, Yemen May 2, 2017.
Jan Egeland, who heads the Norwegian Refugee Council and also advises the United Nations on Syrian humanitarian operations, told Reuters on Thursday that Yemen's civil war might be less known than Syria's, but it has led to a major disaster as well.
"All our efforts through the World Food Programme reached 3.1 million of seven million people who are on the brink of famine. So it means basically that four million people got nothing in April and these people are staring into the naked eye of starvation," Egeland said.

7 Reasons Why Your Smartphone Is Bilbo's Ring
May 5, 2017 | 7:16 AM
The views expressed by the author do not necessarily reflect the editorial opinion of The Christian Post or its editors.
1) You randomly worry that you don't have it, check your pocket, your heart rate quickens, you check your other pocket, find it, and then slowly calm back down again.
(Photo: The Lord of the Rings Facebook/Screengrab)Gollum has the ring. Scene from "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King."
2) Your phone is powerful and magical. 10 years ago, if you told someone all the things your phone would do, they would have thought of it as magic. Your phone also gives you the power to do everything you would need to do to run a Fortune 500 company for weeks from thousands of miles away.
3) You think sometimes of getting rid of your phone, but every time you get ready to throw it away, you step back from the edge and change your mind.
4) To the observer at a distance, for hours on end each day, you look at it, make faces at it, touch it and stroke it and talk to it.
5) Your phone, as studies suggest, through the course of months and years, slowly changes you into a different version of yourself.
6) Your phone gives you the impression that you have great power and are in control (see number 2 above) but it actually ultimately gives much more power to "the great eye" (i.e. Apple, Google, Microsoft, Samsung) who, as everyone knows, is storing and cataloging and quantifying every move we make and every single act we perform with our phones, handing over to such corporations an ability to "dominate all life."
7) When you use your phone, you disappear to all those around you and are instantly transported to something that is like reality, but is a warped and clouded version of it.

CINCINNATI, Ohio — An Ohio couple with five children has adopted six siblings in foster care who wanted to stay together as a family.
Christopher and Christina Sanders of Forest Park had made an agreement prior to becoming foster parents that they would keep the children, and would always keep siblings together, no matter how many.
“We just made the agreement [that] whoever we get, we will keep them,” Christina, 41, told reporters. “It was rough, but we did it. And we are happy we did.”
In 2014, the Carsons took in six children whose parents had been addicted to drugs: Coby, 16, Christan, 14, Caleb, 13, Cayley, 12, Carson, 10, and Chloe, 9.
The couple already had five biological children, and their names also all began with the letter C: Christopher, Cameron, Caden, Chaz and Caitlyn.
On Thursday, surrounded by family members, friends from church, social service workers and the children’s school teachers, the Sanders made the six an official part of their family in Hamilton County Adoption Court.
“I love those children as if they were my bios,” Christopher Sanders told local television station WLWT.

GRAPEVINE, Texas — Representatives for prosperity preacher Benny Hinn have confirmed that the federal government is “reviewing certain operations” following a raid on Hinn’s Texas office.
“As has been widely reported, Benny Hinn Ministries is cooperating fully with the governmental entities that are reviewing certain operations of the Church,” a social media post released on Thursday read.
“The ministry has undergone intense scrutiny over the years, and we remain confident that there will again be a positive and speedy outcome in the days ahead,” it said.
The post generated over 12k likes as of press time.
As previously reported, federal investigators raided Hinn’s Grapevine office after obtaining a warrant on Wednesday. Benny Hinn Ministries and World Healing Center Church are both located approximately half an hour outside of Dallas.
U.S. Postal Service inspectors and IRS criminal investigators were seen carrying out boxes throughout the day.
“It looked like a big raid: people everywhere, police people everywhere out there, and just rushing in,” John Ebert, who works next door, also told local television station NBC Dallas-Fort Worth.

TAMPA, Fla. — A religious liberties organization has submitted a letter of complaint to a school district in Florida after being contacted by parents who say that their child’s math teacher is promoting homosexual advocacy in the classroom. The teacher denies any wrongdoing.
Attorneys with Liberty Counsel wrote to Hillsborough County Superintendent Jeff Eakins on April 19 to express concern about Riverview High School teacher Lora Jane Reidas, who identifies as a lesbian. They advised that they had received reports that three children in Reidas’ classroom had been prohibited from wearing crucifixes because they could be considered to be “gang symbols” and “disrespectful.”
It provided a photograph of one of the crucifix pendants.

Trump Signs Religious Freedom Executive Order in Front of Interfaith Gathering at White House
By Heather Clark on May 4, 2017108 Comments
WASHINGTON — During an interfaith gathering at the White House, President Trump signed an executive order on Thursday—the National Day of Prayer—upholding religious freedom in the nation and directing departments in his administration to ensure that the rights of religious Americans are not infringed.
“We are a nation of believers. Faith is deeply embedded into the history of our country,” he said, delivering a speech from the White House rose garden, surrounded by various evangelical, Catholic and Jewish leaders, including Paula White, Jack Graham and Donald Wuerl.
Orthodox, Muslim and Sikh representatives also sat in the audience, and Trump advised that he would be traveling to Rome, Saudi Arabia and Israel this month—the centers of Roman Catholic, Muslim and Jewish faiths.
Trump noted that in 1863, President Abraham Lincoln called the nation’s inhabitants to prayer, fearing that Americans had become “too proud to pray to the God that made us.”

Fired Pennsylvania Youth Leader Pleads Guilty to Impregnating Teenager
By Heather Clark on May 1, 201739 Comments
WEST CHESTER, Pa. — A former youth leader in Pennsylvania has pleaded guilty to impregnating a teenager who had looked up to him as a father figure in her life.
“I want to say I am deeply sorry for the way my weaknesses have hurt [the victim] and my family,” Jacob Malone, 35, and married father of three said during his sentencing hearing on Friday. “I recognize that it was my responsibility to keep our relationship from becoming inappropriate, and I betrayed that.”
According to reports, Malone first met the girl while working at a church in Mesa, Arizona. As she had grown up without a father, she looked up to Malone, who invited the girl in 2014 to stay with his family after he moved to Minnesota to take another ministerial position.
Later that year, Malone again moved, this time to Pennsylvania, to take a job at Calvary Fellowship in Exton. He became the legal guardian of the teen and registered her a local high school.

WASHINGTON — A Texas lawmaker tearfully implored God to forgive the manifold sins of the nation this week during a prayer gathering at the U.S. capitol.
Rep. Randy Weber delivered a prayer at Wednesday’s “Washington—A Man of Prayer” event, which was organized to honor the life of America’s first president, George Washington.
“‘Washington—A Man of Prayer’ commemorates the events of April 30, 1789, when, after being sworn in at Federal Hall, President Washington, accompanied by Congress, proceeded to St. Paul’s Chapel where, as one of his first official acts, the president offered a prayer of dedication to God on America’s behalf,” the event website outlines.

Judge Allows Advancement of Lawsuit Challenging Denial of ‘Atheist Prayer’ Before Pennsylvania House
By Heather Clark on April 30, 2017422 Comments
HARRISBURG, Pa. — A federal judge has allowed the advancement of parts of a lawsuit filed by a coalition of atheist groups upset that unbelievers cannot present a prayer before the Pennsylvania House of Representatives just like Christian chaplains.
As previously reported, since its initial formation in 1682, the Pennsylvania House has invited a chaplain to offer a prayer at the opening of each meeting. The House’s general operating rules require that those delivering the invocation be “a member of a regularly established church or religious organization or shall be a member of the House of Representatives.”
Nonetheless, in 2014, Carl Silverman with Pennsylvania Nonbelievers contacted House leaders to apply to serve as chaplain and deliver an invocation before the House.
“We do not believe that governmental bodies are required to allow non-adherents or nonbelievers the opportunity to serve as chaplains,” Samuel Smith, the former Speaker of the House, replied to Silverman in denying his request. “We disagree with your assertion that the House may not disallow atheists from serving as chaplains.”

Dove ‘Real Moms’ Commercial Features Father Who Identifies as Mother
By Heather Clark on April 29,
A recently-released commercial from the popular personal hygiene company Dove, which centers on the lives of “real moms,” includes a father who identifies as the co-mother of his child.
“Meet #RealMoms whose diverse parenting styles shatter stereotypes about motherhood and prove that there are no rules about how to be a parent today,” a description of advertisement, released on April 6, reads.
Mothers from various vocational backgrounds share their personal thoughts about parenting in the nearly two-minute production, from a cattle rancher to a dance instructor to a rock climber. Included in the mix is a man named Shea, who identifies as a woman. He explains that both he and his wife are the biological parents of their infant son.
“You get people who are like, ‘What do you mean [that] you’re the mom?'” Shea states. “We’re like, ‘We’re both going to be moms!”
His wife smiles as he laughs about the concept.
Shea also later advises that “[t]here’s no one right way to do it all” in motherhood.
However, the group One Million Moms, has expressed concern about the commercial and Dove’s inclusion of a man as a “real mom.”

Children Must Be Taught Transgenderism, Homosexuality Starting in Nursery School, Teachers Say
An organization of teachers in the U.K. has argued that homosexuality and transgenderism should be taught to young children starting in nursery school.
Members of the National Union of Teachers group voted for a measure at a conference in Cardiff to "campaign to ensure a comprehensive age-appropriate content including promotion of LGBT+ matters for all schools from nursery throughout all phases of state education," The Evening Telegraph reported on Tuesday.

Annette Pryce, a NUT executive member from Buckinghamshire, claimed that the U.K. government hasn't been doing enough to promote inclusion.

"Those generations of young LGBT people who have been failed by the system are still not told explicitly in the law that their lives are important too," Pryce said.

"The NUT ... needs to ensure that SRE is inclusive to LGBT young people now and forever."

Education Secretary Justine Greening announced back in March that age appropriate sex and relationships guidance is to be made compulsory for all children, though it allowed parents and faith schools to opt out of the new rules.

U.K. ministers have been facing "mounting pressure" to respond to concerns that children are not being educated about online porn, cyber bullying and sexting, the Telegraph said.

Conservatives, such as Andrea Williams, chief executive at Christian Concern, have warned that teaching statutory sex education to 4-year-olds can be "devastating" and risks "robbing them of their innocence," however.

"Children [age 4] should not be introduced to this. Schools need to be safe places where the innocence of children is protected," Williams said in February.

The Shack' Cover Artist Renounces Book for Leading People Astray: 'I Have Deep Regrets
Apr 19, 2017 | 3:40 PM
Dave Aldrich, the graphic artist behind the controversial best-selling novel "The Shack," recently said he has "deep regrets" for promoting a book that leads to apostasy.
"Over 10 years ago, I was captivated by the story and felt honored to be part of the graphic creation of the book. I was so drawn into it, wanting to know the God it portrayed," the Aldrich Design artist posted to social media on April 4. "The Shack's story wonderfully painted this picture to me of an incredibly knowable and loving God, one full of forgiveness, but without being judgmental."
Aldrich's sentiments, however, were short lived and with the release of the film he felt he had to say something.
"I have deep regrets now of not just being involved with it but also in promoting it. The movie release of 'The Shack' has brought all this back to my mind and I felt the need to apologize to all who I may have led astray by my promoting the book," he added.
Aldrich said that reading the novel led him to other authors such as Rob Bell and Brian McLaren, who "started out on the straight and narrow, having solid biblical beliefs, but strayed off into apostasy land." He confessed that he found himself almost accepting universalist beliefs because of his lack of discernment.
After breaking his silence several people reached out to Aldrich in appreciation for his transparency.
Aldrich also admitted that he initially credited The Shack for portraying God as non-judgmental and all-loving, but his feelings changed when he realized the danger of that one-sided portrayal of God, adding that it doesn't show Him as a judge of sin.
The film's synopsis says the cinematic journey will take viewers on a "father's uplifting spiritual journey."
"After suffering a family tragedy, Mack Phillips [Sam Worthington] spirals into a deep depression causing him to question his innermost beliefs. Facing a crisis of faith, he receives a mysterious letter urging him to go to an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Despite his doubts, Mack journeys to the shack and encounters an enigmatic trio of strangers led by a woman named Papa [Octavia Spencer]. Through this meeting, Mack finds important truths that will transform his understanding of his tragedy and change his life forever."
Although Young and Shack supporters argue that the book and film are fictional and just imagery, Aldrich believes — based on the statements of its author — that the work is trying to pass as theology.

US Ends Funding for UN Population Fund Over Complicity in Chinese Forced Abortions

Feng Jianmei looks at her baby girl after Chinese officials forcibly aborted the child.
WASHINGTON — The Trump administration has ended government funding for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) over concerns about its complicity in China’s one-child/two-child policy—an accusation that the organization denies.
According to reports, U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Corker received a letter this week from the U.S. State Department advising him of the development.
“This determination was made based on the fact that China’s family planning policies still involve the use of coercive abortion and involuntary sterilization, and UNFPA partners on family planning activities with the Chinese government agency responsible for these coercive policies,” the letter read.
The Associated Press reports that the $32.5 million that had previously been earmarked for UNFPA will instead be funneled to the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), which works to lower maternal mortality rates and reduce gender-based violence in foreign countries.
After China announced in 2015 that it was changing its one-child population control policy to two-child, New Jersey Rep. Chris Smith denounced the UNFPA as being partially responsible for the deaths of the unborn.
“For the past 35 years the Chinese government has wasted precious human potential and sanctioned state-sponsored violence against women and children–enabled by pro-abortion groups globally and the United Nations Population Fund,” he said. “No one should applaud China’s announced ‘two-child’ policy; instead we should be insisting they abolish intrusive and abusive birth restrictions forever.”

California AG Who Charged Man Behind Undercover Videos Received Campaign Donations From Planned Parenthood
By Heather Clark on April 1, 201727 Comments
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The California attorney general who charged the pro-life investigator behind the 2014-2015 undercover Planned Parenthood videos with 15 felonies this week had previously been praised by the abortion and contraception giant and received campaign donations from the organization for many of his House re-election bids.
Democratic Congressman Xavier Becerra had been appointed by Gov. Jerry Brown to replace former Attorney General Kamala Harris after she was elected in November to serve in the Senate. Following his appointment, Planned Parenthood released a statement praising Becerra for his abortion advocacy.
“Rep. Becerra is a long-time champion for women’s reproductive rights and health,” said President Cecile Richards. “As a former California deputy attorney general, he understands the importance of a woman’s right to access the full range of health care, including safe, legal abortion.”

South Carolina Lawmakers Considering Bill Declaring Unborn as Protected Persons
By Heather Clark on April 4,
COLUMBIA, S.C. — Lawmakers in South Carolina are currently considering a bill that would declare that the unborn have protection as persons.
Lt. Gov. Kevin Bryant recently introduced S. 217, also known as the Personhood Act of South Carolina. It simply recognizes that both the federal and state Constitutions acknowledge God as being the Creator of life and the bestower of liberty.
“The General Assembly acknowledges that all persons are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights,” it reads in part. “The General Assembly acknowledges that personhood is God-given, as all men are created in the image of God.”
“The rights guaranteed by Article I, Section 3 of the Constitution of this State, that no person shall be deprived of life without due process of law nor denied the equal protection of the laws, vest at fertilization for each born and preborn human being,” the bill continues.

An American pastor who has been imprisoned in Turkey since last October is pleading for President Trump and his administration to work more fervently for his release.
“I plead with my government—with the Trump administration—to fight for me. I ask the State Department to impose sanctions. I appeal to President Trump: Please help me. Let the Turkish government know that you will not cooperate with them in any way until they release me,” Andrew Munson wrote in a statement released by the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ). “Please do not leave me here in prison.”
As previously reported, Brunson and his wife Norine, who have been living in Turkey for over 20 years, were detained in Izmir in October. They were accused of having “membership in an armed terrorist organization,” specifically Fetullah Gulen, which is believed to have instigated a military coup against the government in July. Brunson leads Protestant Resurrection Church in the city.

Indiana Senate Passes Bill Protecting Religious Expression in Public Schools
By Heather Clark on April 3,
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The Indiana Senate has passed a bill meant to protect religious expression in public schools.
H.B. 1024 passed 44-5 on Thursday despite opposition from groups like the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).
“House Bill 1024 only puts prayer back into schools. It does not mandate or force students to participate in it,” said sponsor Rep. John Bartlett, D-Indianapolis. “It is giving Hoosiers the ability to express their faith without fearing discrimination.”
“It also brings clarification to the First Amendment, which allows people to practice their faith. However, it restricts you from forcing your faith on others,” he said.
The bill passed the passed the House 83-12 last month, and went on to clear a Senate Committee 8-2 weeks later.

Junk Science’? Biblical Creation Group Included on List of Disreputable Websites
By Garrett Haley on April 3, 2017983 Comments
A prominent Creation science group is pushing back after their website was included on a widely-shared list of allegedly untrustworthy sources and described as “junk science.”
After “fake news” became a subject of national discussion during the 2016 presidential election, Melissa Zimdars, an assistant professor of communication at Merrimack College, compiled an online document that lists disreputable websites and news sources.
Originally created as a resource for her students, Zimdars’s document lists hundreds of “false, misleading, clickbait-y, and satirical” websites.
“Obviously, fake news is a major problem,” Zimdars wrote in a column for The Washington Post. “We need to make sure people have the tools to detect it, and we need to understand why people may purposefully share news they know to be fake—maybe they’re being malicious, they think it’s funny or it aligns with what they want to be true. And we definitely need to find ways to discourage the production of non-comedy, non-satire fake news.”
Zimdars’s document has since been widely shared on social media sites and spotlighted by numerous news outlets. Harvard University published a link to the list on their library’s “Fake News, Misinformation, and Propoganda” page, along with an infographic warning students not to get “taken in” by fake news.

Appeals Court Rules ‘Sexual Orientation’ Applies as Sex Discrimination Under Civil Rights Act
By Heather Clark on April 6, 201786 Comments

CHICAGO — A federal appeals court has ruled that “sexual orientation” can fall under the interpretation of sex discrimination in the federal Civil Rights Act, a decision that the dissenting judges found to be a stretch.
The Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals concluded 8-3 on Tuesday that while Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1967—which prohibits employment discrimination on the basis of “race, color, religion, sex or national origin”—does not include the term “sexual orientation,” the existing inclusion of “sex” can apply because the discrimination surrounds a person’s actions not being normative for their sex.
“The logic of the Supreme Court’s decisions, as well as the common-sense reality that it is actually impossible to discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation without discriminating on the basis of sex, persuade us that the time has come to overrule our previous cases,” the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals wrote.
“We [therefore] hold only that a person who alleges that she experienced employment discrimination on the basis of her sexual orientation has put forth a case of sex discrimination for Title VII purposes,” it concluded.

Teen Who Threw Newborn Out Window Won’t Do Jail Time, Must Delete Facebook Due to Uproar Over Crime
By Heather Clark on March 27, 201713 Comments
OMAHA, Neb. — A Nebraska teenager who threw her newborn baby out the window won’t be spending any time behind bars, but instead has been ordered to therapy, community service and probation, and must delete her Facebook account due to outrage from thousands upset over the girl’s crime.
Antonia Lopez, 16, gave birth in the middle of the night on September 30, and after throwing the child out of her second-story bedroom window, told her mother what she had done.
Her mother, “distraught and frantic,” then called 911. Both Lopez and her baby were transported to Creighton University Medical Center, but the child was pronounced dead upon arrival. The baby was determined to be between 25 and 28 weeks gestation.
Lopez allegedly told police that she didn’t know she was pregnant and therefore panicked, but her boyfriend disputed the assertion and said that he had urged Lopez to tell her mother about the pregnancy and see a doctor. He advised that she texted him at 2 a.m. the morning she gave birth, “It was a girl by the the way,” and requested help to hide the baby.
Lopez was soon arrested and charged with one count of felony child abuse resulting in death. She faced up to 20 years in prison for the crime.
However, last month, Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine agreed to move Lopez’ case from district court to juvenile court since she only had a prior theft charge on her record. He opined the the best course of action for the teen would be rehabilitation.

RICHMOND, Va. — The Democratic governor of Virginia has vetoed a religious freedom bill which would have prohibited the government from punishing those who believe in biblical marriage and conduct their public lives in accordance with that conviction.
“Although couched as a ‘religious freedom’ bill, this legislation is nothing more than an attempt to stigmatize,” Gov. Terry McAuliffe asserted in a statement on Thursday in rejecting S.B. 2314 and H.B. 2025.
“No person shall be required to participate in the solemnization of any marriage, or subject to any penalty by the Commonwealth, or its political subdivisions or representatives or agents, notwithstanding any other provision of law, solely on account of such person’s belief, speech, or action in accordance with a sincerely held religious belief or moral conviction that marriage is or should be recognized as the union of one man and one woman,” the vetoed legislation read.

LOS ANGELES — Newly-released undercover footage from the Center for Medical Progress captures a Planned Parenthood abortionist laughing about how much force is required to dismember babies when chemical agents aren’t used, and joking that she first thought she needed to go to the gym just to get in shape to perform a dilation and evacuation procedure.
“Research shows that Dig (short for Digoxin) doesn’t make the procedure easier in someone who is well trained, but I have to tell you anecdotally my biceps appreciate when the Dig works [to kill the baby],” DeShawn Taylor of Planned Parenthood Los Angeles stated, flexing her arm and giggling.
“It does not take me any longer to complete the procedure, but it takes more force,” she explained. “I remember when I was a fellow and I was training, I was like, ‘Oh, I have to hit the gym for this. I need to hit the gym.'”

Student Groups at Christian-Identified University Seeking Softer Policies on Homosexuality

WAYNE, Pa. — Two student groups at a Christian-identified university in Pennsylvania are asking that the school soften its policies on homosexuality, including removing language in its student handbook that defines marriage as being between a man and a woman.
Members of Eastern University’s “gay-straight alliance” club known as Refuge, as well as its Political Activism Club (PAC), teamed up to host “LGBT Solidarity Week” on campus March 13-17. Prior to the event, the groups also sent correspondence to the university board to ask that changes be made to the student handbook in accordance with recommendations from the Human Sexuality Task Force.
“This movement would like to advocate for changes that it does not feel are controversial, so as to make Eastern a more inclusive place for LGBT+ students,” a post on the Oddysey website reads.
The groups have requested, among other changes, that the university remove “homosexual conduct” from its citations of prohibited “moral turpitude” in the faculty handbook.

Montana House Advances Bill That Would Ban Sharia Law in State

HELENA, Mont. — The Montana House of Representatives has advanced a bill that would ban Sharia law in the state.
Senate Bill 97, sponsored by Keith Regier, R-Kalispell, passed mainly along party lines on Monday 56-44. While it does not specifically mention Sharia law, it was often the focus of discussion during debate.
“If you go back and listen to the testimony of the proponents of this bill in both the House and Senate, the legislative intent is crystal clear that it targets one religion,” Rep. Ellie Hill Smith, D-Missoula, said. “That this was a Shariah law bill. It’s what every proponent had talked about.”
“It is the public policy of this state to protect its citizens from the application of foreign law when the application of foreign law will violate a right guaranteed by the Montana constitution or the United States constitution, including but not limited to due process, freedom of religion, speech, or press, and any right of privacy or marriage as specifically defined by the constitution and the laws of this state,” the bill reads in part.
However, Republicans disagree that the legislation singles out Muslims and took offense at assertions that the bill is xenophobic.
“We’ve heard a lot of discussion about this being a religious law. I just don’t read it that way,” said Rep. Theresa Manzella, R-Hamilton. “We are born with rights and government exists to protect those rights. We’re given those rights as individuals and that’s what makes us better than other countries that are based on collective rights.”
Residents who support the measure made similar remarks.

Female Minister Who Identifies as Male Asserts: ‘God Is Transgender’ Mar 12, 2017 03:37 pm
Photo Credit: Twitter AUSTIN, Texas -- A female minister in Texas who identifies as male recently declared at the state capitol that "God is transgender" in expressing her opposition to a proposed bill that requires those using restrooms and locker rooms in government buildings and public schools to use the facility that corresponds with the gender on their birth certificate.
Seth Wynn, who leads Agape Metropolitan Community Church in Fort Worth, began her speech refuting another pastor who had cited the Book of Genesis in expressing support for the legislation.
“In the beginning, God created humankind in God’s image. God created them male and female, so God is transgender,” Wynn asserted, as those gathered erupted in cheers and applause.
“So, it’s important that we all remember that—that we’re all created in the image of what is holy and divine and sacred, and we should all be treated that way,” she added.

Our Mom Died’: Woman Finds Boy Who Left Heartbreaking Apology Note After Sister Stole Wind Chime Mar 14, 2017 12:02 pm
LAKEWOOD, Wash. -- A woman in Washington has located an 11-year-old boy who left an apology note on her doorstep and $5 after his sister took her wind chime because it reminded the children of their late mother. Christina Reitz said she heard a knock on her door a little over a week ago, and when she went to answer it, all she found was a note. "I am sorry
this is only money I have. Please do not be mad at us. Jake.”
The boy had also tucked a $5 bill inside.
Moved by the situation, Reitz launched a Facebook page in an effort to find the child. She named it “Jake’s Butterflies of Hope.”
“I lost my mom when I was five and my dad just almost six years ago. It’s just hard at any age. People grieve in different ways,” Reitz told reporters.
She said that while it is obviously wrong to steal, she wanted to give the boy his money back and gift him with another butterfly wind chime so that both he and his sister can have a momento to remind them of their mother.

Former Planned Parenthood Nurse: Abortionist Sorted Through Babies’ Remains to Ensure All Parts Removed Mar 15, 2017 06:03 am
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- A former nurse at a Planned Parenthood location in Indiana says that during her time at the facility, she observed the abortionist sifting through the body parts of unborn babies after killing them to ensure he got all the pieces out. Marianne Anderson worked at the Indianapolis facility for over two years, and once handed a note off to a sidewalk counselor that read, “I’ve worked here for a little over two years. I’m actively looking for something else. Please pray for me. I don’t want to be here.”
“It was a money-grubbing, evil, very sad, sad place to work,” she recounted in 2014. “You have to have so many [abortions] a month to stay open. In our meetings they’d tell us, ‘If abortions are down, you could get sent home early and not get as many hours.’”

Students Stumped Over Whether Christian Photographers Have Right to Decline ‘Gay Weddings’ Mar 14, 2017 06:01 am
MADISON, Wisc. -- Students who were recently interviewed at the University of Wisconsin (UW) in Madison appeared to be stumped when faced with the question as to whether or not Christian photographers have a right to decline to shoot events that conflict with their beliefs. The religious liberties organization Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) recently visited UW to ask students if they believe businesses should have the right to turn away an order if it conflicts with their beliefs.
A representative from ADF began by asking students if they believed designer Sophie Theallet had a right to decline to dress Melania Trump.
“Yeah, why not?” one student answered.
“You should be able to control your business in that regard, yeah,” another opined.
“So, you have the right to opt out of business that you might not want to associate yourself with?” ADF asked.
“Yes,” the student replied.

Judge Awards Tri-Custody of Child to Former Couple and Their ‘Polyamorous’ Lover Mar 13, 2017 05:34 pm
NEW YORK -- A New York judge has awarded tri-custody to a former couple and their neighbor, who they entered into a "polyamorous" relationship with over a decade ago. "Tri-custody is the logical evolution of the Court of Appeals decision in Brooke S.B., and the passage of the Marriage Equality Act and DRL §10-a which permits same-sex couples to marry in New York,” Suffolk County Supreme Court Judge Patrick Leis III wrote.
According to reports, in 2001, Michael and Dawn Marano began as friends to neighbor Audria Garcia, who was living with her boyfriend at the time. But when Garcia split with her significant other, she moved in with the Maranos, where she began to engage in “intimate relations” with both of them.
In 2006, Garcia became pregnant with Michael Marano’s child—an agreement made between the three since Dawn Marano was infertile—and they all raised the boy together. However, in 2008, Dawn Marano left her husband to solely be in a relationship with Garcia.

A website dedicated to marketing the controversial film “The Shack” states that 1,000 “faith leaders” have given their endorsement of the movie—a film that is based on William P. Young’s bestselling novel of the same name, which some say contains universalistic doctrine and teaches that God is all love and no holiness, wrath or justice.
The resource site for “The Shack” provides both written and recorded endorsements from many well-known entities, including leaders and representatives of The Salvation Army, Young Life, Family Christian Stores, The Christian Post, K-LOVE, CBN and TBN, to celebrities such as Michael W. Smith, Joel Houston of Hillsong United, Gospel artist Tasha Cobbs and Chip and Joanna Gaines of HGTV’s “Fixer Upper” show.
Numerous pastors and church leaders have lent their endorsement as well, including Kent Munsey of Hillsong Chicago, Samuel Rodriguez of New Season Church in Sacramento, California and leader of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, Kenneth Ulmer of Faithful Central Bible Church in Los Angeles, and Steve Munsey of Family Christian Center in Munster, Indiana.
“I would encourage all pastors to make sure that their congregation is able to see this movie,” said Charles Blake, the current presiding bishop of the Church of God in Christ (COGIC).
“Honestly, I was apprehensive about seeing it because I loved the book so much. What a wonderful surprise to have my expectations and hope exceeded. I love the message, the very believable message, that God is always with us doing more than we could ask or imagine,” stated Terry Meeuwsen, co-host of Pat Robertson’s “700 Club.”
“It’s not afraid to go into the real issues of life, which is pain, which is dealing with hurt and forgiveness, and what love is,” also remarked Houston of Hillsong, whose music is featured in the film. “And I think those are the things that actually connect with all humanity.”

LOS ANGELES — A 22-year-old California man who has spent $50,000 and undergone over 100 procedures in his quest to transition into a “genderless” alien told a British television show this week that he might adopt children someday.
“You’re young now. What about when you’re much older, when you’re a 70-year-old alien? Is there a worry that at any point that you might think, ‘Ugh, I knew what I was doing, I still feel like that, but I think I went too far?'” Phillip Schofield, co-host of “This Morning,” asked Vinny Ohh on the broadcast Monday.
“I do not see me having any regret when I’m 70. I see myself possibly adopting children and raising them just totally fine,” Ohh replied via a spatial-looking video link. “I don’t need sexual organs to do so. So, I don’t see myself regretting it, no.”
However, he noted that he has no interest in marrying anyone.
“No, I’m not interested in relationships. Having relationships in Los Angeles is not really a possibility, but also for someone who is gender non-conforming, gender non-binary, it’s hard in general to find someone,” Ohh stated.
“So, I don’t really care if someone’s going to fall in love with me or not,” he said. “I’m more in love with the kids and community of freaks and to make them not feel so weird.”
As previously reported, Ohh works as a makeup artist and part-time model. Because he felt like an outcast during his teenage years, he was motivated to pursue various facial surgeries to look extra-terrestrial.

The meeting was part of his television series “Believer,” which is said to feature the “world’s most fascinating faith-based groups.”
The Aghori, while identifying as worshipers of Shiva, the Hindu god of destruction, are condemned by mainstream Hindus for their practices, which includes drinking out of human skulls and eating the flesh of the dead. They also wear the ashes of cremated humans on their faces and consume their own urine and excrement.

Missouri Teen Tells Court Girl’s Murder Was Plotted as Satanic Sacrifice Mar 06, 2017 06:02 am
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -- A Missouri teenager has plead guilty to murdering another teen and says that the killing was part of a Satanic sacrifice. Amanda Bennett, 17, changed her plea last week from not guilty to guilty of second degree murder in the death of Kaytlin Root, also 17. She told the court that she and Sebastian Dowell, 18, had decided in October that they.
eeded to kill two people a year as part of the demonic religion.
Bennett said that she consequently “messaged a couple of depressed people” on Facebook, and when Root responded, she arranged to meet up with the girl in the park.
While the three walked along a jogging trail in Hyde Park, Bennett testified, she was advised by Dowell that it was time to carry out their plan. Bennett told the court that she struck Root with a stick, and then Dowell knocked the girl to the ground, choked her and inserted a syringe into her neck.

Judge Rejects ACLU’s Attempt to Recover $230K in Costs From Kim Davis Over ‘Gay Marriage’ License Legal Battle

FRANKFORT, Ky. — A federal judge has rejected the American Civil Liberties Union’s (ACLU) attempt to recover more than $230,000 in costs from Kentucky county clerk Kim Davis over its recent legal battle surrounding her refusal to issue marriage licenses to homosexuals as long as her name was on the document.
“[T]he plaintiffs are not ‘prevailing parties’ within the meaning of § 1988, and are therefore not entitled to an award of attorneys’ fees,” wrote U. S. Magistrate Judge Edward Atkins on Monday.
He noted that legislative changes—not a court ruling—brought an end to the legal matter, which was subsequently declared moot. Therefore, Atkins explained, the ACLU and the homosexuals it represented cannot be considered the victors in the case.

‘Beauty and the Beast’ Star Emma Watson Donates Money From Advice Booth to Planned Parenthood Mar 09, 2017 01:55 pm
"Beauty and the Beast" star Emma Watson recently donated proceeds from an advice booth to the abortion and contraceptive giant Planned Parenthood, declaring, "They're the best." Watson, also known for her role as Hermione Granger in the "Harry Potter" films, recently participated in "Vanity Fair's" video series "Derek Does Stuff With a Friend." In the segment host Derek Blasberg served as a walking advice booth at Grand Central Terminal in New York, where for $2 participants could ask Watson for her thoughts as she interacted live via Skype through Blasberg’s tablet. Questions ranged from how to announce a pregnancy, to relationship advice, to what to do for the day.
At one point, a young male participant praised Watson’s work with the women’s equality campaign “HeForShe” as being “inspiring,” which sparked her to inquire if the teen is a feminist.

HOUSTON, Texas — Two members of the Salvadoran gang MS-13, who are reportedly in the U.S. illegally, have been arrested and charged with kidnapping three teenage girls and killing one to appease Satan’s desire for a soul sacrifice.

Christian Physicist Says New Evidence of Africa’s Wet Past Points to Biblical Great Flood Mar 06, 2017 06:01 am
New research has confirmed that the dry, desolate climate of the Sahara Desert was once a lush tropical climate—an observation that correlates well with the predictions of biblical creationists, a physicist with the Institute for Creation Research says. A team of international researchers collected and analyzed marine sediments from off the coast of west Africa looking for clues into Africa’s climatological past. Their findings, published in the journal “Science Advances,” show that northern Africa was at one time much wetter than it is today.
“It was 10 times as wet as today,” said the study’s lead author, Jessica Tierney, in a press release from The University of Arizona.
Tierney and her colleagues found ancient leaf wax samples that reveal what the African climate was like several thousand years ago. The evidence suggests that the Sahara Desert, where annual rainfall now is usually less than five inches, was once lush and green.

Texas High School Makes Room Available for Muslim Students to Hold Friday Prayers Mar 10, 2017 06:01 am
FRISCO, Texas -- A high school in Texas has made one of its classrooms available for Muslim students to hold Friday or Jummah prayers after some students were leaving campus each week to participate in the prayers. “t kind of started when a core group of students were leaving campus every Friday for Friday prayer,” Liberty High School Principal Scott Warstler told the school publication Wingspan. “Their parents would come pick them up, so they may miss an hour and a half to two hours to two and a half hours of school every Friday.”
He decided to approach the students and offer space on campus so they wouldn’t miss class traveling elsewhere.
“So I met with those students and a couple of the parents and suggested, ‘Hey, would you be okay if the students led the prayer here at school as a group?'” Warstler recalled. “And we gave them a space to do that so that they didn’t have to be in a car traveling thirty minutes each way on a Friday missing an hour, [to] an hour and a half, of class.”

Wisconsin Teacher Placed on Leave After Using Ouija Board in Kindergarten Class
By Heather Clark on March 2, 201746 Comments

MILWAUKEE, Wisc. — A public school teacher in Wisconsin has been placed on leave after using an Ouija board in her kindergarten classroom.
The incident occurred at Zablocki Elementary in Milwaukee last week, although the teacher, who has not been identified, says that the board had been in the room since Halloween.
She had been contacted by a concerned parent who learned that her five-year-old son had been exposed to the activity. The boy told his mother that his teacher turned off the lights, took out the board, and began talking about scary stories.
“The kids have been asking for a scary story and I got the board and moved the paper clip to answer some of their questions. They asked about scary characters in movies,” the teacher responded to the parent via e-mail. “It was all done in fun.”
However, she said that she understood the parent’s concerns.
“I will take the board home and this won’t happen again,” she wrote.
The mother says that her son has been having nightmares since that day. She doesn’t believe kindergartners should be exposed to Ouija boards.

“He’s scared now to go to bed at night, to be in the dark, anything alone,” she told reporters.
The teacher has now been placed on leave while the school investigates.
“I’m happy that she’s being investigated. Maybe she’ll think twice about doing something in the future,” the mother told WISN-TV. She has now called for the teacher to be fired, and although she is being criticized for doing so, she says she believes she did what was right.
As previously reported, in December 2014, Google reported that searches for Ouija boards had risen 300 percent following the release of the film “Ouija.” Despite the film’s conclusion that “some things aren’t meant to be played with,” the movie reportedly piqued the interest of many of its viewers.
“The fact that people’s intention is to contact the spiritual realm outside the blessings and parameters that God has set out could lead to them to connect with the evil spiritual realm,” Darren Gallagher, a spokesman for Ellel Ministries, told Christian Today at that time. “Therefore such things as Ouija boards are not just harmless fun, but could potentially be spiritually dangerous for those who take part in such things.”
He noted that in the book of Acts, the people “gathered together their occultic objects and burned them because they knew that these practices were not compatible with their new life in Christ.”

World’s First ‘Transgender’ Doll Unveiled at New York Toy Fair Feb 20, 2017 12:00 pm
NEW YORK -- A doll made in the likeness of a reality television star who was born a boy but identifies as a girl was unveiled this weekend in New York. The Tonner Doll Company, led by Robert Tonner, introduced the Jazz Jennings doll at the International Toy Fair in Manhattan on Saturday.
“Jazz stands for everything I respect from a human nature point of view: She’s incredibly brave, intelligent, warm-hearted and creative,” he said in a statement.
As previously reported, Jennings is known for being the center of the TLC reality show “I Am Jazz,” which follows the now 16-year old’s life living as the opposite sex.
“Although born male, Jazz is a transgender female and has been living as a girl since kindergarten,” the network describes the show on its website. “Parents Jeanette and Greg have spent the years finding doctors to treat their daughter, while fighting the discrimination and misconceptions associated with what it means to be transgender.”
“Jazz is on a regimen of hormone therapy so that she can look and develop like the other girls in her school. But, Jazz struggles with comparing herself, and the lagging pace of her breast development to her friends,” it outlines.
Tonner said that he first learned about Jennings in 2007 when the then six-year-old was featured on “20/20” with Barbara Walters. Years later, after he noted that Jennings was becoming a prominent voice on “transgender” issues, he contacted the teen’s parents to advise that he would like to create a doll in Jennings’ image.

Tim Tebow Raises Concerns After Praising ‘Shack’ Movie Based on Universalist Novel Portraying God as Woman
By Heather Clark on February 21,
New York Mets outfielder and former NFL great Tim Tebow recently praised the upcoming film “The Shack,” a movie that is based on William P. Young’s bestselling novel of the same name, which some say contains universalistic doctrine and other unbiblical material.
“Got a sneak-peek of @TheShackMovie last night. Great reminder that God is with us in our highs & lows & LOVES us no matter what!” he posted on Twitter on Friday, generating 1,700 likes.
Reaction to his post was mixed, with some conveying agreement and others expressing concern out of their belief that the book and film are heretical.
“I was able to get a sneak peek, too! I loved the way it portrayed the Trinity’s relationship with each other and us!” one follower wrote.
“The 2nd greatest book ever! Can’t wait to see the movie!” another posted.
“I can’t support this movie nor have I the book. Scripturally unsound,” another wrote.
“This movie and book are Scripturally unsound. No Christian should view!” a third opined.

“Except for the heresy and misrepresentation of a holy God. Great reminder to read our Bibles,” another wrote in objection.
As previously reported, “The Shack,” released in 2007, is stated to have sold approximately 20 million copies and has been translated into 39 languages. In 2013, Lionsgate Entertainment obtained the rights to turn the book into a film, which is now scheduled to be released in March and is currently being promoted nationwide.

An American pastor who had been imprisoned in Iran for three years until he was freed last January in a prisoner swap with the U.S. was sentenced on Monday after pleading guilty last year to violating a restraining order sought by his wife, who he filed for divorce from last fall.
Saeed Abedini was sentenced to 180 days in jail, but with all but five days suspended, and was credited with one day in light of his arrest in August. He was also informed that he may perform community service for the four remaining days.
According to the Idaho Statesman, Ada County Magistrate Daniel Steckel also fined Abedini $1,000, but suspended half of the penalty, and placed the pastor on two years of unsupervised probation.
Abedini may not come within 300 yards of his wife’s home, and a third party has been arranged to transport the couple’s children back and forth to visitations with their father. He may not have contact with his wife unless it relates to the children.

Former Democrat Party Leader and ‘Husband’ Face Sex Charges for Abusing Teen Boy
By Heather Clark on February 18, 201733 Comments
NEWBURGH, Ind. — A former local Democratic Party leader and his homosexual partner have been arrested and now face sexual misconduct charges after allegedly being in a sexual relationship with a teenage boy.
Justin Jarvis, 43, and Robert Owen, 38, were arrested on Wednesday following an investigation by the Warrick County Sheriff’s Office in Indiana. Jarvis had formerly served as the political director of the Vanderburgh County Democratic Party.
According to reports, the teen’s parent contacted the sheriff’s office in October to report the relationship. It is believed that the men had been in contact with the boy, now 16, for approximately a year.
The teen was subsequently interviewed by detectives, and it was discovered that he and Jarvis had exchanged sexually explicit images, which were found on the boy’s phone.
The teen advised authorities that he met Jarvis through a dating app, and while he admitted that he lied about his age at first, he said he did soon tell Jarvis the truth.
He also said that some of his sexual encounters with the men were recorded, and advised that he had willingly engaged in sex with Jarvis and Owen 10 to 15 times each.
When police searched the men’s home, they found a number of sex tapes featuring the teen, just as he had said. They also found marijuana and a smoking pipe, as well as a bag that investigators believe contained meth residue. The teen stated that Jarvis had given him pot and Adderall during visits.

An openly homosexual writer and speaker who had been invited to appear at the popular Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) has now been dropped from the lineup after video surfaced of the conservative celebrity seemingly speaking in favor of pedophilia—an accusation that he denies.
Milo Yiannopoulos, an editor at the publication Breitbart, had been announced by the American Conservative Union (ACU) to be a keynote speaker at CPAC, which runs Wednesday through Saturday and features dozens of well-known conservative figures, including Sen. Ted Cruz, Gov. Scott Walker, Carly Fiorina, Michael Reagan, Sheriff David Clarke, Judge Jeanine Pirro, Sean Hannity, and many others.
President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence are scheduled to make appearances as well.
“We think free speech includes hearing Milo’s important perspective,” Tweeted ACU Chairman Matt Schlapp on Saturday.

Blurring Gender Lines? Pastor Concerned After American Girl Introduces First Ever Male Doll

MIDDLETON, Wisc. – Hoping to offer a doll that will appeal to both girls and boys, American Girl has unveiled their first ever full-size male doll, which has lead to criticism from a North Carolina pastor who believes the move will blur gender lines and confuse young children about whether it is acceptable for boys to play with dolls like girls do.
For over 30 years, American Girl dolls, along with their accompanying books and accessories, have been popular toys for children in the U.S. The original dolls featured storylines and outfits of young girls from different periods of American history, but since 1995 the company has sold doll characters in various modern settings.
On Tuesday, in an effort to continue modernizing their line of dolls, American Girl announced the creation of its first-ever full-sized male character doll.
“A boy character has been a top request from our fans for decades,” said American Girl spokeswoman Stephanie Spanos in a statement.
The doll, whose name is Logan Everett, is advertised on the American Girl website as a bandmate and drummer to a female doll character named Tenney.

Judge Rules Illinois Law Banning Help for Homosexual Youth Doesn’t Apply to Pastors

CHICAGO — A federal judge appointed to the bench by then-President Bill Clinton has ruled that an Illinois law banning mental health providers from providing help for homosexual youth to overcome temptation does not apply to pastors.
In August 2015, Gov. Bruce Rauner signed into law the “Youth Mental Health Protection Act,” which makes it illegal for any “marriage and family therapist” or “professional counselor” to provide “sexual orientation change efforts” to youth under the age of 18.
“Being lesbian, gay, or bisexual is not a disease, disorder, illness, deficiency, or shortcoming,” the Act reads in part. “Under no circumstances shall a mental health provider engage in sexual orientation change efforts with a person under the age of 18.”
It also bans therapists and counselors involved in a “trade or commerce” from engaging in “any deception, fraud … in offering conversion therapy services in a manner that represents homosexuality as a mental disease, disorder or illness.”

DALLAS, Texas (CBS News) — Norma McCorvey, whose legal challenge under the pseudonym “Jane Roe” led to the U.S. Supreme Court’s landmark decision that legalized abortion but who later became an outspoken opponent of the procedure, died Saturday. She was 69.
McCorvey died at an assisted living center in Katy, Texas, journalist Joshua Prager confirmed to CBS News. He is working on a book about McCorvey and was with her and her family when she died. He said she died of heart failure.
McCorvey was 22, unmarried, unemployed and pregnant for the third time when in 1969 she sought to have an abortion in Texas, where the procedure was illegal except to save a woman’s life. The subsequent lawsuit, known as Roe v. Wade, led to Supreme Court’s 1973 ruling that established abortion rights, though by that time, McCorvey had given birth and given her daughter up for adoption.

Trial Underway in UK for Preachers Arrested for ‘Anti-Social’ Opposition to Islam, Homosexuality

Stockwell, Overd and Clark with a representative from Christian Concern
BRISTOL, UK — A trial is currently underway in the United Kingdom for three preachers who were arrested last July on accusations of “causing a disturbance” and engaging in “anti-social behavior” after some listeners became offended by their speech about issues such as Islam, Buddhism, homosexuality and divorce.
Michael Overd, Adrian Clark and Michael Stockwell appeared in Bristol Magistrates’ Court on Thursday and Friday as part of a four-day trial over accusations that they violated a section of the Crime and Disorder Act, which prohibits speech or behavior causing “intentional harassment, alarm or distress” that is “racially or religiously aggravated.”
Prosecutor Ian Jackson “told the court some of the statements made by the preachers may have been in the King James Bible, translated in 1611, but that did not mean they were acceptable in 2016,” according to the Daily Mail.
Video of the incident was played in court on Friday.
As previously reported, the men had been taking turns open air preaching outside of the Bristol shopping center on July 6, while others engaged passersby in conversation and/or held gospel signs.

Trump Admin Withdraws Obama-Era Directive Requiring Allowance of Male Students in Girls’ Restrooms

WASHINGTON — The Trump administration withdrew on Wednesday an Obama-era directive that required public schools to allow students to use the restroom that they feel matches their “internal sense of gender” under threat of losing federal funding.
A letter issued by both the U.S. Department of Education and the Department of Justice outlines that the guidance issued under the Obama administration did not “contain extensive legal analysis or explain how the position is consistent with the express language of Title IX, nor did they undergo any formal public process.”
“This interpretation has given rise to significant litigation regarding school restrooms and locker rooms,” the departments noted.
The sentiments are similar to that of U.S. District Judge Reed O’Connor, who issued a nationwide injunction against the directives last August, declaring that the Obama administration had not followed the proper channels in issuing the guidance, and suggested that the departments’ interpretation of federal law was incorrect.

Roman Catholic Group Requests ‘Pope Francis’ Refer to Mary as ‘Co-Redemptrix With Jesus’
By Heather Clark on February 15, 2017156 Comments

The International Marian Association has requested that the leader of Roman Catholicism, Jorge Bergoglio, also known as Pope Francis, refer to Mary as “co-redemptrix with Jesus the redeemer” during the 100th year anniversary of the purported apparitions of Mary in Fatima, Portugal.

The Theological Commission of the Marian Association, which is comprised of 30 supportive entities, including Vatican Secretariat of State Florian Kolfhaus, Andrew Apostoli of the Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN), Elias Mary of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Sanctuary in Wisconsin, and Michael O’Neill and Christopher Padgett of the Mariological Society of America, recently released a 10-page document outlining why Mary is deserving of the title.

It states that Mary passed on her sinless nature—given to her by God at conception—to Jesus, that He might redeem the world from sin. Through her willing human participation in the Father’s divine means of saving wicked men, the Commission contends, she is the “New Eve” just as Jesus is the “New Adam.”

“Mary, the ‘full of grace’ (Lk. 1:28) was providentially prepared by the Father through her Immaculate Conception to participate with the Son in the crushing of the head of Satan and redeeming humanity from sin, and to pass on to her divine Son an immaculate human nature like her own in order to accomplish the mission of redemption,” the document asserts.

“Within the rich tradition of the Church the patristic concept of Mary as the ‘New Eve’ who uniquely worked with Jesus, the ‘New Adam,’ to restore the life of grace to the human family contains within itself the doctrine of Mary’s unique participation with Jesus in the redemption,” it states. “Declared ‘Mother of the Church’ by Pope Bl. Paul VI, Mary ‘cooperated in initiating God’s kingdom’ and thus manifested her motherly co-redemption for the Church.”

The Commission clarifies, however, that the title of co-redemptrix does not set Mary as equal with Christ, as it believes such a concept would be heresy.
“The philosophical and theological meaning of ‘participation’ includes the understanding of an inferior being ‘taking part in’ (partem capere) the perfections or qualities of a superior being,” it outlines. “Thus, Mary’s participation in the redemption of Christ in no way diminishes His perfect divine redemption, but rather in a human feminine and maternal expression, partakes in its divine power and efficacy.”
Connect with Christian News
The Marian Association therefore requests that “Pope Francis would kindly grant public recognition and honor to the role of the Blessed Virgin Mary as ‘co-redemptrix with Jesus the redeemer'” during the Fatima observance in May. It says that the recognition would provide a means for humanity to consider how God used men as a vessel as He carried out His purposes in the plan of salvation.

“We believe that a public acknowledgement of Mary’s true and continuous role with Jesus in the saving work of redemption would justly celebrate the role of humanity in God’s saving plan; foster greater devotion to the mother of God; and lead to the release of historic graces through an even more powerful exercise of our lady’s maternal roles of intercession for the Church and for all humanity today,” it writes.

While the Association says that title would point the eyes of the people to the cross of Christ, some beg to differ. Mike Gendron of Proclaiming the Gospel Ministries in Plano, Texas told Christian News Network that the Roman Catholic religion often attributes many of Christ’s characteristics to Mary.
“They teach that both were conceived without sin and lived sinless lives, and both are our advocates. They proclaim that Jesus is the source of grace, Mary is the channel of all grace; Jesus is the Mediator, Mary is the Mediatrix; Jesus ascended into glory, Mary’s body was assumed into glory; Jesus is the King of Heaven, Mary is the Queen of Heaven; Jesus is the Prince of peace, and Mary is the Queen of peace,” he explained.
Gendron said that these doctrines are unbiblical. Further considering Mary now as co-redemptrix, he opined, rather takes God’s rightful glory and gives part of it to man.

“Nowhere in Scripture is Mary referred to as co-redeemer or co-mediatrix,” he declared. “It was the Lord Jesus, not Mary, who gave His life as a ransom for many (Mark 10:45). It was Jesus, not Mary, who redeemed those who were once slaves to sin and purchased their freedom so that they are no longer in bondage to sin. Jesus gave Himself to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own (Titus 2:14).”

“For anyone to refer to Mary as co-redemptrix not only violates the truth of God’s Word, it also dishonors the Lord Jesus Christ and robs Him of the glory, honor and praise that He alone deserves,” Gendron stated.

Pope John Paul II referred to Mary as co-redemptrix on several occasions, but some worried that it would impede the ecumenical unity that Catholics were seeking with Christians.

“There is great spiritual danger for Catholics when they look to Mary and not Jesus,” Gendron said. “Paul warned, ‘But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ (2 Corinthians 11:3).’ I pray that Catholics will heed the exhortation from the book of Hebrews: ‘Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God (Hebrews 12:2).'”

COOK COUNTY, Ill. (WCMH) — A national sex trafficking sting ended in the arrests of 552 would-be sex buyers or sex traffickers.
The National Johns Suppression Initiative began three weeks ago, ending on Super Bowl Sunday. 23 law enforcement agencies in 14 states took part in the crackdown.
“Sex trafficking continues to destroy countless lives, and this broad national movement should send a strong message to prospective johns that their ‘hobby’ is much more than a ‘victimless’ crime,” said Cook County, Illinois Sheriff Thomas J. Dart in a news release. “It’s particularly meaningful that this sting culminated on the day of the Super Bowl, which unfortunately has emerged as a prominent haven for sex trafficking.”

Georgetown University Islamic Professor Asserts Slavery, Rape Is Not Always ‘Morally Evil’

WASHINGTON — Concerns are being expressed after audio has surfaced of a Muslim Georgetown University professor outlining that slavery and sex without consent is not always wrong as defined in Islamic culture.
Professor Jonathan Brown recently lectured at the International Institute of Islamic Thought, where he delivered a message on “Islam and the Problem of Slavery.” The lecture, which included a Q & A period, can be heard in full here. Q & A begins at approximately 51:00.
Brown stated in the discussion that what some might call slavery in Islam differs from what is recognized in the historical American context, because it was “rarely racialized” and “slaves had a huge regime of rights.” He said that some “slaves in numerous circumstances became the actual rulers or were used as the administrative elite.”
“I think if you took the Sharia understanding of slavery and even the general practice of slavery in Islamic civilization, I don’t think it’s comparable at all to plantation chattel slavery in the Americas. It’s just not comparable at all,” he asserted.

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — The city council of St. Louis has approved a proposal that adds women who’ve had an abortion to the city’s non-discrimination ordinance.
Board Bill 203 was presented by Alderman Megan Green, who said that the protections were necessary to keep employers and landlords from acting adversely when a mother chooses to the end the life of her unborn child.
“Employers can have their own beliefs,” she told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, “but they shouldn’t be able to impose those beliefs on people or fire someone because of those beliefs.”
But faith-based organizations expressed opposition to the proposal, stating that it instead “promotes religious discrimination against those who don’t want to be complicit in the evils of abortion.”

WASHINGTON — In what appears to some as being a signal that the Trump administration is not going to defend the Obama administration’s directives requiring public schools to allow male students who identify as female—and vice versa—to use the restroom that correlates with their “internal sense of gender,” the U.S. Department of Justice has withdrawn the previous administration’s request for a stay of an injunction against the Obama-era restroom policy.
The filing, submitted on Friday, notifies the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals that it desires to withdraw the motion, as well as the oral argument scheduled over the matter, which was to be held on Tuesday.

ONTARIO, Calif. — While appearing at an event with Baptist news reporters on Wednesday, Southern Baptist International Mission Board President David Platt told those gathered that he was sorry that an amicus brief supporting the construction of a New Jersey mosque had caused division.
“I apologize to Southern Baptists for how distracting and divisive this has been,” he said. “I can say with full confidence that in the days ahead, IMB will have a process in place to keep us focused on our primary mission: partnering with churches to empower limitless missionary teams for evangelizing, discipling, planting and multiplying healthy churches, and training leaders among unreached peoples and places for the glory of God.”
As previously reported, the Mission Board, the SBC Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, and the Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty were among 20 groups that had joined the 2016 legal filing, including the American Association of Jewish Lawyers and Jurists, the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, the Sikh Coalition, the Interfaith Coalition on Mosques and many others.

Historic Cave Discovery in Israel Renews Hopes of Finding More Dead Sea Scrolls Feb 13, 2017 06:02 am
QUMRAN, Israel – For the first time in over 60 years, researchers have discovered a cave near the Dead Sea that once housed ancient scrolls, renewing archaeologists’ hopes that additional Dead Sea Scrolls may be waiting to be found. Seventy years ago, Bedouin shepherds famously discovered ancient scrolls within caves near the Dead Sea.
One of the most popular lies that has become universally accepted as if it was an indisputable truth is the myth about Jerusalem being the third sacred place to Islam. It is quite rare to hear the honest truth, that Jerusalem is the First and Only Holiest place to Judaism! As a matter of fact, Jerusalem is not mentioned at all in the koran, and Muhammad has never been there (perhaps he did not even know about the existence of Jerusalem!). The tale about his dream flight has been related with Jerusalem in a very recent time for political strategy purposes.

Pence Comes Out in Support of Trump Decision to Retain Obama Order on Homosexual, Transgender Protections Feb 06, 2017 01:26 pm
WASHINGTON -- Vice President Mike Pence defended on Sunday President Donald Trump's decision to retain an Obama-era order banning groups that contract with the federal government from “discriminating” against homosexuals and transgenders in their business or non-profit organization. “I think throughout the campaign, President Trump made it clear that
discrimination would have no place in our administration,” Pence said during an interview on ABC’s “This Week,” according to a transcript of the discussion. “He was the very first Republican nominee to mention the LGBTQ community at our Republican National Convention and was applauded for it. And I was there applauding with him.”
“I think the generosity of his spirit, recognizing that in the patriot’s heart, there’s no room for prejudice is part of who this president is,” he stated.
He had been asked by interviewer George Stephanopoulos about concerns from conservative groups, which wondered “why Obama’s executive order is allowed to stand.”
As previously reported, last Tuesday, the Trump administration advised that it would keep intact Obama’s order, #13672, which amended a 1969 order by then-President Richard Nixon prohibiting federal contractors from discriminating based on “race, color, religion, sex, national origin, handicap and age,” as well as a 1998 order from then-President Bill Clinton adding “sexual orientation” to the list.

Discovery of ‘Astonishing’ Fortification From Solomon’s Time Confirms Biblical History Feb 06, 2017 06:00 am
TIMNA VALLEY, Israel – Archaeologists have discovered a 3,000-year-old military fortification in Israel that dates to the reign of King Solomon and provides evidence that the biblical king ruled over an advanced, wealthy kingdom. Writing in “The Journal of Archaeological Science: Reports,” a team of researchers from Tel Aviv University describe recent findings from Israel’s Timna Valley, which is located in far southern Israel. Thanks to its exceptionally dry climate, many ancient structures and artifacts dating to Bible times have been exquisitely preserved there The Tel Aviv University researchers were particularly interested in the remains of a gatehouse from the 10th century B.C. that was associated with copper ore mines.

Men’s Barbershop Settles With ‘Genderqueer’ Woman Who Sued for Being Denied Haircut Feb 07, 2017 07:01 am
RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. — A men's barbershop in California has agreed to a settlement with a woman who identifies as "gender neutral" who filed a lawsuit last year after being denied a haircut because she is not a man. Under the terms of the settlement, signed by both parties, Richard Hernandez, owner of The Barbershop, admits to violating California’s Unruh Civil Rights Act and agrees to serve all who request a haircut.
“Kendall’s sex shouldn’t have mattered. No one should experience the gut-punch of being told they won’t be served by a business open to the public,” Lambda Legal Senior Attorney Peter Renn said of the men’s barbershop in a statement on Wednesday.
As previously reported, Kendall Oliver, 25, began identifying as “genderqueer” after serving in the Army. The term is defined as “a person who does not subscribe to conventional gender distinctions but identifies with neither, both, or a combination of male and female genders.”

Trump Reinstates Ban on US Funds Promoting Overseas Abortions Jan 23, 2017 02:19 pm
(The Hill) -- President Trump on Monday morning signed an executive order blocking foreign aid or federal funding for international nongovernmental organizations that provide or "promote" abortions. The order comes one day after the 44th anniversary of the Roe V. Wade Supreme Court ruling that made abortion legal, and days before the annual "March for Life" in Washington on Jan. 27.
The so-called Mexico City policy, established by Republican President Ronald Reagan in 1984, blocks federal funding for international family planning charities that provide abortions or “promote” the procedure by providing patients with information about it, including by offering referrals to abortion providers.

US House Votes to Permanently Ban Taxpayer Funding of Abortion Jan 25, 2017 07:01 am
WASHINGTON -- The U.S. House of Representatives passed the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act on Tuesday, essentially placing a permanent ban on taxpayer funding of abortions, as outlined in the Hyde Amendment. The matter now moves to the Senate for consideration. The Act had been introduced by Rep. Chris Smith
R-New Jersey, a longtime supporter of the Amendment, which was first passed in 1976 to ban the use of Medicaid funds for abortion, with the exceptions of rape, incest and the life of the mother. Noting peer reviewed studies, Smith says that the Amendment has saved two million lives since its inception.
“Two million people who would have been aborted instead survived because public funds were unavailable to effectuate their violent demise, while their mothers benefited from prenatal health care and support,” Smith said on the House floor prior to the vote. “Two million survivors have had the opportunity to live and enjoy the first and most basic of all human rights—the right to life.”

Bush Judge: Abortion Facilities May Throw Babies in Trash as It Is ‘Undue Burden’ to Require Burial

AUSTIN, Texas — A federal judge nominated to the bench by then-President George W. Bush issued a preliminary injunction this week against a new Texas regulation requiring that abortion facilities arrange for deceased babies to be either buried or cremated instead of being treated as medical waste, stating that the requirement places an “undue burdens on a woman’s right to seek a previability abortion.”
“It seems unlikely DSHS’S professed purpose is a valid state interest and not a pretext for restricting abortion access,” U.S. District Judge Sam Sparks extended his restraining order against the rule on Friday. “By comparison, Plaintiffs face likely constitutional violations, which could severely limit abortion access in Texas.”

The restaurant chain Chili’s has canceled a fundraiser set up by a franchise partner for an affiliate of the abortion giant Planned Parenthood after receiving complaints over the matter.
Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky had announced on social media last week that supporters throughout the two states could present a voucher when dining at Chili’s and 15 percent of their pre-tax purchase would be donated to Planned Parenthood.
The promotion was a part of Chili’s “Give Back” program.
“Here’s why you should go to happy hour,” the organization wrote. “Show this flyer at any Chili’s Bar and Grill in Indiana and Kentucky, and the restaurant will donate 15% of your check to PPINK! The promotion lasts now through March.”
But as word of the fundraising arrangement disseminated, some expressed displeasure, which prompted the corporate office to reportedly take notice. It released a statement on Thursday that the “Give Back” effort for Planned Parenthood had been discontinued.

A soon-to-be-released documentary-style film, featuring footage from around the U.S. and interviews with over a dozen scholars and scientists, will provide visual evidence and scientific arguments for the Bible’s accounts of Creation and the Flood.
On February 23, hundreds of movie theaters across the U.S. will participate in a one-night showing of the film “Is Genesis History?” The film, produced by Compass Cinema and structured as a documentary, features interviews with respected Christian scientists, including microbiologist Kevin Anderson, astronomer Danny Faulkner, geologist Andrew Snelling, and several others.

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration used its last day in office to issue a memo allowing male immigrants who identify as female, and vice versa, to change their gender on official documents.
The office of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), under the Department of Homeland Security, released the memo on Jan. 19, advising of revisions to the field manual pertaining to the “procedures and requirements to change the gender designation on a USCIS-issued document.”
“Individuals may request a change in the gender reflected on a USCIS-issued document using the standard USCIS form for requesting the desired document,” it outlines.
USCIS will then “issue an initial or amended document reflecting the changed gender designation” if the person submits a court order showing that they have been granted the right to be recognized as the opposite sex, an amended birth certificate, passport or driver’s license, or a letter from a health care professional “certifying that the requested gender designation is consistent with the individual’s gender identity.”

Pastor, Eight Others Missing in Uganda After Muslims Beat, Rape Congregation
By Editor on January 30, 20172 Comments
(Morning Star News) – A pastor in eastern Uganda and eight other Christians are missing two weeks after a Muslim mob attacked a church prayer meeting, locked the congregation in, beat several members and raped 15 women, sources said.
The approximately 90 Muslims broke into the evening prayer meeting of Katira Church of Uganda, in Katira village, Budaka District at about 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 15 and beat them with clubs and sticks, area sources said. Previously Muslims had only thrown stones at the roof of the church building to disrupt church services of the 500-member congregation, villagers said.
At the evening service, about 80 members were present, and among those who escaped before the doors were locked was a Christian who heard one of the assailants shout, “Away with the pastor who is converting our Muslims to Christianity,” a church leader said.

AUSTIN, Texas — A devoted adoptive father, husband and abortion abolitionist died suddenly on Thursday after emergency rescuers were unable to locate him in time when he went underwater during a family outing at the lake.
Cody May, 31, had just recently moved his family to Texas after residing in Connecticut for many years, where he and his wife Kimberly opened their home to those needing a place to stay. The couple also took to heart the biblical mandate to care for the fatherless (James 1:27), adopting six children—three from Ethiopia, two from the Congo, and one local to Connecticut.
May was an ardent abortion abolitionist, as he sought a complete end to abortion as opposed to the incremental approach embraced by many who identify as pro-life. He often stood outside of abortion facilities preaching the Word of God and pleading with mothers not to kill their children.

WASHINGTON — Just two weeks before he is expected to announce his pick for the U.S. Supreme Court, Donald Trump met on Saturday with one of the judges stated to be on his shortlist: Judge William Pryor, a former Alabama attorney general who prosecuted “Ten Commandments Judge” Roy Moore in 2003, and who vowed not to seek to overturn Roe v. Wade despite his personal beliefs during his confirmation hearing to the federal appeals circuit.
Those with knowledge of the meeting confirmed the discussion with the Associated Press on the condition of anonymity since it had not been made public by the incoming administration. Trump advised last week that he will likely announce his replacement for Justice Antonin Scalia within the first two weeks of taking office.
“I have a list of 20. I have gone through them. We’ve met with numerous candidates. They’re outstanding in every case,” he said at a press conference on Jan. 11.
Last February, following Scalia’s sudden death, Trump had cited Pryor, who currently sits on the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, as being a possible replacement.

ST. PAUL, Minn. — A Somali-American woman who identifies as a Muslim recently took her oath of office on the Koran instead of the Bible.
Ilhan Omar, a Democrat, was elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives in November, beating her Republican opponent, Abdimalik Askar, by 61 percent. Her election marked the first female Somali-American selected to serve as a legislator.
“We will never stop fighting for a democracy that works for all of us—for a prosperous and equitable Minnesota that we can all be proud of,” Omar, 34, declared in her victory speech. “I will never give up fighting for you, and I hope you never give up fighting for me.”
On Jan. 3, she took the oath of office at the Minnesota State Capitol building with her hand placed on a large, commemorative copy of the Koran.
“Congratulations. Welcome to the House of Representatives,” she was greeted following the oath, as a number of her supporters who were present stood to their feet and cheered.
“I think it says a lot about the ethos of America,” Asad Zaman, executive director of the Muslim American Society of Minnesota told Voice of America. “That [constituents] can embrace a Somali-American, hijab-clad Muslim woman as their representative, as the most qualified person to speak for them in the state capitol.”
According to reports, Omar moved to America when she was 12 after spending four years in an African refugee camp due to the ravages of the Somali Civil War.

WASHINGTON – A Democratic lawmaker filed a resolution in the House of Representatives that, if approved, would recognize February 12, 2017, as “Darwin Day” and celebrate the father of evolution’s contributions to science.
House Resolution 44, filed on Wednesday by Democratic Rep. James Himes of Connecticut, seeks to honor Darwin on the 208th anniversary of his birth.
“Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution by the mechanism of natural selection, together with the monumental amount of scientific evidence he compiled to support it, provides humanity with a logical and intellectually compelling explanation for the diversity of life on Earth,” the resolution asserts.
In addition to celebrating Darwin and his legacy, the resolution criticizes biblical creation, claiming it undermines the well-being of the nation’s education systems.
“[T]he teaching of creationism in some public schools compromises the scientific and academic integrity of the United States education systems,” H.R. 44 claims.
Thirteen other Democratic representatives co-sponsored the resolution, which was referred to the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology.

MANILA — Over 200 were injured on Monday as an estimated 1.5 million Filipinos sought to press up against a centuries-old statue of Christ that was marched through the streets of Manila as part of an annual Roman Catholic celebration called the Feast of the Black Nazarene.
As previously reported, Catholics in the country, some holding rosaries, banners and/or cloths, seek to touch the wood carving of Jesus carrying the cross out of their belief that it possesses healing powers or can bring good fortune.
“If you seek a favor, it will be granted as long as you pray hard,” Lolit Gonzales, 45, told the Manila Times. She asserted that she had been healed of a knee injury after participating in the event two years ago.
“The Nazarene has given me everything: a stable job and health for my family,” Armando Bantayaun, 57, also told reporters.
The carving, known as the Black Nazarene for the figure’s dark complexion, is believed to have been brought from Mexico to Manila in the 1600’s. It was carried aboard a ship, and although the vessel caught fire, it was not destroyed.
For the past 200 years, millions have flooded the streets as the wooden carving is carried through Manila for its annual feast day.
This year was no exception, as some followers along the 20-hour procession tossed cloths to those who were adjacent to the carriage, hoping that they could swipe the idol for them. Some walked barefoot in the 30-degree weather to show penance and to recreate Jesus’ supposed barefoot act of carrying the cross.

(Yahoo News) — As various states move towards the legalization of marijuana, doctors are noticing the increase of a particular illness that is associated with regular use of the drug. Emergency rooms have been seeing an influx of patients with the same symptoms – severe abdominal pain and intense vomiting – and this increase is particularly high in certain states that have already legalized the use of marijuana.
While some doctors have been perplexed by these symptoms, the disease does have a name: cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome, or CHS. The illness is believed to be caused by regular and long-term use of marijuana.
There seems to be a direct correlation between CHS and states that have passed marijuana legalization measures. One study shows that CHS diagnoses nearly doubled at two of Colorado’s hospitals since 2009 – the year that it was decided that Colorado needed a state-regulated medical marijuana distribution system.

‘Heretic’ Prosperity Preacher Paula White Issues Defense After Selection for Trump Inauguration Criticized Jan 07, 2017 05:59 pm
Prosperity preacher Paula White, who was invited by President-elect Donald Trump to deliver the invocation at his inauguration ceremony on Jan. 20, has released a statement in defense of herself as some Christians have expressed concern over Trump's selection of the female preacher for the event. "I have been called a heretic, an apostate, an adulterer, a...
and an addict,” she wrote this week. “It has been falsely reported that I once filed for bankruptcy and—my personal favorite—that I deny the Trinity!”
White said that she had been hesitating “to even address such patently false accusations about my personal life and my beliefs so as to not dignify them with a response.” However, since she believed the objections to her appearance pose “a potential distraction to an otherwise celebratory and historic time in our country,” she wanted to present her side of the story.

Hillsong United Band Leader Calls Jen Hatmaker’s Remarks on Homosexuality ‘Refreshing’
  Nov 05, 2016 03:50 pm
Photo Credit: JenHatmaker.comPhoto Credit: JenHatmaker.com Joel Houston, the leader of the popular worship ban Hillsong United, is raising concern after he recently remarked that he found an interview with HGTV celebrity and author Jen Hatmaker---who revealed that she believes homosexuals should be supported in and by the church---to be "refreshing." Hatmaker had been interviewed by Jonathan Merritt of Religion News Service (RNS) on a variety of subjects, including the election, homosexuality and abortion.
“From a civil rights and civil liberties side and from just a human being side, any two adults have the right to choose who they want to love. And they should be afforded the same legal protections as any of us,” she said when asked by Merritt if she supports same-sex “marriage.” “I would never wish anything less for my gay friends.”
She said that churches should offer marriage and parenting help and support for those in homosexual relationships.

Office of African False Prophet T.B. Joshua ‘Mistakenly’ Deletes Prophecy of Clinton Win   Nov 10, 2016 07:40 pm
joshua-compressedPhoto Credit: Facebook LAGOS, Nigeria -- The office of an African false prophet says that it "mistakenly" deleted his recent prophesy of Hillary Clinton winning the 2016 presidential election now that Clinton lost the election to billionaire business mogul Donald Trump. T.B. Joshua is the leader of The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) in Lagos Nigeria and the founder of  Emmanuel T.V., one of the largest Christian-identifying networks in Africa. On Sunday, he posted to Facebook that God had given him a vision of the new president, and that it was a woman.
“Ten days ago, I saw the new president of America with a narrow win,” he wrote. “The new president will be facing several challenges over many issues, including passing bills, attempts to possibly pass a vote of no confidence on the new president. The boat of the new president will be rocked.”“By the way, in order not to keep you in suspense, what I frankly saw is a woman,” Joshua added.
But following Tuesday’s election and backlash over his prophesy being false, Joshua’s office deleted the post. Some sneered that his words had been removed and created captioned photos in mockery.

Clinton, Kaine Cite Scripture in Concession Speeches
By Heather Clark on November 9, 201632 Comments

clinton-concession-compressedNEW YORK — In conceding the presidential race on Wednesday, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton cited Scripture, as did her running mate Tim Kaine.
Kaine, a Roman Catholic, referred to Matthew 7:20 in comparing Christ’s parable about those who come into the Kingdom later than others to those who joined Clinton’s campaign efforts in the tail end of the push.
“There’s a beautiful and kind of comical parable in the New Testament about a vineyard owner who hires people to work and says, ‘And I’m going to pay you this for a full day,”‘ Kaine stated. “Then he hires people at noon—‘I’m going to pay you the same thing for the half day.’ Then he hires people one hour before and—‘I’m going to pay you the same.’ And those who started early in the day say, ‘Hold on. We don’t like this. That you’re treating everybody who came late just as well as you’re treating us.'”
“I’m going to tell you something, here’s what I’ve come to know so well about Hillary,” he continued. “The team that she has assembled over the years of people that are so deeply loyal to her because she’s so deeply loyal to them is inspiring. But I’ve seen that same degree of loyalty and compassion and sensitivity extended to the most recent folks who have joined the team. The folks who came to the vineyard with just one hour to go.”
Kaine became teary-eyed at times as Clinton conceded the race to billionaire business mogul Donald Trump.

Christian Couple Denied Adoption of Foster Children Over Opposition to Homosexual Parenting

According to reports, the couple, which has not been identified, has been looking after the children since early 2016. and has sought to adopt the youth themselves. They had initially been turned down because their house was too small.
When they were later told by a social worker that two men had expressed interest, the couple “expressed a degree of shock and asked if this was a ‘joke.'” They also said that it would be hard to explain the concept to one of the children who had said he was “waiting for a new mummy.”

Five-Month-Old Girl Wows World After Spending 17 Years as Frozen Embryo   Nov 11, 2016 12:25 pm
marley-compressedPARKER, Co. -- A five-month-old baby girl is wowing the world as her adoptive parents are sharing the story of how their Snowflake baby was a frozen embryo for 17 years before her birth. Elizabeth and Marty Wilson turned to Nightlight Christian Adoptions a few years ago after having difficulty conceiving again following the birth of their first child. The organization, established in 1997, runs the “Snowflake Adoption Program” to provide a means for remaining embryos from IVF procedures to be utilized instead of destroyed.
“Over 1,100 families have donated their remaining embryos through Snowflakes (sometimes referred to as leftover, excess, unused embryos)– allowing them to choose the family for their embryo gift,” Nighlight outlines on its website.
The organization helped match the Wilsons with a frozen embryo being held in a tube simply marked ZXZPN. The tube was dated November 3rd, 1998—long before the Wilsons had even met.

As of press time, State Question 790 had failed with over 55 percent of voters saying no an initiative that asked whether or not the state Constitution should be amended to allow government property to be used for religious benefit.
“This measure would remove Article 2, Section 5 of the Oklahoma Constitution, which prohibits the government from using public money or property for the direct or indirect benefit of any religion or religious institution,” the ballot question read.

Alberta Teachers’ Assoc. Guide Suggests Teaching Children ‘Why Homophobia Leads Us to Sin’   Nov 05, 2016 01:44 pm
Classroom II pdEDMONTON, Alberta -- The Alberta Teachers' Association recently released a guide for teachers to instruct students about "sexual and gender minorities," including suggestions that children try out drag for a day to "explore perceptions of gender" and be taught "why homophobia leads us to sin." The manual, created with partial funding from the government of Alberta, is meant to arm teachers with resources to “destigmatize sensitive aspects related to sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression” in schools.
Among the guidance included within, the manual instructs teachers to use the pronouns that correspond with one’s gender identity, and to refrain from using language that separates male and female.

What Do We Know About Trump's Faith?
carey-lodge Carey Lodge CHRISTIAN TODAY JOURNALIST 09 November 2016
Trump holds his Bible while speaking at the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition Forum in Iowa, September 2015.
Donald Trump will be the 45th President of the United States. After defeating Democrat hopeful Hillary Clinton in a shock win overnight, the New York billionaire will in January be inaugurated and move into the White House.

And one of his main supporter groups? White evangelical Christians. According to polls, they backed Trump by 81 per cent to 16 per cent – a larger margin of the evangelical vote than was achieved by a Republican candidate in the past three elections.
Trump's relationship with US Christians has been somewhat rocky. He campaigned hard for the evangelical vote, and initially managed to gain widespread support – winning the endorsement of Liberty University president Jerry Falwell Jr, author Eric Metaxas and pastor of First Baptist Church Dallas, Robert Jeffress. And they weren't the only ones. As the world watched on in bewilderment, numerous leading Christian figures lined up to gush over Trump's candidacy.
But he was mocked a fair amount, too, and questioned about his self-proclaimed Christian faith. When asked to name his favourite Bible verse in August last year he refused to respond, saying the answer would be too personal, leading critics to ask whether he actually knew any. A few weeks later he said he liked Proverbs, in particular "the chapter 'never bend to envy'", which doesn't actually exist.
Then in April, he was asked again by a US radio station whether he has "a favourite Bible verse or Bible story that has informed your thinking or your character through life?". Trump responded "an eye for an eye", failing to note that Jesus shut down that verse from Leviticus pretty swiftly, urging Christians to respond with forgiveness and love – not vengeance.
Of course, Trump himself has admitted that he has never actually asked God for forgiveness, so perhaps no surprises there.

He committed another faux pas and was ridiculed by Christians for referring to a chapter in the Bible as 'Two Corinthians' – the usual phrasing in Britain, but Americans typically refer to it as 'Second Corinthians'. He was derided by commentators, and students at Liberty University, whom he was addressing, openly laughed at the perceived error. (It's important to note that more than 2,000 Liberty students – one of America's largest Christian colleges – signed a petition opposing Trump, in doing so critiquing Falwell Jr's support).
Trump even got into a spat with Pope Francis over his repeated promises to build a wall dividing the US from Mexico, and a senior official in the Presbyterian Church – into which Trump was baptised as a child – slammed the candidate's hardline immigration policies.
So he wasn't always considered the true 'Christian candidate', despite running under the Republican banner, which has typically enjoyed the majority of white evangelical support. And yet, in the midst of this fragile relationship, Trump evidently won the evangelicals over.
His declarations of personal faith appeared to gain more credence among evangelicals as his campaign went on.
Evangelist Paula White was credited with leading Trump to faith, and though she refused to comment specifically, she told the Christian Post: "I can tell you with confidence that I have heard Mr. Trump verbally acknowledge his faith in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of his sins through prayer, and I absolutely believe he is a Christian who is growing like the rest of us. I know that from many personal conversations."
James Dobson, founder of the conservative Focus on the Family, called Trump a "baby Christian", waving away his more controversial statements by saying the candidate simply "doesn't have a clue about how believers think, talk and act".
"All I can tell you is that we have only two choices, Hillary or Donald," Dobson added. "Hillary scares me to death. And, if Christians stay home because he isn't a better candidate, Hillary will run the world for perhaps eight years. The very thought of that haunts my nights and days."

Support did appear to be crumbling just a few weeks ago following the release of a video tape from 2005 in which Trump could be heard openly speaking about groping women and trying to seduce a married woman. It caused particular waves among conservative voters and previously supportive voices, including theologian Wayne Grudem, began to waver.
Grudem announced that he was withdrawing his support for the Republican candidate and urged Trump to pull out from the race. (He then later changed his mind again – announcing that he would vote for Trump after all.)
Evangelical author Beth Moore spoke publicly of her own experience of sexual assault and said to evangelical leaders who still supported Trump: "Try to absorb how acceptable the disesteem and objectifying of women has been when some Christian leaders don't think it's that big a deal." Russell Moore, of the Southern Baptist Commission's Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, reiterated his own opposition to the candidate.
But yet more stood by him.
One classic trope espoused by Trump-supporting Christians was that they weren't necessarily endorsing his 'lifestyle' by giving him their vote. Trump's repeated promises to protect Christianity hit the spot with evangelicals convinced they've been persecuted under the Obama administration, but arguably abortion won out as the key electoral issue. Many Christians consider abortion – and therefore the appointment of conservative Supreme Court justices – as the main issue. Trump's apparent pro-life stance against Clinton's pro-choice saw him clinch their votes.
Jenn Johnson, of Bethel Church in Redding, California, and daughter-in-law of leaders Bill and Beni Johnson, posted on Instagram yesterday suggesting that voting for Trump was the real way of supporting the 'Black Lives Matter' movement because of the high number of black women who have abortions:
A petition signed by nearly 80 evangelical leaders last month said Trump's candidacy had "given voice to a movement that affirms racist elements in white culture." "This is a campaign run on racial resentment and white nationalism," Jim Wallis, founder and president of Sojourners, told Christian Today. And yet, abortion evidently remained the key issue for evangelical voters – over and above the treatment of minority groups.
Jeffress told National Public Radio: "What they're [evangelicals] saying is this is a binary choice between one candidate, Donald Trump – who is pro-life, pro-religious liberty, pro-conservative justices of the Supreme Court – and another candidate, Hillary Clinton, who has an opposite view on all of those issues."
Falwell even said he would continue to support Trump if the numerous allegations of sexual assault lodged against him proved to be true, because he was better "qualified" for presidency than Clinton – a viewpoint directly contradicted by 50 former national security officials, among numerous others. In a letter published in August, the signatories warned that Trump "lacks the character, values and experience to be president... He weakens US moral authority as the leader of the free world."
Of course, whatever Trump's true faith – or the legitimacy of the reasons behind his evangelical support – it remains that he will take office in January and lead the US for the next four years, at least.
Evangelical figures across the political spectrum today signed a declaration calling for unity amid the "deeply divisive nature of this election cycle". Christians around the world will be looking to these leaders to see how gracefully they live that out.

‘You Don’t Have to Like Her’: Oprah Winfrey Endorses Clinton for President on T.D. Jakes Show   Oct 26, 2016 02:00 pm
jakes-compressedTalk show host Oprah Winfrey recently appeared on the "T.D. Jakes Show," where she urged viewers to vote for Hillary Clinton, stating that "you don't have to like her" to vote for her. During the broadcast, Jakes, leader of the Potter's House megachurch in Dallas, Texas, asked Winfrey how the country can be unified rather than divided. "We have focused so so much on what divides us, rather than what unites us,” he said. “You brought all types of people together that normally would not be. How are we going to get that back in this country?”
Winfrey replied by praising Jakes for his television program on the OWN Network, opining that there is no platform for “public discourse” about the issues. She also divulged why she hasn’t been outspoken herself.
“The reason why I haven’t been vocal, other than saying ‘I’m with her,’ is because I didn’t know what to say that could actually pierce through all the noise and the chaos and the disgusting vitriol that’s going on and actually be heard,” she said on the broadcast, which is set to air on national television on Thursday.
“It’s scary,” Jakes replied. “At a time that leadership is so critical in our country…”
Winfrey interjected that Clinton is the only way to go.

No,’ Carl Lentz Responds When Asked By Oprah if Only Christians Can Be in Relationship With God   Oct 19, 2016 02:48 pm
Photo credit: InstagramPhoto credit: Instagram During a recently-aired episode of Oprah Winfrey's "Super Soul Sunday," hipster Hillsong NYC leader Carl Lentz replied in the negative when asked by the popular talk show host if he believes only Christians can be in a relationship with God. The episode was recorded earlier this year, but aired this past Sunday as per the Super Soul.
“Do you believe that only Christians can be in a relationship with God?” Winfrey asked.
“No,” Lentz replied. “I believe that when Jesus said that ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life’—the way I read that, Jesus said that He is the road marker, He is the map.”
“So, I think that God loves people so much that whether they accept or reject Him, He’s still gracious, and He’s still moving, and He’s still giving you massive red blinking lights, for chances to take a right turn where maybe you’d take a left,” Lentz continued. “But I believe God loves people, and that’s what this whole gospel is based on—it’s love. You take the love out of it, we’ve got a moral book.”
Moments prior, after Winfrey advised of a friend who is enamored with Hillsong NYC, Lentz remarked that he hopes his assembly is “hopefully a place where you won’t feel a certain way because of how you’re dressed, what your past is, what you might have done on Saturday night, [or] your background.”

U.K. Boy Born With Two Percent of Brain Stunning Doctors Years After Mom Refused Abortion   Oct 16, 2016 07:02 am
noah-compressedPhoto Credit: Mark Three Media CUMBRIA, U.K. -- A now four-year-old boy who is defying the odds after being born with only two percent of a brain was featured this past week in a U.K. documentary about his miraculous story. Noah Wall first made headlines in 2014 as his mother shared about how she and her husband repeatedly refused recommendations to abort and have been pleasantly surprised at her son’s progress despite a grim prognosis.
Shelly Wall had been advised months into her 2012 pregnancy that her son had spina bifida, chromosome abnormalities and hydrocephalus. As he was not expected to survive, doctors recommended an abortion—again and again.
“We were offered termination five times,” Rob Wall recalled in the new documentary “The Boy Without a Brain.” “It was never an option for us. To me, we wanted to give Noah that chance of life.”
The couple did, however, make funeral arrangements, but on March 6, 2012, Noah was born—alive. His parents were thankful to hear his first cry.
Noah was paralyzed from the chest down and required surgery for a large hole in his back. He also had only two percent brain tissue—the rest being filled with cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), which required the implantation of a drain.
But as time went by, Noah progressed like other toddlers—talking and singing and smiling, and defying the odds.

Now, years later, doctors are now stunned to find that Noah’s brain has grown substantially and is nearly fully functional.

Clinton at Al Smith Dinner: ‘In Order to Achieve Salvation, We Need Both Faith and Good Works’   Oct 21, 2016 07:02 am
clinton-102016-compressedNEW YORK -- During Thursday night's Al Smith charity dinner in New York City, which featured speeches from both presidential candidates, Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton told those gathered that she shares a belief with Roman Catholics that to "achieve salvation," a person must have "both faith and good works." "I am not Catholic. I'm a Methodist.
“I am not Catholic. I’m a Methodist. But one of the things we share is a belief that in order to achieve salvation, we need both faith and good works,” Clinton told those gathered.
She made her remarks while speaking about the legacy of the late Al Smith, a former Democratic governor of New York who was believed to be the nation’s first Roman Catholic nominee for president. He was defeated in the 1928 election by Republican Herbert Hoover after being opposed by some for his Catholicism.
“When I think about what Al Smith went through, it is important to just reflect how groundbreaking it was for him, a Catholic, to be my party’s nominee for president,” Clinton said.
“Don’t forget, school boards sent home letters with children saying that if Al Smith is elected president, you will not be allowed to have or read a Bible.

Judge Reaffirms Nationwide Ban on Obama Admin Policy Allowing Male Students in Girls’ Restrooms
By Heather Clark on October 20, 2016
Womens Restroom-compressedFORT WORTH, Texas — A federal judge in Texas has reiterated that his previous preliminary injunction banning the enforcement of the Obama administration’s recent restroom directives for public schools applies nationwide, and has refused to budge on the matter.
“It is clear from Supreme Court and Fifth Circuit precedent that this Court has the power to issue a nationwide injunction where appropriate,” U.S. District Judge Reed O’Connor wrote on Tuesday. “A nationwide injunction is necessary because the alleged violation extends nationwide. Defendants are a group of agencies and administrators capable of enforcing their guidelines nationwide, affecting numerous state and school district facilities across the country.”
As previously reported, O’Connor determined in August that the U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Justice had not followed the proper channels in issuing the nationwide guidance, and suggested that the departments’ interpretation of federal law was incorrect.
“It cannot be disputed that the plain meaning of the term sex … following passage of Title IX meant the biological and anatomical differences between male and female students as determined at their birth,” he wrote.

‘Clergy’ Woman’s Prayer Praises Planned Parenthood for Opening Door to Fight ‘Religious Machines’ Opposing Abortion   Oct 20, 2016 07:01 am
guidry-ss-compressedNEW YORK -- Speaking at a gathering in New York City celebrating the abortion and contraception giant Planned Parenthood, a United Church of Christ clergy woman delivered a prayer thanking God that the organization made way "for women to rise up against the political, religious and patriarchal machines that sought to undermine  right to choose." Neichelle
Guidry Jones currently serves as the associate pastor to young adults at Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, and is a member of the clergy advocacy board for Planned Parenthood. She opened Sunday’s gathering at New York’s City Hall, which included a proclamation from the wife of Mayor Bill de Blasio.
“God, we thank You on this day. We thank You for the miracle of another day and for our lives,” Guidry Jones began after greeting those gathered, “and for drawing us into this sacred space and time of celebration.”
“We celebrate today that on October 16, 1916, Margaret Sanger opened the doors of the first Planned Parenthood clinic right here in New York City. And with this act of courage and resistance, the doors were opened for women to overcome the silence, and the shame, and the stigma inflicted on our sexuality,” she said.
Guidry Jones then continued to praise the organization as opening the door for women to stand against those who oppose abortion.

Barna Study: ‘More Than Four Out of Ten Evangelicals’ Rejecting Both Trump and Clinton   Oct 18, 2016 07:02 am
trump-clinton-compressed-1Photo Credit: Gage Skidmore (Trump photo)/ Zachary Moskow (Clinton photo) A recent Barna study shows that although many of those who identify as evangelical support the presidential candidacy of Republican nominee Donald Trump, more than four out of ten evangelicals currently reject both Trump and Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.  The organization surveyed 1,023 adults, including 627 likely voters, to conduct its study. Those expressing support for Trump included evangelicals (55 percent for Trump as opposed to 2 percent for Clinton), those who claim to have a biblical worldview (57 percent to 30 percent), and those who believe in absolute moral truth (48 percent to 37 percent).
Those supporting Clinton included those who profess to be Christians but are not born again (48 percent for Clinton to 36 percent for Trump), those who identify with other faiths ( 37 percent to 30 percent), atheists and agnostics (61 percent to 18 percent), and Roman Catholics (45 percent to 35 percent).
But Barna found that while some have selected a side, others have stated that they don’t feel comfortable with voting for either candidate.
“Although Trump has a huge lead over Clinton among evangelicals, the most noteworthy finding in this regard is that more than four out of ten evangelicals currently refuse to vote for either of those two candidates,” analyst George Barna said in an Oct. 10 post, outlining the results.

arrest-compressed-1Photo Credit: Federal Bureau of Investigations The Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) has announced the outcome of its annual sex trafficking bust, which resulted in the rescue of 82 minors and the arrest of 239 perpetrators. Operation Cross Country is a part of the FBI’s Innocence Lost National Initiative, which was first launched in 2003.  This year’s effort took place from Oct. 13 to 16.
“Operation Cross Country aims to shine a spotlight into the darkest corners of our society that seeks to prey on the most vulnerable of our population,” Director James Comey stated in a press release. “We are not only looking to root out those who engage in the trafficking of minors, but through our Office for Victim Assistance, we offer a lifeline to minors to help them escape from a virtual prison no person ever deserves.”
The FBI says that the effort spanned 55 FBI field offices and 74 FBI-led Child Exploitation Task Forces, as well as help from over 400 law enforcement agencies. Hundreds participated in stings in hotels, casinos, truck stops, and other locations nationwide—including on the Internet.

Air ForceWASHINGTON -- Officials with the United States Air Force have released a memo on how the branch will accommodate "transgender" airmen in matters of dress, physical fitness, and restroom and shower use. "This is another step in allowing transgender airmen to serve openly, receive medical care relating to gender transition and allow transgender individuals to join the Air Force,” Air Force Secretary Deborah Lee James in a statement. “Our strengths as a military are the quality and character of our people, and those things that make us unique are the same things that make us strong.”
The memo, written on Oct. 6 but released publicly just this week, outlines that as long as they can meet the various requirements, transgendered persons will be permitted to serve.
“It is Air Force policy that service in the United States Air Force should be open to all who can meet the rigorous standards for military service and readiness. Consistent with the policies set forth in this memorandum, transgender individuals shall be allowed to serve in the Air Force,” it states.

His words were re-Tweeted by Clinton, who also wrote, “From birth control to cancer screenings, Planned Parenthood has provided care for millions. That’s worth celebrating—and protecting.”
She likewise shared a post by Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards, who cheered Clinton for working for personal “autonomy.”
“Thank you @HillaryClinton & everyone fighting for autonomy & health for all. 100 years, and we’re just getting started. #ActStrong,” Richards wrote.

Evidence of a Young Moon? Study Forces Scientists to Rethink Lunar Dating Techniques   Oct 17, 2016 09:14 am
moonCould the moon be younger than most realize? A new study shows that craters on the moon form quicker than previously thought, which means many features on the lunar surface are not as old as astronomers had predicted. Astronomers at Arizona State University and Cornell University recently set out to measure the formation rate of craters on the moon.  To do so, they compiled thousands of high-resolution “before and after” images of the moon’s surface captured by NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter. The amount of time that elapsed between the before and after pictures varied, ranging from 176 to 1,241 days.
After collecting the images, the astronomers ran the photographs through computer software that identified any changes between the “before and after” images. The results showed that the moon’s surface as shown in the “after” images is spotted with more than 200 new craters that did not exist when the initial batch of photographs was captured.
“From this temporal dataset, we detected 222 new impact craters,” the astronomers wrote in a paper published by “Nature” on Thursday. The largest craters they identified were about 140 feet in diameter.
The scientists were surprised to find this many new impact craters on the moon’s surface because NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter launched fairly recently, in 2009. That means that all 222 of the craters identified by the researchers must have formed in the past seven years, which is 33 percent more than current models had predicted.

American Pastor Formerly Imprisoned in Iran Announces Divorce From Wife
BOISE, Idaho -- An American pastor who had been imprisoned in Iran for three years until he was freed in January in a prisoner swap with the U.S. has announced that he is divorcing his wife out of his belief that they are "different people" and that the "only path toward healing is apart." "My heart is deeply saddened to be sharing the news that Naghmeh
and I will be divorcing,” Saeed Abedini publicly posted to social media on Wednesday.
“There are no words to describe the ongoing effect of the trauma I experienced and my family has experienced both during and in the aftermath of my imprisonment. We are different people, and we are hurting people. It pains me to say, but I have decided the only path toward healing is apart, and not together,” he said.
As previously reported, Abedini, a former Iranian Muslim turned Christian, left Iran in 2005 and moved to the United States with his wife and two children to find religious freedom after facing conflict with authorities for planting house churches in the county. In 2012, he traveled back to Iran to build an orphanage and visit his parents when he was taken into custody.
He was sentenced to eight years in Iran’s notorious Evin Prison, but was transferred to to Rajai Shahr Prison in 2013, where he remained until January, when he and other Americans were set free in a prisoner swap with Iran.
But last November, his wife Naghmeh, who had been tirelessly urging the U.S. government to work toward Abedini’s release, announced that she would place her efforts on hold, citing marital issues.
“It is very serious stuff and I cannot live a lie anymore,” she wrote in an email to supporters. “So, I have decided to take a break from everything and seek the Lord on how to move forward.”

Colorado College Student Charged After Using Skewer to Forcibly Abort Girlfriend’s Baby   Oct 08, 2016 12:19 pm
COLORADO SPRINGS, Co. -- A Saudi man attending college in the United States on a student VISA has been charged with unlawful termination of a pregnancy and sexual assault after he allegedly used a skewer to forcibly abort the child his girlfriend was carrying.
Ahmed Almesbahi, 23, is a student at University of Colorado Colorado Springs and studies mechanical engineering. In May, his girlfriend, a Kazakh immigrant, contacted police to state that she had been assaulted by Almesbahi in August 2015 and the incident resulted in the death of her unborn child.
According to The Gazette, police obtained evidence that the woman had been pregnant that year and were provided with a cell phone photograph of the aborted baby, which was expelled from her body in a mall restroom.
Police state that he had told his girlfriend that “his father would kill him unless we got rid of the pregnancy.” The woman states that the two had married, but Almesbahi denies that the two are wed.

Christian Scientist Fired for Challenging Evolution Awarded Financial Settlement   Oct 10, 2016 07:02 am
Armitage IILOS ANGELES – An evangelical Christian scientist who was fired after discovering evidence that seemingly contradicted the evolutionary timeframe has been awarded a generous settlement after taking his case to court. As previously reported, Mark Armitage was a scientist at California State University—Northridge (CSUN) who discovered soft tissues on a large. triceratops horn that was believed to be at least 65 million years old. However, the discovery became mired in controversy when Armitage described his findings in a journal article.
“In the paper, I just presented the factual data,” Armitage said. “The only conclusions I drew were that ‘This needs to be investigated further. We have a lot of work to do.’”
Other scientists at the university were not pleased with Armitage’s discovery, evidently thinking that he was trying to promote evidence against evolution. His supervisor reportedly stormed into his lab on one occasion and shouted, “We will not tolerate your religion in this department!”

Republicans Begin Revoking Endorsement Over Trump’s Bragging About Sexually Assaulting Women   Oct 08, 2016 01:51 pm
Photo Credit: Gage SkidmorePhoto Credit: Gage Skidmore WASHINGTON -- A number of Republican leaders nationwide are beginning to revoke their endorsement of Donald Trump's presidential candidacy after audio and video surfaced on Friday of Trump bragging about sexually assaulting women in 2005, including seeking to have sexual relations with a married woman. "This is not a decision that I have reached lightly, but his pattern of behavior has left me no choice,” Sen. Mike Crapo, R-Idaho, said in a statement Saturday. “His repeated actions and comments toward women have been disrespectful, profane and demeaning.”
“I wanted to be able to support my party’s nominee, chosen by the people, because I feel strongly that we need a change in direction for our country. However, I’m a mom and an American first, and I cannot and will not support a candidate for president who brags about degrading and assaulting women,” also remarked Sen. Kelly Ayotte, R-N.H.

practice or policy, but because of the varied individual opinions expressed publicly by members of the Johns Hopkins Medicine community,” wrote Dr. Paul Rothman, dean of medical faculty, and Ronald Peterson, president of Johns Hopkins Health System, in an email letter sent on Oct. 7 to students and alumni.

James Dobson of Focus on the Family said in a statement on Tuesday that while he agreed the tape was terrible, it wasn’t enough to make him change his mind, citing the “cast the first stone” clause from the biblical account of the woman caught in adultery.

Archaeologists Uncover ‘Fascinating’ Evidence of Bible’s King Hezekiah in Israel   Oct 03, 2016 08:30 am
lachish-gateTEL LACHISH, Israel – Archaeologists digging out the ruins of an enormous ancient gate in Israel have discovered evidence that confirms one of the Old Testament’s historical accounts of King Hezekiah. In January of this year, archaeologists began an archaeological excavation in Tel Lachish National Park, which is located in central Israel about 25 miles Tel Lachish National Park, which is located in central Israel about 25 miles southwest of Jerusalem. The park marks the site of the ancient city of Lachish, which is mentioned nearly two dozen times in the Bible and played a role in several biblical accounts.
Described by some archaeologists as the most important city in Judah after Jerusalem, Lachish was a prosperous and heavily-fortified center until the Assyrians destroyed it around 700 B.C.
Several decades ago, researchers partially uncovered the remains of an ancient gate at Lachish that is believed to be nearly 3,000 years old, dating back to Lachish’s prime during the First Temple period (1000-600 B.C.). City gates were important places in Bible times, because city leaders and government officials would regularly convene there.

Catholic School Sued for $1 Million for Prohibiting Student From Bringing Homosexual Date to Dance   Oct 05, 2016 07:43 pm
sanderson-compressedMEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A Roman Catholic high school in Tennessee has been sued for $1 million after it prohibited a homosexual student from bringing a boy as his date to the school dance. According to reports, last September, all-male Christian Brothers High School (CBHS) student Lance Sanderson asked for permission to bring a male student from another school
as his homecoming date.
His request was denied, but he was told it was for “logistical reasons” as the student was from another school. CBHS does not allow boys from other schools to attend the homecoming dance.
“CBHS students may attend the dance by themselves, with other CBHS students, or with a girl from another school. For logistical reasons, boys from other schools may not attend,” its policy reads.
Sanderson had come out to Principal Chris Fay in 2012, and alleges in his lawsuit that Fay “acted as if he were ashamed, embarrassed and disapproving of” Sanderson’s homosexuality.
Following the denial, Sanderson posted about the matter on Facebook and was suspended a week after going public on the issue, which generated media attention. He also launched a petition on Change.org.

Petition Drive Underway in Florida to Criminalize Abortion as First-Degree Murder   Oct 03, 2016 05:16 pm
newborn-ii-compressedTAMPA, Fla. -- A petition drive is underway in Florida in an effort to place a measure on the 2018 ballot that would amend the state constitution to criminalize abortion as murder. "Inasmuch as abortion deprives an innocent human being of the inalienable right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, any person who performs or procures an abortion shall be guilty of premeditated murder in the first degree, and any person who attempts to perform or procure an abortion shall be guilty of felony attempted murder,” the proposed constitutional amendment reads.
It defines abortion as being “the use or prescription of any instrument, medicine, drug, or any other substance or device, to intentionally kill an unborn human being” and marks conception as beginning at fertilization as opposed to conception.
Abolish Abortion Florida, which is behind the effort, says that the goal of the petition is not only to collect enough signatures to make it on the 2018 ballot, but to also encourage politicians to put forward legislation that would outlaw abortion rather than regulate it.

Planned Parenthood President Says She ‘Doesn’t Know’ When Unborn Have Constitutional Rights   Oct 06, 2016 04:33 pm
RichardsAMES, Iowa -- The president of the abortion and birth control giant Planned Parenthood told an Iowa radio station this week that she doesn't know when a baby has constitutional rights, and that it's "not the problem we are facing in America." Cecile Richards, daughter of former Texas Gov. Ann Richards, has been campaigning this week in Iowa for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, and on Tuesday was interviewed by WHO Newsradio.
During the conversation, host Doug Wagner noted that Hillary Clinton has stated that the unborn don’t have constitutional rights under the law, and asked if Richards believes it should stay that way.
“Is that something that needs to be changed in your opinion, or should we be fine with an unborn person not having constitutional rights?” Wagner asked.

Nearly 9,000 Join Brief to Supreme Court in Support of School Board’s Refusal to Allow Girl in Boys’ Restroom   Oct 02, 2016 05:31 pm
urinal-credit-bob-smith-compressedWASHINGTON -- Nearly 9,000 people added their names to a legal brief this past week in support of a Virginia school board's appeal of a ruling requiring that it allow a female student who identifies as male to use the boys’ restroom. 8,914 students, parents and other residents from across the country included their name in the friend of the court brief filed by the religious liberties organization Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) on Wednesday. Over 40 state family policy organizations, such as the Family Policy Institute of Washington, North Carolina Values, and the New Yorker’s Family Research Foundation, were a part of the brief as well. “Placing students in circumstances where their privacy is compromised and they are at risk of bodily exposure in the vicinity of members of the opposite sex is not only demeaning and humiliating, but also denies individuals’ personal dignity,” it reads.

kaine-debate-compressedFARMVILLE, Va. -- During the first vice presidential debate for the 2016 election, Tim Kaine, the running mate of Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, reiterated his support for keeping abortion legal despite his own personal identity as a Roman Catholic. Kaine, as well as Trump running mate Mike Pence, were asked by moderator Elaine Quijano of CBS
News to outline an instance when they had difficulty reconciling their faith with their politics.
“Can you discuss in detail a time when you struggled to balance your personal faith and a public policy position?” she asked.
“I try to practice my religion in a very devout way and follow the teachings of my church in my own personal life. But I don’t believe in this nation, a First Amendment nation, where we don’t raise any religion over the other, and we allow people to worship as they please, that the doctrines of any one religion should be mandated for everyone,” Kaine replied.

JERUSALEM — Researchers in Israel expressed excitement this past week after successfully using technology to decipher a 1,700-year-old scroll that was discovered in an ark inside of a Jewish synagogue.
“You can’t imagine the joy in the lab,” Pnina Shor of the Israel Antiquities Authority told the Associated Press on Wednesday.
As previously reported, the parchment had been discovered in 1970 among the remains of the ancient Ein Gedi synagogue, located on the shore of the Dead Sea. David had once sought refuge in the caves of Ein Gedi when he was being hunted by King Saul.
In approximately 600 A.D., the synagogue was destroyed by fire, and the scrolls, found over forty years ago, were discovered in the holy ark—a chest that holds parchments containing the Old Testament, known to Jews as the Tanakh.
The scrolls were “completely burned and crushed, [and] had turned into chunks of charcoal that continued to disintegrate every time they were touched,” researchers said. Nonetheless, the chunks were retrieved and placed in storage for preservation and examination.

U.S. Education Secretary Concerned Homeschoolers Aren’t Getting ‘Rapid Instructional Experience’   Sep 24, 2016 07:04 pm
HomeschoolingWASHINGTON -- U.S. Education Secretary John King told reporters this week that he is concerned that some homeschoolers aren't receiving the "rapid instructional experience" that they would normally obtain in the public school environment. King was speaking at a breakfast hosted by The Christian Science Monitor on Wednesday. During his remarks, he said that he was  worried that homeschooled children aren’t “getting the range of options that are good for all kids.”
“King said he worries that ‘students who are homeschooled are not getting kind of the rapid instructional experience they would get in school’—unless parents are ‘very intentional about it,'” the Monitor reported. “King said the school experience includes building relationships with peers, teachers and mentors—elements which are difficult to achieve in homeschooling, he said, unless parents focus on it.”

Texas Students Push Back After School District Covers Ten Commandments Following Complaint   Sep 10, 2016 05:46 pm
stickys-compressedO'DONNELL, Texas -- Students at a high school in Texas are pushing back after a prominent Church-State separation group lodged a complaint about a Ten Commandments painting hung on the wall, which resulted in the school district covering the display. "I made the decision to cover it up until I made a more informed decision about what I should do, because I
don’t want to harm the district or cause any controversy or anything,” O’Donnell Independent School District Dr. Cathy Amonett told reporters on Friday.
The Wisconsin-based Freedom From Religion Foundation had sent a letter to Amonett this week demanding that the district remove the painting, as well as a Scripture that had also been displayed on the wall at O’Donnell High School.
“By displaying a religious message in its entryway, O’Donnell ISD infringes on its students’ constitutionally protected religious freedom,” the letter read. “By endorsing a religious message, the school district violates the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment.”

Obama Lauds Buddhism, Tours Temple During Laos Trip   Sep 11, 2016 12:52 pm
obama-buddhist-temple-compressedPhoto Credit: Screenshot Reuters VIENTIANE, Laos -- During his trip to Laos on Tuesday for the East Asia Summit, Barack Obama lauded the Buddhist religion as giving "strength" to its people, and toured a Buddhist temple where he had photo-op with monks. "n countless stupas and in your daily lives, we see the strength that draws-—so many of you—from your Buddhist faith, a faith that tells you that you have a moral duty to each other, to live with kindness and honesty, and that we can help end suffering if we embrace the right mindset and the right actions,” he said during a speech at Lao National Cultural Hall in Vientiane.
“And in literature like the epic of Sinxay, we see the values that define the people of Laos, which is modesty and compassion, and resilience and hope,” Obama stated.
He also spoke of the partnership between the U.S. and Laos, and his plans to work together on educational, economic and environmental issues, as well as to continue to make amends for the 1960-1970’s bombings in the country that left millions of undetonated explosive devices throughout Laos.
“Over the years, thousands of Laotians have been killed or injured—farmers tending their fields, children playing. The wounds—a missing leg or arm—last a lifetime. And that’s why, as president, I’ve dramatically increased our funding to help remove these unexploded bombs,” Obama said.

ISIS Releases Video of Jihadis Slaughtering Prisoners Hung From Meat Hooks on Islamic Eid al-Adha   Sep 17, 2016 02:19 pm
isis-still-compressedJihadis with the barbaric Islamic group ISIS released a gruesome video this past week showing yet another twisted way that ISIS has devised to execute prisoners: hanging them from meat hooks at a slaughterhouse. According to reports, the execution took place in Deir ez-Zor, Syria and involved approximately two dozen prisoners who were accused of being spies for
the U.S. coalition against ISIS. The footage of their killing was released the Islamic holiday of Eid al-Adha, which commemorates Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son (Muslims believe it was Ishmael on the altar while Scripture states it was Isaac).
“In some traditionally Muslim countries, families or groups of families may purchase an animal known as udhiya, usually a goat or sheep, to sacrifice,” online summaries of the holiday explain. “In these countries, groups of people may purchase a whole carcass from a butcher or slaughterhouse and divide it amongst themselves or just buy generous portions of meat for a communal meal on Eid-al-Adha.”
In the ISIS footage, instead of animals, human prisoners were hung upside down on meat hooks at a Syrian slaughterhouse and then had their throats slit like livestock. Their blood was drained down grates as if in a ceremonial ritual.
Christian News Network has chosen not to show the video, which the group Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently has warned should not be seen by any human. Founder Abu Mohammed characterized the gruesome footage as “the worst video we saw,” commenting that Daesh had slaughtered the men “like sheep.”

Canadian pastor is standing firm after being ordered to allow gay-straight alliances to be formed at his Christian schools. According to reports, on Sept. 2, Alberta Education Minister David Eggen sent a letter to Brian Coldwell, the chairman of the Independent Baptist Christian Education Society and pastor of New Testament Baptist Church, to demand
that he allow the alliances at his two schools as per provincial law.
Coldwell runs Meadows Baptist Academy and Harvest Baptist Academy in Parkland County.
Earlier this year, Eggen sent a letter to school boards throughout the province, advising that officials must draft and submit policies by the end of March surrounding how they would accommodate homosexual and transgender students.
But Coldwell told CBC News that he would not comply.
“I have a duty as a pastor to protect the flock of God,” he said. “And there is no way under heaven I’m going to allow gay activists to come in here and basically undermine our ministries and our religious freedoms or confuse and corrupt our children.”

U.S. Department of Housing Expands Rules to Require Admittance of Men in Women’s Homeless Shelters   Sep 21, 2016 07:19 pm
precision-made-bed-compressedWASHINGTON -- The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) released a new rule on Tuesday that requires federally-funded women's homeless shelters to admit and accommodate men who identify as women---and vice versa. “Today, we take another important step to ensure full acceptance of transgender and gender non-conforming individuals in the programs HUD supports,” HUD Secretary Julián Castro said in a statement. “This new rule will ensure equal access to the very programs that help to prevent homelessness for persons who are routinely forced to choose between being placed in facilities against their gender identity or living on our streets.”
The rule now requires shelters that receive federal funds to establish policies that will ensure that those who identify as the opposite gender will have “equal access” to the facilities.
It additionally mandates that the “individual is placed, served, and accommodated in accordance with the gender identity of the individual” and prohibit shelters from subjecting the person “to intrusive questioning or [being] asked to provide anatomical information or documentary, physical, or medical evidence of the individual’s gender identity.”
And in homeless shelters where there are shared sleeping quarters or shared restrooms, the transgender person must be allowed to use the space.
“Placement and accommodation of an individual in temporary, emergency shelters and other buildings and facilities with physical limitations or configurations that require and are permitted to have shared sleeping quarters or shared bathing facilities shall be made in accordance with the individual’s gender identity,” the rules read.

Church-State Separation Group, Methodist Minister, Sue School for ‘Pushing Religion on Students’   Sep 17, 2016 11:54 am
School-Bible-pdMESA, Ariz. -- A nationally-recognized church-state separation group has sued an Arizona charter school on behalf of a United Methodist minister and an offended parent for allegedly "pushing religion on students" by using curriculum that includes text favorable of Christianity. As previously reported, Americans United for Separation of Church and State (AU), led by Barry Lynn, an attorney who is also ordained in the United Church of Christ, sent a letter last September to Earl Taylor, Jr., the principal of Heritage Academy, which has campuses in Mesa, Gateway and Leveen, to demand that the school cease referencing Christianity in its government class.
While the organization asserted that the academy’s government class is “anchored heavily in religion,” it specifically and especially took issue with the use of a textbook called “Proclaim Liberty Throughout all the Land,” published by the National Center for Constitutional Studies, which is led by Taylor.
The book, AU says, cites the divine Creator, biblical law and judgment following death.

By Heather Clark on September 20, 20169 Comments
BUFFALO, N.Y. — Jury selection begins today in the case of a Virginia man accused of aiding an ex-lesbian turned professing Christian who fled the country with her daughter seven years ago to avoid a situation she found harmful to her child.
Philip Zodhiates of Waynesboro, Virginia is charged with international parental kidnapping and conspiracy for allegedly driving Lisa Miller and her then seven-year-old child from Virginia to New York, where she crossed over into Canada before fleeing to Nicaragua.
“This case is about religious intolerance of same-sex relationships,” prosecutorial filings state, according to the Associated Press. He “helped [Miller] break the law by taking Isabella outside the country in the name of those strong religious views.”
Zodhiates is the son of the late Dr. Spiros Zodhiates, a Greek-born Bible scholar who founded the missions and relief ministry Advancing the Ministries of the Gospel International (AMG). Dr. Zodhiates also published the Hebrew-Greek KeyWord Study Bible and was a radio and television host, teaching on the New Testament from its original Greek meaning.

Report: Those Who View Images of Aborted Babies Are Less Likely to Support Abortion   Sep 19, 2016 08:42 am
Michael Marcavage of Repent America displays the reality of abortion to passersby.CALGARY – New research from a Canadian pro-life organization shows that public support for abortion decreases measurably if people are shown images of abortion victims. Whether or not opponents of abortion should disseminate images of abortion victims is an ongoing debate within the pro-life community. While some argue that doing so in an important and effective means of persuasion, others contend that the images—which often feature bloody, mangled babies—are too graphic and unpleasant.
Now new research suggests that people are in fact prone to change their minds about abortion after viewing images of aborted infants.
“The use of abortion victim imagery in pro-life outreach is perhaps one of the most enduring debates within the pro-life movement,” wrote bioethics and public policy scholar Dr. Jacqueline Harvey in a report titled “A Statistical Analysis on the Effectiveness of Abortion Victim Photography in Pro-Life Activism.” “Although proponents cite cases of lives saved and minds changed supporting the effectiveness of the strategy, opponents insist these images impede public receptiveness to other strategies they claim could save more lives.”

Girl Who Identifies as Boy Becomes First ‘Transgender’ Allowed on School’s Football Team   Sep 23, 2016 12:04 pm
cooley-compressedHALIFAX, Canada -- A Canadian girl who identifies as a boy has become the first "transgender" player allowed on her school's football team. Kennedy Cooley, 17, transferred to Halifax West High School after students at her previous school made her feel "unaccepted" for identifying as a boy. She had heard that Halifax West would be more accepting, but was still apprehensive.
“I’d heard that a lot of the guys are like family, they really get along together, they all know each other, and they’re really close friends,” Cooley told CTV News. “I was just really nervous about going in there and maybe, somebody wasn’t okay with me being transgender.”
At Halifax West, she was permitted to join the boy’s football team.
“You feel like you’re a brother; you don’t feel like you’re a player,” the teen said. “They’re just so open and they accept you for who you are.”
“That’s what he wants to be—included—and he wants to be one of the other guys,” Cooley’s mother, Pam Reinders-Cooley, said.
Her father is likewise supportive.

Trump: Women Should Be Able to Obtain Birth Control Without Prescription   Sep 16, 2016 08:56 am
Photo Credit: Gage SkidmorePhoto Credit: Gage Skidmore Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump outlined on national television this week that he believes women should be able to obtain birth control over-the-counter, without a prescription. Appearing on the Dr. Oz Show, which aired nationwide on Thursday, Trump was asked during the program whether it "should be mandated in this country that we reimburse women for their birth control.”
“I think what we have in birth control is, you know, when you have to get a prescription, that’s a pretty tough something to climb,” he replied. “And I would say it should not be a prescription. It should not be done by prescription.”
“You have women that just aren’t able to go get a prescription,” Trump continued. “So and more and more people are coming out and saying that, but I am not in favor of prescription for birth control.”
The Republican presidential nominee’s position runs counter to the 2016 Republican Party platform, which reads, “We believe the FDA’s approval of Mifeprex, a dangerous abortifacient formerly known as RU-486, threatens women’s health, as does the agency’s endorsement of over-the-counter sales of powerful contraceptives without a physician’s recommendation.”
As previously reported, in 2013, the FDA moved the morning-after pill over-the-counter, and lowered the legal age to 15 after Judge Edward R. Korman, appointed by Ronald Reagan, blasted the Obama administration for not making Plan B, and other generic variations of the pill, available to all ages.
However, some pro-life leaders believe that the morning-after pill is actually an abortifacient.
Connect with Christian News
“As all pro-life folks, and many politicians for that matter, have said for years: ‘Life begins at conception,’ not implantation. While the morning-after pill may prevent implantation, for a life that is already conceived (a fertilized egg) the morning-after pill (like many forms of birth control) makes the womb, the place God designed to be a place of life and safety, a hostile environment so that the baby can’t implant and continue to live and grow. This is by definition elective abortion,” Daniel Parks, the executive director of the Charlotte, North Carolina chapter of Cities4Life, told Christian News Network last year.
He explained that at the moment of conception, a person is already encoded with the unique DNA that makes them a special and separate entity.
“At the moment that the sperm meets the egg (which can be anywhere from a few hours to a few days) a brand new and unique human life is conceived,” Parks outlined. “23 chromosomes from Mom and 23 chromosomes from Dad. All the genetic information that makes that person distinct is present.”
Parks, the director of an organization that regularly conducts ministry at local abortion facilities and often assists women even after giving birth, said that while some situations that lead to pregnancy are certainly traumatic and sinful, killing an unborn child does not right the wrong.
“Although situations of rape are always very grievous and I can only imagine what a young lady in that situation is going through, this can’t be a reason for us to compromise our stance that all human life should be protected and ‘life begins at conception,’” he stated. “And if we’re going to be consistent and always ‘err on the side of life,’ then to stand on our convictions we can not support and most certainly can not champion things like the morning-after pill.”

SEPTEMBER 14, 2016
This weekend, the Archbishop of Vienna added his name to the growing list of prelates who are publicly recognizing that the ultimate aim of many Muslims is the conquest of Europe.

In his homily at Sunday Mass, Cardinal Christoph Schönborn (pictured) warned that “Europe is on the verge of forfeiting its Christian heritage,” noting that this loss, which is already being felt, is “not only economic, but above all human and religious.”

Cardinal Schonborn

The Viennese Cardinal asked the large congregation gathered in Saint Stephen’s cathedral church: “Will there be an Islamic conquest of Europe?”

“Many Muslims want that and say: ‘Europe is finished,’” he said.

The Mass celebrated on 9/11 commemorated the Catholic feast of the “Holy Name of Mary,” which was instituted 332 years ago in gratitude for the liberation of Vienna from the Ottoman Turks. The Battle of Vienna, between the allied Christian forces and 90,000 Islamic invaders, was waged on September 11 and 12, 1683, and marked the turning point in Europe’s 300-year struggle against Islam.

Against this serious backdrop man must first rely on the mercy of God, the Cardinal said. “God have mercy on Europe and on thy people, who are in danger of forfeiting our Christian heritage,” he prayed.

The feast also coincided with the tenth anniversary of Pope Benedict XVI’s historic “Regensburg Address,” in which he spoke of the important relationship between faith and reason, underscoring differences between the Christian understanding of God and the Muslim concept of Allah.

Whereas for Christians, “not to act in accordance with reason is contrary to God’s nature,” Benedict said, “for Muslim teaching, God is absolutely transcendent. His will is not bound up with any of our categories, even that of rationality.”

Benedict offered these reflections after having quoted a 14th-century Byzantine emperor Manuel II Paleologus regarding the place of violence in Islamic practice.

“Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached,” the citation ran.

Although Benedict acknowledged that the emperor spoke with a “startling brusqueness,” which today “we find unacceptable,” his remarks set off a wave of Muslim retaliation.

An Italian nun was shot to death in Somalia hours after a leading Somali cleric condemned the Pope’s comments. Five churches were firebombed on the West Bank and Gaza strip, while in India and Iraq the pontiff was burned in effigy.

Pakistan’s parliament adopted an official resolution condemning the pope, and its Foreign Ministry demanded that the Vatican’s ambassador apologize for Benedict’s remarks.

SEPTEMBER 14, 2016
Parents at an east London school are furious because they were given just “three days’ notice” that the school would be partially closing for the Muslim holy festival Eid al-Adha.

Chobham Academy
Chobham Academy, an independent mixed academy with 1,800 pupils ranging from ages three to 18, informed parents last week its nursery, reception, and Year 1 and 2 classes would not be held on Monday due to a “high number of staff requesting leave for religious observance, giving families just days to find childcare arrangements.”
“Please accept my sincere apologies for the short notice which could not be helped and for the disruption to the beginning of the new academic year,” the school’s primary principal, Mark Elms, said in a letter to parents.
The school has been accused by critics of penalizing working parents.
“It’s outrageous that they have done this at such short notice,” one disgruntled mom told the Sun.
“We wouldn’t mind if it was included in the school calendar so we all knew well in advance that this was happening but to suddenly spring it on us just three days before is unacceptable.
“People have jobs and lives and will find it difficult to get childcare at such short notice,” added the woman, who did not want to be named.
Another parent at the school, Pedro Martin, who works as a Spanish tutor, told the MailOnline that he was forced to take time off work to look after his two sons, aged four and six.
