Why is the Dept. of Education Promoting Islam to School Kids?
Home > Political Islam > In the US > Public Issues
BY GUEST CONTRIBUTOR Thursday, April 13, 2017
by Dan Miller
The U.S. Department of Education has proselytized in our public schools on behalf Islam for many years through its “Access Islam” program. Federally funded, it is directed at children in grades 5 through 12. The Christian Action Network recently demanded that President Trump’s recently confirmed Education Secretary, Betsy DeVos, terminate the program.
According to an article at Breitbart, a predecessor program began during the Bush administration in 2005. It “simply taught students about the traditions, culture, and holidays of Islam. Then, it became greatly expanded under the Obama administration. It has continued to develop, and now has had a greater, broader outreach.”

Meet Hind…

Special to Clarion Project by Anwar El-Iraqi
Hind, 43, lives with her elderly mother. She paints, swims, writes poetry, plays soccer and enjoys fixing electrical items and motor vehicles – a “veritable man trapped in a woman’s body,” she said in an interview with Clarion contributor Anwar El-Iraqi.
Hind follows Clarion Project on Twitter. The following is Anwar’s full interview with Hind which was conducted via WhatsApp:
Clarion: What are the main obstacles standing before you and other Saudi women, and how do you overcome them?
Hind: Nothing is easy, so it’s hard to talk about things that are particularly difficult. There’s nothing we can do. We can’t really live. We can’t register for school or study unless it’s via our guardian. We can’t travel unless it’s with a guardian. We can’t even get an ID card unless it’s via someone who knows you.
We can only go out if we are on foot or if we stop a car and pay the driver a huge amount much to take us. All a Saudi woman owns is the clothes she wears and a small amount of money (which buys little).
Saudi women simply can’t make decisions concerning themselves.

Integration of Muslims in U.S., West Might Be Easier Than Seems
BY RAN MEIR Thursday, April 13, 2017
(Photo Eduardo Munoz Alvarez / Getty Images)
Integration is one of the measures by which one measures the progressiveness of a society. Equal opportunities for all should be a given in a democratic society. For integration to work requires more than mere equality.
We shouldn’t only look within our own communities, which is of course the easiest thing to do and the default mode. Rather, we must look beyond these walls.
Muslims in the West are in a difficult position. Many want to integrate but factors such as religious differences, sharia law, traditions and the status of women pile up.
The greatest problem is of course the spread of terror from other parts of the world. The disaffected are the most influenced by radical ideas. The least integrated are the most prone to carrying out terror attacks.
For integration to succeed we need to demonstrate how it contributes to creating a better environment for all, including the Muslims themselves. This trumps a mutual focus on negatives and suspicions of the unknown.
The Solution
Societal groups should put a greater emphasis on recognizing their similarities and their differences.

Iran Sanctions: The Next Necessary Step
BY SHAHRIAR KIA Thursday, April 13, 2017
An Iranian Shiite militia in Iraq (Photo: Reuters)
The United States has imposed sanctions on 30 foreign companies or individuals for transferring sensitive technology to Iran for its missile program or for violating export controls on Iran. The new sanctions imposed on entities and individuals who have assisted the Iranian regime’s missile program comprise a positive step to prevent the mullahs’ expanding missile program, which pursues no objective but warmongering and the spread of fundamentalism.
Designating the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO), and imposing sanctions against all its affiliated institutions and entities is a necessary and important measure to stop Tehran’s belligerent and terrorist activities in the region.
When it comes to the question of Iran, a change of guards in Washington has also brought a new, significant and change bearing high potential.
The past 12 months a deal aimed at curbing the Iran nuclear program was in full effect and it is quite obvious how negative the agreement was and is. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) found a second major violation in November of Iran exceeding the 130 metric tons heavy water limits. This is a serious matter and quite consequential.
Iran’s ballistic missile tests, in violation of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1929 and 2231, are also sources of grave concern. The recent behavior has been seen again from Tehran in Persian Gulf waters, harassing U.S. Navy ships on two different occasions are all aspects of the belligerence seen from Tehran.

What Do the Jihadis Really Want?
Home > Political Islam > In the US
BY DANIEL PIPES Wednesday, April 12, 2017

Pro-Taliban Afghanis (Photo: Reuters)
A question often asked is, “What do the jihadis [Mujahideen] want?” The answer is surprisingly obscure, as most of their attacks do not include clear demands.

The horrific attacks on Mumbai in November 2008 and on Paris in November 2015 were carried out by suicide squads, with gunmen carrying out mass shootings. Elsewhere, they have resorted to machine gun assaults, beheadings, bombings, hijackings etc. After the attackers have been neutralized by the security forces, an assessment is carried out of the damage they caused and detectives attempt to trace the identities of the perpetrators, to look into possible motives. Shadowy websites then make post-hoc unauthenticated claims, which still belie the question, “What do the jihadis want?”

Motives for Jihadi Attacks

Why do the motives go unexplained? Post the attacks on the United States on 11 September 2001, analysts are still speculating on the likely motives. In broad terms however, we can state that there are two general categories or motives for attacks.

The first is to change specific policies of the state which has been targeted. As an example, this could pertain to seeking withdrawal of foreign troops from Iraq and Afghanistan or to get Riyadh to expel foreign troops from its soil. It could also be aimed at pressuring governments to end support for Israel or to pressure New Delhi to cede control over Kashmir.

The second category is more broad-based and is aimed at weakening non-Muslims in general, undermining their economy, creating fear in the minds of their populace and attempting to establish Muslim superiority. But both the categories point to something even larger. The jihadis seek to establish a world dominated by Muslims, Islam, Shari’a and the caliphate.

We see jihad take two forms, based on the relative strength of the Muslim population in an area. Where non-Muslims rule, the attempt is to gain control over the levers of power, and to be in charge. The aim is to overthrow kafir rule. There is no direct attempt to convert, but the war is a war for territory. Where Muslims rule, the aim is to apply Shari’a in its entirety. The hope or end state is for a pious, just, ruler who can make Muslims strong and rich and who can end their divisions. The end state of both is however a global caliphate. The Caliph rules over all the peoples of the world and implements Shari’a law in its entirety.

Brief History

The succession to Muhammad saw deep divisions in Islam which remain to this day. At the heart of the dispute was who would occupy the prophet’s place at the head of the Muslim community, which even now creates a divide amongst Shias and Sunnis. The successors to Muhammad, however, oversaw the great Islamic conquests for the next three hundred years. The executive caliphate ended in 940s and though the title passed on, it was nominal. The last Abbasid caliphate in Baghdad ended in 1258 CE, following the Mongol sack of Baghdad. During the latter half of the Abbasid rule, Muslim rulers had however started using other titles, such as sultan. Atatürk ended the caliphate on 3 March 1924, but the idea lived on as seen in the [Indian] Khilafat movement from 1919-26.

The more recent articulations of a caliphate have been of Osama bin Laden, who wanted a “pious caliphate [that] will start from Afghanistan”. His successor, Ayman al-Zawahiri, envisioned a caliphate through which, “history would make a new turn.” As per Fazlur Rehman Khalil, another al-Qaeda leader: “Due to the blessings of jihad, America’s countdown has begun. It will declare defeat soon,” and will be followed by a caliphate. In 2005, al-Qaeda started the Sawt al-Khalifa radio station.

The Caliphate

Pronouncements by certain leaders and a general feeling amongst the population gave a sense that a caliphate was in the offing. At a Hizb ut-Tahrir meeting in Copenhagen, its imam, Muziz Abdullah, surveyed a hall filled to standing-room only capacity. “Ten years ago, when I started, it was totally unrealistic to think there could be a caliphate,” he stated. “But now, people believe it could happen in a few years.” Fatih Alev, an imam in Copenhagen, stated: “As of now, the caliphate is totally irrelevant. As of tomorrow, it could be relevant. I would not exclude it.”

There was a sense of imminence of a caliphate amongst the common people too. As per Kerem Acar, a tailor in central Istanbul: “I won’t live to see it, and my children won’t, but one day maybe my children’s children will see someone declare himself the caliph, like the pope, and have an impact.” Ertugul Örel, a cafe owner in Istanbul, expressed a hope for the caliphate, but did not believe it would come about. “A caliphate means, there would be [only] one voice,” he said. “But I know, neither the Americans nor the Europeans will ever allow it.” Ali Bulaç, a Turkish authority on Islam and Turkey was quite explicit when he stated, “The concept of the caliphate is very much alive in the collective memory of society.”

Much the same view was expressed by Zeyno Baran, an expert on Hizb ut-Tahrir. “A few years ago people laughed at [it]. But now that bin Laden, Zarqawi, & [others] are saying they want to recreate the caliphate, people are taking them seriously.” Posters with big, bright-red lettering calling for the establishment of an Islamic Caliphate in Lebanon can now be seen around many streets in Sidon, pasted up by members of Hizb ut-Tahrir. The posters call for “reviving an Islamic Caliphate state after the enemies in the malicious and colonial West underestimated our spiritual force. We will only come out strong with an Islamic state’.”

As per James Brandon in the Christian Science Monitor: “Hizb ut-Tahrir promises that a revived caliphate will end corruption and bring prosperity. … It will let Muslims challenge, and ultimately conquer, the West.” He quotes Abdullah Shakr, a Jordanian member of the group: “The Muslim world has resources like oil but it lacks the leadership that will rule us by Islamic law and make this jihad that the whole world is afraid of.” Shakr indicates that the caliphate’s success will bring more conversions to Islam and turn the whole world Muslim. However, the route to the Caliphate, as propagated by Hizb ut-Tahrir is gradual and mostly peaceful. For the al-Qaeda, it is violent and revolutionary.

Non-Muslim Views

Beyond the Muslim world, the understanding was of a different order.

In 2004, Dick Cheney when talking about Osama bin Laden, explicitly stated that “they talk about wanting to re-establish what you could refer to as the seventh-century caliphate,” to be “governed by Sharia law, the most rigid interpretation of the Koran,” he said.

Many others in the George W. Bush administration followed suit and in 2005, The Daily Telegraph, rang the warning bells, stating, “Fanatics around the world dream of the Caliph’s return”

The idea did seem impossible at that time and the Bush-hating Left, including Islam specialists (Kenneth M. Pollack, John L. Esposito, Shibley Telhami) pooh-poohed the whole topic. Investigative journalist Robert Dreyfuss was rather dismissive of the idea of the aspiration to a caliphate. He described as ‘idiotic’ the notion that Islamist forces wished to establish a caliphate from North Africa to Southeast Asia. “This was utter nonsense”, he said. “What was happening was that those in the administration who made such declarations based them on what they read on al-Qaeda and other jihadi websites.” “Such threats,” he added, “were in the nature of fantasies and should be treated as such.”

A Caliphate Exists

When a Caliphate suddenly appeared on June 29, 2014, announced by an “Islamic State” and headed by Caliph Ibrahim, it was unanticipated. The announcement was followed by spectacular military victories, especially Mosul, which gave it unique global prestige. Groups such as Boko Haram paid it homage and it had an electrifying effect on Sunni Muslims. The potential impact of the Islamic state as a Caliphate is that it boosts the dream of a single rule across “Islamdom” and beyond, inspires others to do the same, and radicalizes Islamist movements.

What Can We Expect in Wake of Syria Chemical Attack?
Watch

The recent chemical attack in Syria, which experts say was perpetrated by the Assad regime, claimed at least 72 civilian lives, including 20 children, and injured more than 500 people. Two different gases were used, according to Doctors Without Borders: sarin and chlorine.

After the chemical strike, we asked you, our readers if Syria would be better with or without Assad. The results were as follows:

Syria would be better without Assad: 50.50 %

Syria would be better with Assad: 49.50 %

Although the vote was practically even, most readers who sent us comments (see below) on the question thought that Assad is the lesser of two evils and at least he is secular.

Note the latest developments in the Syrian civil war, which has claimed 400,000 lives and created millions of fleeing refugees:

Russia is deploying a warship armed with cruise missiles to the Port of Tartus on the Syrian coast.
The U.S. said its specifically did not strike a stockpile of sarin gas stored at the Syrian airbase.
The U.S. navy sent four warships (the SS Ramage, USS Mahan, USS Gravely and USS Barry) to the eastern Mediterranean Sea. The ships are armed with ballistic missiles, including launching Tomahawk cruise missiles.
Russia froze the agreement with U.S. over coordinating air operations over Syria.
Russia vowed to beef up Syria’s air defense systems.
Assad and Russia denied responsibility for the chemical attack. The leaders of Germany and France said Assad “bears sole responsibility” for the gas attack.
Destroyed in the attack were a warehouse of material and technical property, a training building, a canteen, six MIG-23 aircraft in repair hangars. A Russian TV reporter at the base claimed nine planes were destroyed.

Would Syria Be Better With or Without Assad?
Home > Human Rights > Human Rights Violators > Lack of Basic Freedoms
BY ELLIOT FRIEDLAND Wednesday, April 5, 2017
A sarin gas attack killed dozens of civilians in Idlib province in Syria. It is believed to have been carried out by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad against his own people. According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights at least 72 people were killed, including children.

The Syrian regime denied responsibility for the attack. Russia issued a statement blaming the rebels, saying a Syrian regime airstrike hit a factory filled with poisonous mines destined for use in Iraq.

Would Syria be better with or without Assad? Take our poll below.

The Trump administration said Assad and his allies Russia and Iran bore “great moral responsibility” for the massacre.

“Today’s attack is reprehensible and cannot be ignored by the civilized world,” White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said at a news briefing. “These heinous actions by the Bashar al-Assad regime are a consequence of the past administration’s weakness and irresolution. President Obama said in 2012 that he’d establish a red line against the use of chemical weapons and then did nothing. The U.S. stands with our allies across the globe to condemn this intolerable act.”

Atrocities like this are the reason for the rebellion against the Assad regime which has gone on since 2011. Assad’s callous disregard for the lives of his people and his ruthless commitment to remaining in power at all costs are destroying his country.

When faced with a choice of being bombed with sarin gas by a cruel dictator, or taking up arms and fighting to remove that dictator, even if the people fighting to remove him are Islamist extremists, it is entirely understandable why people who otherwise would not support that ideology would throw their lot in with jihadi groups.

Since the beginning of the war Assad has attempted to present the West with a binary choice between him and terrorist factions. A former Syrian intelligence official said in 2014 that Assad deliberately released extremist prisoners in order to subvert the initially peaceful protests and force this binary.

As moderate groups have been gradually eroded over the long six years of war, that binary is increasingly close to being a reality. It can be tempting to think of the Assad regime as the only bulwark against a fully-fledged terrorist state.

Yet it is precisely the actions of Assad that are creating the conditions for terrorist groups to thrive in the first place. ISIS was originally al-Qaeda in Iraq and was only able to establish a base in Syria as a result of the chaos of the war, a war which started and continued because of Assad’s crimes.

If Trump is serious about tackling radical Islam, he has to make a choice.

Either he accepts the premise of the regime, namely that President Bashar al-Assad, however horrific his crimes, is the only alternative to Islamists, in which case he has to explain why children dying in a sarin gas attack is less bad than the crimes of ISIS. Or he has to take action to remove Assad from power and tackle the root cause of the rise of terrorism in Syria.

Take our poll:

Dog Sacrifices Life to Save Wedding From Terrorist
Home > World > Nigeria
BY ELLIOT FRIEDLAND Tuesday, April 4, 2017

Illustrative picture. (Photo: Stewart Black/Creative Commons)
Dozens of people at a wedding were saved from almost certain death by the timely actions of dog in Nigeria, according to local media reports.

A teenage suicide bomber attempted to enter the wedding party in Maiduguri. But at the entrance she was attacked by a dog, belonging to a local resident. The girl wrestled to release herself from the dog’s grip and detonated her suicide vest.

Because the dog intercepted the suicide bomber before she entered the wedding hall, the bomb went off outside. The only casualty was the dog, who died along with the suicide bomber herself.

The incident came after three suspected suicide bombers were intercepted and shot at Muna and Dusuman villages near Maiduguri.

How Well Do You Know the United Nations?
Home > Political Islam > In the US > National Security
BY ELLIOT FRIEDLAND Thursday, April 6, 2017
The United Nations Security Council just saw heated scenes with Russia accused of protecting Syrian regime President Bashar al-Assad from facing justice over a chemical weapons attack that killed nearly 100 civilians, including children, in rebel-held Idlib.

Yet allegations of corruption in the U.N. date back decades.

How well do you know the U.N.’s relationship with radical Islam?

Please take our quiz to find out (answers at the bottom of the page).

AFTER YOU TAKE THE QUIZ please sign our letter to call on President Trump’s administration to follow through with its draft order and establish a commission to determine which U.N. departments and organizations need to be defunded by the United States because of their connection with terrorism.

QUIZ

From 2012 to 2015 the 120 member non-aligned movement was headed by which country?
Which country, in 2015, was elected chair of the United Nations Human Rights Council panel that appoints independent experts?
What is the only country in the world to be a standing item on the U.N. Human Rights Council agenda, leading the UK to slam the body for “disproportionate focus” on that country?
Which terrorist organization stored weapons in U.N. schools?
In what year did the 57-nation Organization of the Islamic Conference voting bloc drop its longstanding campaign to censure “defamation” against religion in the U.N., instead switching to supporting resolutions targeting “intolerance, discrimination and violence” against religious people rather than the faith itself?
In what year did Islamic member states of the U.N. Human Rights Council reject language giving women “the right to control matters concerning their sexual lives as well as their reproductive health without coercion, discrimination or violence” in a resolution calling for the elimination of violence against women.
2001 was the U.N. “Year of Dialogue Among Civilizations.” The President of which country came up with the idea of Dialogue Among Civilizations, and organized the initiative in collaboration with the U.N. and UNESCO?
Which United Nations body in 2016 passed a resolution denying the Jewish connection to the Temple Mount, the holiest site in Judaism, instead insisting the area only be referred to using its Muslim names?
How much money did Saudi Arabia give to the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Center, which has not investigated Saudi funding of extremism worldwide?
What is the name of the draft executive order put together in January 2017 by the Trump administration which would reduce the funding of any organizations within the U.N. which “is controlled or substantially influenced by any state that sponsors terrorism” by “at least 40%.”

Canada: The Niqab Enters the Nursery
Home > World > Canada
BY JOHN GODDARD Wednesday, April 5, 2017

A worker in a pre-school in Canada in a niqab (Photo: John Goddard)
Last week at the downtown YMCA pre-school in Toronto, Canada, reporters observed a childcare worker covered head to toe in black cloth, with only her hands showing and eyeglasses poking through an eye slit.

The federal minister of families, children and social development, Jean-Yves Duclos, arrived to give a news conference on childcare policy but first sat down to play with preschool children for the cameras. The worker in the niqab sat at a second table with other children and did not interact with the minister. The children and minders then cleared the room for the briefing.

Asked afterward when the YMCA started hiring women in niqabs, senior vice-president for child and family development Linda Cottes said the “Y” has never excluded women wearing the niqab. Asked again when such hiring started, she said only, “We are inclusive.”

Nursery school teachers are welcome to wear the full-face Islamic veil, or niqab, at the Young Men’s Christian Association of Greater Toronto, says Egyptian-born president and CEO Medhat Mahdy.

“A woman is allowed to wear the niqab if she chooses,” he says in a written statement released this week through his spokesperson. “We also perform stringent background checks for all our employees, student placements, and volunteers.”

Spokesperson Antoine Tedesco later clarified that the woman in the niqab was a student placement worker, not an employee. He declined all other questions, among them: How many staff members wear the niqab, and what is Medhat Mahdy’s religious background?

“People [at the “Y”] are free to dress and express themselves as they see fit,” he said on Mahdy’s behalf, “as long as it does not threaten or infringe on the rights of others.”

Speaking for the Ontario Ministry of Education, Heather Irwin similarly said teachers and students are free to wear the niqab in all the province’s daycare centers and all publicly-funded educational institutions.

The endorsements are part of a Canadian trend.

Elsewhere in the world, including some Muslim-majority countries, leaders view the niqab as a symbol of female oppression and a flag of Islamic extremism. In Britain, Holland, France, Germany, Denmark, the Philippines, China, Turkey, Syria, Tunisia and Egypt — Mahdy’s native country — lawmakers have passed full or partial niqab bans in schools and elsewhere, or are preparing legislation to do so.

In Canada, however, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau goes out of his way to support the niqab.

“We need societies that recognize diversity as a source of strength,” he told the World Economic Forum last year in Davos, Switzerland.

In one of his first acts as prime minister, Trudeau allowed Pakistani immigrant Zunera Ishaq to wear a niqab while taking her Canadian citizenship oath, after the outgoing Conservative government stopped her. Ishaq works as a women’s coordinator for the Islamist group, Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) and has expressed support for the Pakistani Muslim Brotherhood, the Jamaat e-Islami.

Increasingly, Canadian politicians are also moving to silence all forms of public criticism of Islam.

Last month, Trudeau’s Liberal government led a parliamentary motion to condemn religious discrimination and “Islamophobia.” Introducing the motion was Toronto-area Member of Parliament Iqra Khalid, a Pakistani immigrant and former president of the York University Muslim Students Association, an Islamist group.

When opposition Conservatives asked her to remove the term “Islamophobia” or explicitly condemn anti-Jewish and anti-Christian bigotry as well, she refused. Similarly, she refused to define “Islamophobia.”

Two months ago, the Ontario provincial legislature also passed an “anti-Islamophobia” motion with unanimous all-party support.

The result is a national chill. No politician or civic leader now dares challenge the niqab or burka.

Ironically, Canada marks the 100th anniversary this week of the First World War Battle of Vimy Ridge, said to have forged Canada’s sense of nationhood. At a cost of 10,000 casualties, including 3,600 dead, all four divisions of the Canadian Corps of the British army fought victoriously to take the hill from the Germans in northern France, inch by pitiless inch.

Today, Canadian political and civic leaders figuratively cede ground, bit by willing bit, to symbols of Islamist tyranny.

Jamaat ul-Fuqra in U.S. Still Active Threat: Federal Source
Home > Political Islam > In the US > National Security
BY RYAN MAURO Monday, April 3, 2017
Khalifa Hussain Abdallah, (foreground) known as ‘K1’ for his top ranking as an original founder of the group, is said to be a key supervisor of preparations for armed conflict. (Photo: Courtesy)
A retired federal source with direct experience in dealing with a jihadist cult in America known as Muslims of the Americas (Jamaat ul-Fuqra) states that law enforcement remains “very concerned” about the group’s activity, despite MOA’s proclaimed moderation and supportive comments made by some local sheriffs.

Muslims of the Americas (MOA) was know as Jamaat ul-Fuqra (a group that was listed as a terrorist organization by the U.S. State Department) until 2001 when they went underground and began changing their name and creating more fronts.

MOA is led by a radical cleric in Pakistan, Sheikh Mubarak Ali Gilani, and is best known for claiming to have 22 “Islamic villages” around the country including its 70-acre “Islamberg” headquarters in upstate New York. Iran Tried to Strike US Naval Base: Bahrain
Home > World > Bahrain
BY RYAN MAURO Sunday, April 2, 2017

The Iranian regime may have backed off of a ballistic missile test following President Trump’s sanctions and threats, but its jihad through proxies continues unabated. The U.S.-allied government of Bahrain just wrapped up another Iranian sleeper cell network that was planning to attack the base of the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet, according to the Bahraini government.

The announcement came after Bahrain arrested 14 terror suspects, 11 of which were allegedly trained directly by Iran and its barely concealed puppets. Six were trained by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), five by the Iraqi branch of Hezbollah and three got their training inside Bahrain.

The cell was led by two Bahrainis operating inside Iran, Qassim Abdullah Ali and Mortada Majid Al-Sanadi. The U.S. State Department designated al-Sanadi as a terrorist on March 17, confirming he was acting as an Iranian agent in backing the Al-Ashtar Brigades terrorist group in Bahrain.
The cell was planning assassinations of various public officials, according to the announcement. Explosives and communications devices were seized from their residences.

Update: Suspended for Challenging Radical Islam

BY MEIRA SVIRSKY Sunday, April 2, 2017

Marshall Polston (right) (Photo: Central Florida Post)
Latest: Marshall Polston, the Christian student who was suspended from Rollins College for challenging his Muslim humanities professor’s opinions, has been reinstated and will return to school this week.
The announcement was made by his lawyer, Kenneth Lewis.

The Florida Family Association started a letter-writing campaign to have Polston reinstated and the school’s trustees and deans received 10,000 letters in support of Polston.

Please join the FFA’s campaign to have Professor Areeje Zufari’s contract terminated by clicking here. Read below our original story about Zufari’s actions and how she filed a false police report against Polston.

A Christian student was suspended from his Florida university after he challenged the views of his Muslim humanities professor and those of a radical Muslim student, wrote investigative reporter Jacob Engels in the Central Florida Post.
The professor, Areeje Zufari, of Rollins College located just outside Orlando, has a history of accusations of radicalism enumerated in a law suit filed by an FBI source and from her role as a leader in the Islamic Society of Central Florida.

Twenty-year-old sophomore Marshall Polston’s troubles began when Zufari began making disparaging statements about Christianity, claiming the religion’s most basic beliefs were a hoax.
Zufari asserted that Jesus was not crucified and his followers did not believe he was God.

Human Rights Watchdog: ISIS Using 197 Kids as Human Shields
Home > Human Rights > Human Rights Violators > Child Abuse
BY DAVID HARRIS Wednesday, March 29, 2017

The Islamic State seized 197 children and is using them as human shields, according to the Iraqi Observatory for Human Rights (Arabic website).

The children are being held around the Large Mosque on the east bank of Mosul to halt the advance of the coalition forces currently trying to wrestle eastern Mosul from ISIS’ grip, said Mustafa Sa’adoun, who heads the IOHR.

The U.S. top military staffer in Iraq, Lt.-Gen. Stephen Townsend, also believes ISIS is using human shields. But, he added, this will not stop the push against ISIS:

It’s not a war crime to accidentally kill civilians … It’s unfortunate, but it’s not a crime because these solders have to make these decisions in seconds sometimes in circumstances that you cannot image unless you have experienced them.

Still, he added that the U.S. military’s investigation into the March 17 incident was focusing on what Iraqi witnesses called a deliberate plot by ISIS to put the civilians into a building where they were fighting.

“It sure looks like they were” forced into the building, Townsend said, noting that ISIS has long used human shields. “The enemy had a hand in this.”

ISIS executed 122 civilians on March 25 who had fled the a-Rifa’i and July 17 neighborhoods, said Sa’adoun.

A separate human rights organization reported 26 men were executed in front of their families in another part of the city. ISIS shot the men on March 26.

Suspended for Challenging Radical Islam

Marshall Polston (right) (Photo: Central Florida Post)
Update: Here is a copy of the email that Polston sent to Zufari that most likely contributed to his suspension.
“It was very off-putting and flat out odd. I’ve traveled the Middle East, lectured at the Salahaddin University, and immersed myself in Muslim culture for many years. Honestly, it reminded me of some of the more radical groups I researched when abroad,” Polston said.
“Whether religious or not, I believe even those with limited knowledge of Christianity can agree that according to the text, Jesus was crucified and his followers did believe he was divine,” he added.
After Polton challenged Zufari during a class discussion on these assertions, Zufari failed him on a major essay and refused to explain the reason.

Jailed for a Painting
A young, Turkish artist was sentenced to almost 3 years for a painting of Turkish forces destroying a Kurdish village
The painting was an artistic rendition of a photograph of the military operation, which included Turkish flags hung on destroyed buildings.
Zehra Dogan, a Kurdish journalist and artist who painted the destruction of the Nusaybin district of Mardin province, tweeted, “I was given two years and 10 months [jail time] only because I painted Turkish flags on destroyed buildings. However, [the Turkish government] caused this. I only painted it.” Join Clarion’s campaign to pressure Turkey because of its unacceptable Islamist policies

Thirteen states asked an appeals court to allow U.S. President Donald Trump’s revised travel ban to remain in effect, reported the Associated Press.
The representatives from the states (12 attorneys generals and one governor) say the executive order is not a “pretext for religious discrimination” but rather necessary for national security.
The states are Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas and West Virginia.
The request would mean the court, located in Richmond, Virginia, would have to overturn a previous ruling by a judge in Hawaii that issued the ruling which blocked the revised ban.

Four Things You Can Do to Tackle Radical Islam
Tackling Radical Islam is a priority. But what can YOU do?
Home > Human Rights > Human Rights Activists > Human Rights Campaigners
BY ELLIOT FRIEDLAND Wednesday, March 22, 2017
There are many different ways to challenge radical Islam. Here are four of our top suggestions that you can take on in your own life.

Get Educated
The first step to defeating a toxic ideology like that of radical Islam is to understand it. If you understand what it is and what the goals of those who subscribe to it are, you will be much better placed to resist it.
Radical Islam is a totalitarian ideology based on a theological interpretation of Islam that sees the faith as political. It seeks to impose the religion onto others and to establish sharia governance as a system of laws for states. Countries which have implemented this system, such as Iran and Saudi Arabia, have governments that perpetrate widespread human rights abuses in the name of Islam.

Islamist terrorists carry out attacks in order to advance the cause of this ideology by waging what they see as holy war against the West. Understanding this ideology is vital to putting these outrages in context and understanding how to bring about positive change.

Start with Clarion’s introduction: Understanding Radical Islamism.

Support the Work of Muslim Human Rights Activists
There are many Muslim activists around the world who are on the front lines of the struggle against extremism, oftentimes risking their lives to promote change. Unfortunately they don’t get anywhere near the press coverage they deserve, despite the amazing work that they do. Support these brave activists on social media and share their work. This will empower them to have more clout against the radicals who don’t wish to see Muslims and non-Muslims getting along.
We are proud to support: Raheel Raza, Dr. Zudhi Jasser, Dr. Elham Manea, Shireen Qudosi and Maajid Nawaz among others. Share this video of Raheel Raza speaking out.

Stand up Against Anti-Muslim Bigotry
No-one wants to feel victimized for things they didn’t do. Targeting ordinary Muslims for the actions of radicals is unfair and unjust. It also harms the fight against radical Islam. Increased anti-Muslim sentiment creates a sense of fear which makes Muslim activists less inclined to trust non-Muslims to defend their liberties and interests. If Muslims feel threatened in this way, they will be less willing and able to engage in difficult conversations about extremism.
For the radicals, anti-Muslim bigotry make fertile ground for recruitment, since it enables them to stoke a sense of grievance in the vulnerable people they are seeking to radicalize. Anti-Muslim bigotry and radical Islam empower each other. Say no to both and challenge anti-Musim bigotry whenever and wherever you find it.

Read and share our statement on anti-Muslim bigotry.

Speak Out About Radical Islam
Once you have become educated about the danger posed by radical Islam, you can play a role in spreading the word. Movements don’t bring change overnight, and every person is vital in the greater effort to confront this dangerous ideology. Social media is a great place to speak out. With enough exposure, real change can happen and has happened on a number of issues. Individuals, companies and even governments are forced to respond when enough people demand action. Start with our bold informative video By The Numbers.
Sign petitions, share stories and spread the message: Say NO to Radical Islam.

Abdur Rahman Mohammed, a former Brotherhood operative, recorded being present at aBrotherhood meeting where the members decided to use the term “Islamophobia” as a political weapon. “This loathsome term is nothing more than a thought-terminating cliché conceived in the bowels of Muslim think tanks for the purpose of being down critics,” he later remarked.
Two recent events highlight how the term “islamophobia” is used to try and silence critics of radical Islam.
The president of a Minnesota university’s undergrad student government was recently outed for his anti-Semitic posts on social media. His response has been to lash out at his detractors, saying he is the victim of an “Islamophobic smear campaign.

51 Brussels Organizations Linked to Terrorism

At least 51 organizations in the Belgian capital Brussels have links to terrorism, according to a government report.
The Molenbeek district in Brussels. (Photo: Reuters)
In an effort to clamp down on radical Islam, police conducted house-to-house searches of more than 8,600 residences and 22,668 inhabitants in the district of Molenbeek, which The Guardian referred to as “Europe’s Jihad Central.” A number of high-profile terrorists have been linked to Molenbeek, including the perpetrators of the Bataclan attack in Paris in 2015, in which 130 people were killed.

The raids were carried out over the past year under the Channel Program, which saw 100 new officers and €39 million given to the police to tackle terrorism. The raids led to 72 terrorism suspects being identified, 20 of whom are currently incarcerated in Belgium, 26 are “closely monitored” by authorities and 26 who are in Syria or Iraq.

Police reviewed 1,617 organizations in Molenbeek. Of these, 51 were found to have links to terrorism and radical Islam.

Mayor of Molenbeek Françoise Schepmans branded the program to “clean up” the district as “wicked and unjustified,” saying in an open letter to Belgian Interior Minister Jan Jambon, “We thought we had overcome such practices [as inspecting mosques] since the Second World War when people were singled out for their religion — a thing which led to one of the worst ignominies of history.”

Exclusive From the Front: How 10 Villagers Held Off 70 ISIS Jihadis
Home > World > Iraq
BY JENNIFER BREEDON Sunday, March 12, 2017

Kakai Villagers
The following is a first-hand account documented by Clarion Project’s Legal Analyst Jennifer Breedon from her recent trip to Iraq with Clarion Project’s National Security Analyst Ryan Mauro:
Ibrahim was distressed. As a village farmer, father and husband he had continued to hear reports about a new militant group headed right their way. Iraqi Central forces and Kurdish Peshmerga were busy trying to gather forces and learn about what was needed to fight this new extremist militant group. Reports had come in that militants from the Islamic State of Iraq and al Sham (ISIS) were taking over villages one by one.
Ibrahim and his village are Kurdish Kakai people. The Kakai people lived peacefully in the Nineveh Plains Province of Northern Iraq and were now faced with the real possibility that their small village would be taken over next.
The Kakai people are of Kurdish ethnicity but adhere to a different religion that includes elements of monotheism along with regular prayer. It is a peaceful religion. They get along well with Christians, Yazidis and moderate Muslims, as do most of the Kurdish and non-Kurdish people living in the region.

Five New Developments in Iran's Race to Regional Hegemony
Iran's dangerous gamble carries on unabated.
Iran’s dangerous race to regional hegemony marches on unabated. Five recent developments are worth noting:
Iran has built factories in Lebanon to produce weapons for the terror group Hezbollah, according to reports by the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Jarida .
1/ Quoting an assistant commander of the Iranian Revolutionary guards, the paper reported that the plants can produce various types of rockets and missiles, some with a range of more than 500 kilometers, as well as land-based anti-ship missiles, anti-tank missiles, armored vehicles and drones that can carry explosives.
Many of the weapons have reportedly been successfully tested in Syria. The weapons factories are located underground to be safe from Israel aerial bombardment. Each factory only makes a part of the weapons, which are assembled later in a different location.
Israel has, in the past, bombed weapons factories in Sudan as well as convoys of weapons bound for Hezbollah in Lebanon.
2/ Iran announced that it has begun mass production of a domestic battle tank. RT reports that the tank “appears to have a design similar to Russia’s T-90MS.”
Iran was planning to buy tanks from Russia but cut off talks with the superpower after claiming that Russia did not intend to share the latest technology with the Islamic Republic.
In making the announcement about the production of the tank, Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan said, “The defense industry designed and built the battle tank from scratch. If not better, it’s still as deadly as the Russian T-90.”
The tanks are equipped with an electro-optical fire control system, a laser rangefinder and a ballistic computer. They are also capable of firing guided missiles.
3/ Iran announced that it has instituted a new weapon against drones

What’s Going On With Holland and Turkey?
We give you the facts on the escalating crisis between Turkey and the Netherlands as both countries gear up for the polls.
The saga began when the Netherlands refused to allow rallies for Turkey’s upcoming referendum to be held on Dutch soil, citing security concerns. Planned rallies were also cancelled in Germany and Austria.
Dutch police subsequently blocked Turkish Family Minister Beytül Kaya from entering the Turkish consulate in Rotterdam, despite the fact that the rally she was meant to address had been cancelled. Instead they escorted her to the German border.
The Netherlands also revoked the landing permit for Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Cavusoglu, refusing to allow him entry to the country.
The two had been scheduled to address a rally a rally for Turkish citizenswho reside in the Netherlands.

Iraqi Kurds Unite Ahead of March 21 Confrontation with Iran
America and the West should support the Kurds and not repeat the mistakes of the past.
Mark March 21 on your calendar. Six armed Kurdish parties in Iraq have united ahead of expected protests in Iran on that date. Both the Iranian regime’s Revolutionary Guards Corps and an Iranian Kurdish militia have held military exercises in preparation for expected conflict.
The six groups are preparing for protests in the Kurdish areas of Iran to celebrate the Kurdish New Year, Newroz, on March 21. Holiday events become the scene of political protests, Iranian regime repression and even clashes.
But the Kurdish alliance says this time will be different because they are unified, preparing in advance and agreed to jointly collect and share intelligence in January for a common defense against the Iranian regime.

Free Speech 1, Islamophobia 0
A recent court decision in France is a victory for free speech and a setback for the Islamophobia lobbies and their appeasers.
In a victory for free speech and a setback for Islamophobia lobbies and their appeasers, a French court rejected civil and criminal complaints filed against a French historian by an Islamist lobby group.
In 2016, the Committee Against Islamophobia in France (CCIF) filed complaints for incitement to racial hatred against Georges Bensoussan, an expert on 19th and 20th century European cultural history.
The complaint was motivated by a 2015 interview on Radio France, during which Bensoussan referred to a TV documentary by Algerian sociologist Smaïn Laacher whom he paraphrased as saying that “in Arab families in France… anti-Semitism is breast-fed to children.”
Laacher denied having uttered the words “breast-fed,” a term which Bensoussan was using as a metaphor to indicate that anti-Semitism was an attitude transmitted to children by their parents. In that sense, Bensoussan’s summary of Laacher’s viewpoint was true in a figurative, though not in a literal sense.
Here is the exact quotation by Saacher that Bensoussan was referring to:
“This anti-Semitism is already present in the household… and almost naturally deposited on the tongue… one of the insults that parents use against their children when they want to chastise them is to call them Jews… All Arab families know that. It is a monumental hypocrisy not to see that this anti-Semitism is primarily domestic…”
The second statement made by Bensoussan linked anti-Semitism to the growth of Islamic radicalism:

LINDA SARSOUR, PRO-SHARIA ORGANIZER OF WOMEN’S PROTEST, ARRESTED IN NYC
“What I cannot wrap my head around is why so many women would follow the lead of an organizer who is in favor of sharia law. I am sad that so many women seem to be sheep rather than people who think for themselves....”
Linda Sarsour, one of the main organizers of the Women’s March on Washington and a pro-sharia law Palestinian-American activist, was arrested yesterday in New York at a follow-up event on International Women’s Day.
Sarsour, who was blocking traffic along with other protesters outside the Trump International Hotel in New York City, was warned several times by police officers before being removed for disorderly conduct.

Gen. Mattis Withdraws Pro-Brotherhood Pick
But why did he choose her at all?
BY RYAN MAURO Thursday, March 16, 2017
Protest signs in Egypt during the overthrow of Muslim Brotherhood President Morsi who was supported by Obama and Patterson.
Secretary of Defense General Mattis has withdrawn his choice for the top civilian position in the Defense Department, Anne Patterson, after she was criticized from multiple angles, chiefly because of her coziness with the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood.
But the question remains: Why pick her in the first place? In addition, we’re learning of several other questionable holdovers from the Obama Administration remaining in the Trump Administration (so far, it’s still early).
Mattis is an enemy of Islamism, the Muslim Brotherhood and the Iranian regime. That’s what made his choice of Patterson, former President Obama’s ambassador to Egypt — best known for her staunch support of the Muslim Brotherhood — so surprising and disappointing. Those who saw President Trump’s staff choices as signaling a tough stance on the Brotherhood and Islamism felt as if they were suddenly smacked across the face.

A teen singing star in India is the target of a fatwa campaign being waged by 46 imams trying to shut her down.
Nahid Afrin, 16, who was the Indian Idol Junior first runner-up in 2015, has been singing against ISIS, terrorism and sharia laws. The imams, who represent a variety of Muslim organizations, want her to stop performing on stage.
“I was broken completely after hearing about the ‘fatwa’. But I am not going to stop singing. I have received hundreds of calls and messages from the people of Assam and different organizations supporting me,” Afrin was quoted as saying.
“I am a singer and music is my life. I don’t think I can survive without music. Allah has blessed me with this voice for singing, and I’ll die if I am not allowed to sing,” she added.

U.S. Charges Hamas Female Terrorist 16 Years Later
Ahlan Tamimi took part in a horrific bombing of a downtown pizzeria in Jerusalem that killed 15, including two Americans.
BY MEIRA SVIRSKY Thursday, March 16, 2017
The U.S. Department of Justice has decided to charge Hamas terrorist Ahlam Aref Ahmad Al-Tamimi for her part in the bombing of the Sbarro pizza restaurant in the heart of downtown Jerusalem, close to 16 years after the event.
Tamimi has also been placed on the FBI’s Most Wanted Terrorists list.
The bombing killed 15 people, including two U.S. citizens (one of whom was pregnant) and wounded 130. Tamimi, a Jordanian citizen, was captured and sentenced to 16 life terms in prison in 2003 but released in a prisoner exchange in 2011. She now lives in Jordan, whose constitution prohibits extradition of its citizens.
In a video made after her release (see below), Tamimi expressed happiness about the bombing and declares she would “do it again today.”

Dutch anti-Islam politician Geert Wilders fell short of expected gains in yesterday’s Dutch general election. Wilders, the leader of the Freedom Party (PVV), gained 5 seats, but still finished second.
Prime Minister Mark Rutte, who will now have a chance to form a coalition and govern for a third term, hailed the election as “an evening in which the Netherlands after Brexit, after the American elections said ‘Stop’ to the wrong kind of populism.”
With 95% of the votes counted the results were as follows (out of 150 seats):
VVD (Mark Rutte, centre-right) 33 seats
PVV (Wilders, right) 20 seats
CDA ( 19 seats
D66 19 seats
The election results showed two things about the issue of tackling radical Islam in Europe.

Linda Sarsour, Pro-Sharia Organizer of Women’s Protest, Arrested in NYC
Linda Sarsour, one of the main organizers of the Women’s March on Washington and a pro-sharia law Palestinian-American activist, was arrested yesterday in New York at a follow-up event on International Women’s Day.

Sarsour, who was blocking traffic along with other protesters outside the Trump International Hotel in New York City, was warned several times by police officers before being removed for disorderly conduct.

Pictures show Sarsour, executive director of the Arab American Association of New York, being led away in handcuffs.

Sarsour became the face of the women’s protests against Donald Trump beginning the day after the current U.S. president’s inauguration. Another prominent activist calling for a strike by women yesterday was Rasmea Yousef Odeh, a Palestinian terrorist involved in fatal bombings in Israel. Analysis
Iran's Nuclear Deceit
The Islamic Republic insists they want nuclear fission reactors only to generate electricity. But they have plenty of byproduct natural gas from their oil-fields, which could be used to generate electricity in power stations far more cheaply.
By L. R. B. Mann, M.Sc Ph.D
There is little if any doubt that Iran is developing nuclear weapons. The two main categories of nuclear bombs they are working towards are exemplified by the first atomic bombs ever exploded:
1) High-enriched uranium (<25 kg), suddenly assembled to form a critical mass (as used on Hiroshima in 1945), and
2 Plutonium-239 (<10 kg) suddenly compressed several-fold to render it critical at its new higher density, as tested at Truth Or Consequences, New Mexico and then used on Nagasaki in 1945.
The Encyclopedia Americana article on the subject of atomic bomb design, composed by eminent experts who had served at the heart of the USA nuclear weapons program, is surprisingly informative in regards to Iran’s aspirations.
Natural uranium contains only 0.7% of the fissile isotope U-235 (the rest if made up of U-238, which is not fissile in ordinary reactors or atomic bombs). To make an atomic bomb, the uranium U-235 must be enriched, if possible, to around 90%, though far less can work to some extent.

Muslim Girl in UK Gets Death Threats, Forced to Apologize for Dancing in the Street
A hijab-wearing girl was forced to apologize by conservative YouTube host Ali Dawah, after a video of her dancing in the street went viral.
A video of a 17 year-old hijab-wearing girl performing the popular dance the “twerk” in a UK city street went viral, garnering over one million hits.
The girl received death threats and abuse as a result of the video. Many men took it upon themselves to accuse her of bringing shame on the Muslim community with her actions. “F*****g s**t someone give me her address I will kill her” one person commented, according to Heat Street. Another wrote “Stupid b****h needs to be killed.”
Conservative British Muslim YouTube star Ali Dawah did a segment about it and had the girl on his show. He opened by saying:
“We was really upset to be honest and I’m sure a lot of you guys were upset as well because… it’s just that we have that thing for our religion and we understand that a lot of us hate seeing certain things done by practicing looking individuals.”
Ali Dawah did say that people who sent death threats and abuse went too far saying “we should hate the sin rather than the sinner.”
He had the girl explain her actions to him. She told him:
“I was out with my friends, we were going shopping and there were these people playing music, there was one song that a girl wanted to dance with me.”

10 Points You Won’t Hear About Trump’s Revised Travel Restrictions
Home > World > Iraq
BY RYAN MAURO Tuesday, March 7, 2017
Syrian refugees arrive in the U.S. after spending five years in a refugee camp in Turkey (Illustrative Photo: Scott Olson/Getty Images)
President Trump has issued an executive order modifying his controversial travel restrictions which have been incorrectly derided as a “Muslim ban.”
Of course, despite major changes, groups like the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) are still calling it a “Muslim ban” and are committed to retaining the issue’s divisiveness so they can endlessly bash Trump as a bigot and raise their own profile in the process.
“This executive order, like the last order, is at its core a Muslim ban, which is discriminatory and unconstitutional,” said the executive-director of CAIR, Nihad Awad, who nonetheless touted the revisions as a “partial victory.”
Below are 10 points about the revised executive order that you’re unlikely to hear from media outlets and politically-driven organizations who have are dependent upon continued controversy:
1) As previously, it is not a “Muslim ban.”
As explained by Clarion Project advisory board member and leader of the Council for Muslims Facing Tomorrow in this video (see below), the restrictions are based on an intersection of geography and security risks. They are limited to 6 of 50 Muslim-majority countries and impact non-Muslims as well. And, just as before, the restrictions are a pause rather than a ban.The order is for between 90 to 120 days, depending on whether the person is a visitor or a refugee. As we’ll discuss, the exceptions are so wide that even describing this order as a “pause” is a bit of an overstatemen

Woman Brutally Beaten for the 'Sin' of Walking Her Dog
Will human rights or animal rights activists speak out against this horrific assault?
BY UZAY BULUT Wednesday, March 8, 2017
(Illustrative photo: Chris Jackson/Getty Images)
A woman who went to a public park to walk her dog in the city of Canakkale, Turkey was attacked by three women with Islamic headscarves.
According to an article in the local newspaper, Canakkale Olay, the woman, identified as A.K., was walking her dog in a municipal park in the Barbaros neighborhood when she was approached by a woman with a hijab in her late 30s who said to her, “This building complex and the park is ours. You cannot walk your dog here, it is a sin.”
The woman allegedly also said to the dog keeper, “Are you a kafir [infidel]? You are playing with a dog. Isn’t that a sin?”
Two other women with headscarves joined in and it quickly turned into a physical attack. The attackers allegedly smashed A.K.’s head on the stones in the park and hit her in the head with a marble block. Luckily, some passersby were able to restrain the attackers and save A.K.
Later, when A.K. said she would call the police, one of the attackers countered by saying that her husband is a prosecutor and the police would do nothing.
A.K. managed to make it to a local hospital for treatment and received a medical report proving the battering. A number of relatives of the attackers followed A.K. to the hospital and threatened her saying, “Only your dead body will be able to leave this hospital.”
A.K. then went to a police station and filed a complaint against the attackers.
This is not the first incidence in Canakkale against “man’s best friend.” On February 3, the Turkish newspaper Sabah reported that “an animal massacre” took place in the city. “Many cats and dogs in several neighborhoods across Canakkale were poisoned to death after eating pieces of meat that had been injected with high doses of pesticides and scattered throughout the streets in the city,” the newspaper stated.

Four Lessons That the Arab Spring Could Have Learned From the Russian Revolution
Home > World > Egypt
BY ELLIOT FRIEDLAND Wednesday, March 8, 2017
Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov , better known as Lenin, delivers a speech in Moscow in 1919. (Photo: Keystone/Getty Images)
The Russian Revolution started 100 years ago today and its impact is still being felt around the world. Here are four things about the 2011 uprisings we could have learned from the Russian Revolution.
1)
Getting Rid of the Old Regime Is Only Stage OneCompletely replacing an autocratic infrastructure with a new and free society is extremely difficult. The early stages of a revolution are always tumultuous and emotional. But ousting the old dictator is only a small part of the battle. After the initial revolution began on March 8, disruption, maneuvering, strikes and riots continued. The provisional government was overthrown by Bolsheviks in November, kicking off the Russian Civil War which lasted until 1923. A plethora of factions, different shades of communists, anarchists, army officers and old-regime militias fought a savage and brutal war against each other. Many of those involved in the early Arab Spring protests were focused on getting rid of the old regime, but became unstuck beyond that point.
2) The Most Extreme Factions Are Often the Best Organized

DESIGNATE MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD AS FOREIGN TERRORIST ORGANIZATION
“The MB has visited the White House so many times during the Obummer Administration. Why we ask? It's for them to know and us to find out, as the kids say! That time is now.”
BY CLARION PROJECT Tuesday, February 21, 2017
The Muslim Brotherhood is an Islamist political and terror organization.
The Muslim Brotherhood works towards the undermining of Western governments through ‘stealth Jihad’ using affiliates such as CAIR and ISNA in America.
We prepared you an e-mail and will send it to your elected officials. Make your voice count! It takes less than a minute. Click here to preview the email we prepared for you, our system will always allow you to preview the e-mail before it sends it. Share with everyone you know.

The Muslim Brotherhood states in a secret document that its “work in America is a kind of grand jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within.”
The Muslim Brotherhood gave birth to almost every Islamist terror group of note, including Al-Qaeda and Hamas.
We will send an eReport on the Muslim Brotherhood to anyone who takes action and sends this letter to their elected officials.

STAFF THREATENED WITH BEHEADINGS AT PUBLIC SCHOOL
The principal and his deputy at a public high school in Sydney were removed after officials feared they were radicalizing their students
Mon, March 6, 2017
The principal and deputy principal at a public boys’ high school in Sydney, Australia were removed from their positions after Education Department officials feared the administrators were breeding radicalization in their students, reported The Daily Mail.
Non-Muslim staff at the Punchbowl Boys High School reported being threatened with beheading by Muslim students who declared they supported Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL), among other verbal attacks. The majority of the student body is Muslim at the school.
None of the threats were reported to the police by the principal or his deputy.
Former Principal Chris Williams converted to Islam in 2014 and ran the school for the past two and a half years. He was described as having “actively hostile” relations with the police department and refused to allow police liaison officers access to the school during his tenure. Williams also refused to cooperate with a de-radicalization program.
“Students were being told that if ‘the pigs’ stop you, to film them and refuse their directions,” said a senior police officer speaking to the Daily Telegraph.
Police also said, “The students were being led down a dangerous path by the principal. We had concerns about radicalization.”
An investigation found an “increased disengagement” of the school from the community. Specifically mentioned as a reason for the firing was the fact that the principal and his deputy, a woman named Joumana Dennaoiu, prevented women teachers from participating in school events including 12-grade graduation ceremonies.
The Daily Mail reports the school was previously known to be controlled by Middle-Eastern gangs “where violence and drug dealing were rife.” Later, the school was under the auspices of Griffith’s predecessor, Jihad Dib, when it was transformed “to a high performer with much better literacy and numeracy rates.”

CANADA: SCHOOL BOARD SHUTS DOWN QUESTION ON ARABIC HATE SPEECH
Journalist Kevin Johnston was not allowed to ask if Arabic sermons in Canadian schools would be monitored for hate speech.
Sun, March 5, 2017
A school board in Canada shut down a public question and answer session, rather than give an answer about hate speech in schools during Islamic prayers in Arabic.
Journalist Kevin Johnston attempted to ask the following question to Peel District School Board Chair Janet McDougald:
“When you vote to allow Islamic Prayer in public schools, will you record all sermons that are offered in Arabic so we can analyze them later to ensure there is no hate speech being offered?”
Rather than answer the question she elected to call Mr. Johnston a racist and end the session early. The audience at the event took the side of Mr Johnston and the situation became heated.
Johnston delivered a lengthy speech denouncing, in colorful language, the school board for perceived betrayal of Canada. The sound technician at the meeting began blasting classical music in an effort to drown him out.
Controversy over Muslim prayer has dogged the Peel District School Board for some time. In January, a meeting saw hecklers denouncing Islam, with one forced to leave by security. At a previous meeting in February, Johnston handed out flyers in which he called for the Quran to be banned as hate literature and for the removal of all religion from public schools.
Clarion Project works with Muslim human rights activists and condemns anti-Muslim bigotry as distinct from criticism of extremism.

WHAT HAPPENED WHEN I WATCHED TOO MANY ISIS VIDEOS
Clarion received this submission from a researcher in this field, describing the impact watching of watching ISIS clips on his mind
I am a researcher in this field. In this capacity I have watched many ISIS videos, dozens at least but to be honest I have lost count. I am also ISIS’ target recruitment demographic, a young male who grew up in the West, with a keen sense of injustice and an awareness of the flaws of the current stage of western civilization.
As I watched increasing numbers of ISIS videos for work, I noticed they were starting to have an effect on my mind. Because of this I stopped watching them.
There is plenty of information available online about the psychological impact of violent imagery on those who view it. This is my own personal account of the changes I noticed and I am sharing them to warn readers of the powerful effect these videos had on me, despite the fact that I am totally opposed to the ideology espoused by these videos.
I was personally shocked by the intensity of the impact. Here’s what happened to me.
I Became Rapidly Desensitized
The first time a watched a beheading video it was horrible, sickening and awful. Every part of the image is designed to shock and horrify. My heart rate would quicken, I would wince and look away. But after I while, I noticed I was less and less shocked and was able to watch them more and more easily.

IS THE MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD A FIREWALL AGAINST EXTREMISM?
The British Government has seemingly softened its stance on the Muslim Brotherhood in response to a parliamentary inquiry.
The British Government appeared to soften its line against the Muslim Brotherhood in response to a parliamentary inquiry into how the Foreign and Commonwealth Office relates to political Islam.
Originally the government’s report, conducted by British Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Sir John Jenkins, was critical of the Muslim Brotherhood. Although the whole report was not released to the public, sources close to the report told The Middle East Eye the Muslim Brotherhood served as a “rite of passage” for jihadis.
The House of Commons Foreign Affairs Committee argued the Muslim Brotherhood and other non-violent Islamist groups are a ‘firewall’ against extremism.
In point 57 they wrote:
“Based on the experience of Tunisia, political Islam could in some countries be a way of providing a democratic alternative for political, social, and economic development and a counter-narrative against more extremist ideologies. However, there are cases where political Islamist groups have inspired individuals to commit violent acts; the fact that such individuals left the groups to do so does not excuse the groups from some responsibility for inspiring the individual in the first place. Nonetheless, the vast majority of political Islamists are involved in no violence whatsoever. Because of this, and because of their broader status as a ‘firewall’ against extremism, political Islamists have suffered criticism and attack from ISIL and other extremist organisations. No political movement can entirely control its individual members or supporters, particularly under extreme provocation. Incarceration of political activists without fair trial and the shutting down of political avenues to address grievances is likely to lead some to extremism

VIDEO: IRAQI CHRISTIAN FORCE ASKS US, EU FOR SAFE HAVEN
So far requests for support of the safe haven have been rejected but the Nineveh Plain Protection Units hopes to keep up the pressure
The Nineveh Plain Protection Units (NPU), an Iraqi Christian militia, has published a video calling on the international community to implement a “safe zone” for Iraq’s persecuted minorities.
The political chair of NPU, Yacoob Yaco, is shown with NPU fighters and emphasized that “it has to be clear to all…we are not asking for soldiers from America or Europe to come in and protect us.” Rather, NPU is asking for international support for its forces, a political recognition of a safe zone for minorities in the Nineveh Plain and the placement of international observers.
Yaco said the group had recently met with the U.S. ambassador to Iraq to discuss this and got a disappointing response.

The ISIS Stronghold You Don’t Hear About
International attention is focused on ISIS in Iraq and Syria but ISIS is also waging an insurgency against the Egyptian government in Sinai.
Thu, March 2, 2017
ISIS carry out an attack in the Sinai. (Photo: Screenshot from video)
Islamic State terrorists are most notorious for their brutal conquest of a third of Iraq in 2014 and for their slick and savage propaganda videos which feature masked jihadis beheading captives.
ISIS is not only confined to Iraq and Syria however.
They have an active province in the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt.
Here’s what’s been going on:
Timeline
June 25 2012: Ansar Bayt Al-Maqdis (Supporters of the Holy House, ie the Temple of Solomon/Al-Aqsa Mosque), the terrorist group which would later become ISIS in Sinai, announces its formation with a propaganda video claiming responsibility for an attack against a gas pipeline in Egypt.
October 2014: President Sisi declares a state of emergency in Sinai after 33 military personnel are killed by Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis.
November 2014: Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis pledges allegiance to the Islamic State and becomes Wilayat Sinai (Sinai Province).
January 2015: ISIS kills 24 soldiers, six policemen and 14 soldiers (44 people total) in coordinated strikes in the capital of Northern Sinai Governate, El-Arish.
September 2015: The Egyptian army launches a full scale invasion of Sinai aimed at destroying militant groups and restoring order.
August 2016: Egyptian airstrikes kill the commander of Wilayat Sinai, Abu Duaa al-Ansari, along with 45 jihadis.
November 2016: Egyptian parliament extends the state of emergency in Sinai for another three months, the ninth time it has done so.
February 2017: Following a barrage of rockets fired at the southern Israeli city Eilat by ISIS terrorists, Israel kills four jihadis in a drone strike.
March 2017: an estimated 80 Coptic families are now sheltering in Ismailia, having fled El-Arish. ISIS forced them to flee by threatening to kill them. Analysts surmise ISIS has switched its attention to targeting Christians as it is losing the military campaign against the army.

Muslims in Australia Becoming Radicalized at Much Younger Ages
The alarming trend shows that the age of radicalization of young Sunni Muslims has dropped a decade in only two years.
Muslims in Australia are becoming radicalized at an alarmingly younger age, according to new data presented by the head of the country’s intelligence organization, as reported by International Business Times.
Statistics culled from 2013 indicated that 45 percent of Sunni extremist investigated by the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) were between the ages of 25 and 34. Just two years later, in 2015, 40 percent of those under investigation were between 15 and 24.
Thus the age-group of youth investigated for radicalization has "dropped by a decade in the space of a couple of years," said Duncan Lewis, ASIO’s director-general.

Iran: Woman Commits Suicide After Sexual Abuse in Prison
A young Kurdish woman was imprisoned for two days and reportedly sexually abused while in custody. She killed herself on her release.
Mahdis Mir Ghavami, a Kurdish engineer from Khermanshah in Western Iran, was taken into custody on January 24. She killed herself on her release two days later.
According to the National Council for Resistance in Iran (NCRI), an opposition group which reported the news, she killed herself because she was sexually abused during her detention.
Ghavami’s death follows that of another Kurdish woman, Hananeh Shalir Farhadi, who reportedly killed herself after four months of imprisonment.

DEATH THREATS FOLLOW ANTI-ISLAMIST TAREK FATAH TO INDIA
Fatah, now a Canadian citizen, can expect no help from his country's government who most likely also consider Fatah and 'Islamophobe.
Hundreds of burka-clad women marched through the streets of Deoband, India, this week calling for the hanging of Tarek Fatah, Canada’s most caustic critic of political Islam.
A few days earlier in Bareilly, also in northern India, a Muslim organization called the All-India Faisan-e-Madina Council said they would pay one million rupees, or $15,000, to anybody who would behead Fatah while he is in India.
A few days before that in New Delhi, hostile young men infiltrated a crowd of fans looking for autographs and selfies, and roughed up Fatah slightly as they attempted to kick and punch him before police intervened.
“Your throat will… be slit,” Kolkata imam Syed Mohammad Nurur Rahman Barkati also told Fatah on television last month.

NEW DNC CHAIR PEREZ ENGAGED ISLAMISTS, IGNORED REFORMERS
By ignoring Muslim reformers, Perez's actions serve to make Islamist groups into the sole representatives of Muslims in the United States.
Tom Perez has defeated Rep. Keith Ellison in the race to become chairman of the Democratic National Committee, but don’t rest easy: Perez also has a concerning record and chose Ellison as his deputy chairman.
When he was the assistant attorney general of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division, he included Muslim Brotherhood-linked groups and their allies in discussions about counter-terrorism training and investigations and laws punishing alleged “hate speech” against the religion of Islam. Muslim and non-Muslim critics of such Islamist groups were not a part of Perez’ outreach on these issues.

FEMINISM, HIJABS AND HYPOCRISY
Defending the rights of women to wear the hijab while failing to support women who do not wish to wear it is patently hypocritical.
Earlier this week, Dorsa Derakhshani, an 18-year-old female chess master, was banned from Iran’s national team for appearing without the Islamic headscarf (hijab) in a tournament in Gibraltar she competed in independently.
Considering it’s illegal for women in Iran to appear in public without properly covering their hair or bodies, I hardly found this story shocking.
What did surprise me was the deafening silence from all the “feminists” who took to the streets last month to participate in an unprecedented display of virtue signaling and hypocrisy better known as the “Women’s March.”
Then there was Sweden’s “first feminist government

Why are more and more Iranian athletes fleeing the country, or refusing to return after competitions abroad? We have known about Iran’s brain drain and artists leaving the country. Yet now we are faced with this new phenomenon. NORTH CAROLINA ANTI-MUSLIM BIGOT: "CAN WE NOT KILL THEM ALL?"
A meeting of anti-Islamists turned ugly when one attendee began to make comments about killing all Muslims. Anti-Muslim bigotry is always wrong
A meeting of an estimated 20 conservative activists to discuss the Muslim Brotherhood in North Carolina went much too far when one of those in attendance suggested killing all the Muslims.
The meeting took place in a room at a seafood restaurant in Kernersville. The meeting featured reading extracts from a popular book the Muslim Brotherhood and discussion of the Islamist group’s presence in North America. Clarion Project was not at the meeting and we do not know what was said and what ideas were discussed.
However, according to The Guardian, one attendee wanted to take more direct action.
A man by the name of Frank Del Valle reportedly asked, “Can we not kill them all?” about 15 minutes into the talk.
He asked again towards the end, “Do you have any recommendations as to how we could stop this? Because my only recommendation is to start killing the hell out of them.”

General McMaster is known for winning the most difficult of battles. His warrior side will come in handy in dealing with Afghanistan and Iraq
President Trump has chosen General H.R. McMaster as the national security adviser and there’s plenty to be happy about. Below are five points to consider with his choice
General McMaster is known for winning the most difficult of battles. As explained in this lengthy New Yorker article from 2006, he performed an amazing turnaround in the city of Tal Afar in Iraq. I remember when he arrived in 2005 and shocked observers by needing only about six months to change the situation by building strong relationships with Iraqis on the ground to kick the jihadists out and to quickly build up the local police force.
His warrior side will come in handy as the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan bluntly refers to the situation as a "stalemate" requiring several thousand more troops for progress to happen.

VATICAN, TOP SUNNI BODY TO JOINTLY COUNTER EXTREMIS
Pope Francis has commissioned a delegation of high-ranking clerics to strategize the roles of the Vatican and Al-Azhar in combating extremism
A delegation of high-ranking Catholic priests is travelling to Egypt to discuss how the Vatican and the world’s top Sunni institution Al-Azhar best partner to combat religious extremism.
The seminar is entitled “The role of al-Azhar al-Sharif and of the Vatican in countering the phenomena of fanaticism, extremism and violence in the name of religion.”
The president of the Pontifical Council For Interreligious Dialogue, Cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran, leads the papal delegation. He is accompanied by Bishop Miguel Ángel Ayuso Guixot, Secretary, Msgr. Khaled Akasheh, Head of the Office for Islam and Archbishop Bruno Musarò, Apostolic Nuncio to Egypt.
The seminar follows a year of high-level preparatory talks between the Vatican and Al-Azhar following last year’s visit to Cairo by Pope Francis to meet Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Professor Ahmad Al-Tayyib.
On February 17, Pope Francis gave an address in which he denied the religious roots of violent extremism.

MIDDLE EAST FORUM'S PLAN FOR TRUMP RADICAL ISLAM COMMISSION
Trump’s administration pledged to establish a commission on radical Islam. The Middle East Forum has a proposal ready.
U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the struggle against wiping out radical Islam is a priority for his administration. In August 2016, Trump announced “one of my first acts as president will be to establish a commission on radical Islam.”
The Middle East Forum (MEF), headed by Dr. Daniel Pipes, commissioned former congressional staffer Dr. Christopher C. Hull to put together a “comprehensive plan” for what that commission should look like, based on the MEF’s extensive experience in challenging radical Islam.
The MEF sets out the parameters of the commission as follows:

IRAN’S REGIME OF TERROR BY THE NUMBERS
In 38 years, the country's Islamist regime has taken the people into poverty and illiteracy while the leadership has gotten richer and richer.
The mullahs now ruling Iran were able to hijack the revolution that sacked the U.S.-backed Shah regime back in February 1979. However, the 38-year report card left by the mullahs has only raised extreme anger throughout the Iranian society.
Numbers are very vivid in revealing the undeniable atrocities caused by the mullahs’ disastrous policies.
The daily trend of continuous executions in Iran has raised anger amongst the international community for years. Iran is considered the number one executioner per capita.
The number of executions in Iran “paints a sinister picture of the machinery of the state carrying out premeditated, judicially-sanctioned killings on a mass scale,” according to Amnesty International.
Suicides are also on the rise, especially amongst women, ranking Iran first in the Middle East and third in the world. There are also reports of a growing number of teenagers committing suicide.
Drug addiction is yet another disastrous result of the mullahs’ rule in Iran. The amount of drugs spreading amongst women and teenagers is skyrocketing and state-run media are citing experts estimating at least 8 million Iranians are suffering from this dreadful phenomenon.

YAZIDIS AND CHRISTIANS: SCAPEGOATS OF REGIONAL POLITICS IN IRAQ
Get up close with those who face the brunt of attacks in this war-torn country and get the real facts from Clarion's team on the ground
“They hurt Yazidis.” “They hurt Christians.” Both comments were made to me about the Kurds during my time in Iraq by differing political and interest parties.
Yet, it wasn’t from any Christian or Yazidi in the region that I heard such comments. A recent article titled “Kurds’ move to keep Yazidi, Christian refugees from their homes is hurting anti-ISIS alliance,” reported this to an American public that is hungry to know what’s going on in Iraq with the persecuted minorities.
So I decided to go there and visit them for myself. What I found was a stark contrast to the politically-tied voices that shout otherwise. And like most situations, the truth was found somewhere in the middle.
Historically, Yazidis have been a rural group – not well educated or organized in any capable capacity. They peacefully practiced their religion in their villages and raised families as most rural minority groups do. Then came the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL). They were killed, kidnapped as sex slaves and scattered.
The world suddenly realized that the Yazidis existed and strove to help them. Germany offered millions of dollars to any organization that could rescue and bring Yazidis to Germany for restoration. Since Yazidis don’t know how to read German or any other languages (as most of us only speak the language of our heritage), they were forced to accept as interpreters help from whichever group reached them quickest.

GITMO RADICALIZED OUR BOY, SAYS UK FAMILY
The family of an ISIS suicide bomber blamed American prison facility Guantanamo Bay for radicalizing him during his two years there.
Jamal al Harith is a British citizen who was interned in the Guantanamo Bay prison facility (Gitmo) for two years and recently killed himself in a suicide bombing for the Islamic State.
His family argues that if it were not for his treatment while in Guantanamo Bay, he “would not have become involved with a despicable organization such as so-called Islamic State.”
Born Ronald Fiddler, Jamal al Harith changed his name after converting to Islam. He went backpacking in Pakistan a few weeks after 9/11 but was captured by the Taliban who accused him of being a British spy. Later he was captured by the Americans, who took him to Guantanamo Bay.
They interrogated him for two years about the Taliban. Eventually he was repatriated to the UK following intervention by the British government and released in 2004. The Daily Mail claims he was awarded a one-million-pound settlement in 2010 by the British government in compensation. However the family denies this and says the payout was split between four people.

NIGERIAN MUSLIM LEADER MOVES TO RESTRICT POLYGAMY
The Emir of Kano says polygamy leads to children who aren’t properly cared for and thus are more likely to become terrorists later.
Muhammad Sanusi, the emir of Kano, blames polygamy in part for the rise of the terrorist organization Boko Haram. He argues that men who cannot afford to adequately provide for even one wife are marrying numerous women and producing too many children, who then grow up neglected and in poverty.
“Those of us in the north have all seen the economic consequences of men who are not capable of maintaining one wife, marrying four," the emir said.
"They end up producing 20 children, not educating them, leaving them on the streets, and they end up as thugs and terrorists."
The Emir has introduced a law to the Kano state legislature to codify restrictions on polygamy and put in place other regulations concerning marriage. Currently the law is under review by a council of Islamic scholars.
“The law will address what Islam says on marriage, it will outlaw forced marriages, it will make domestic violence illegal, it will put in conditions that you need to fulfill before you can marry a second wife, it will spell out the responsibilities of a father beyond producing a child,” the emir continued, according to Nigerian media outlet Vanguard.

REFUSING TO DON HIJAB, MARINE LE PEN WALKS OUT ON GRAND MUFT
The National Front candidate for the French presidency refused to wear a required headscarf to meet the grand mufti during a tour of Lebanon
BY MEIRA SVIRSKY Wed, February 22, 2017
National Front candidate for the French presidency Marine Le Pen refused to wear a required headscarf to meet the grand mufti of Lebanon during a tour of the country. In an exchange caught on video in front of the mufti’s office, Le Pen can be seen talking to reporters, telling them she will forgo the meeting instead.
“You can pass on my respects to the grand mufti, but I will not cover myself up,” she can be heard saying.
Noting that in her meeting in Egypt with the grand imam of Al-Azhar, considered the highest Sunni Muslim authority in the world, she had not been required to veil herself, Le Pen explains, “He did not have this demand.”
“But it’s not a problem,” she adds. “You can pass on to the grand mufti my considerations, but I am not putting the veil on.”
After being informed that the requirements are different in Lebanon than Egypt, Le Pen says to her entourage, “Allez! (Let’s go!),” and gets into her waiting car (see video below).

Christians in Egypt: Mysterious Deaths, Soldier 'Suicides'
Christians make up 10% Egypt’s population and suffer grave persecution: denial of jobs, burning of churches and targets for assassination.
BY JENNIFER BREEDON AND SHELBY KAUS Tue, February 21, 2017

Christians have lost another fellow believer in Egypt. Ishak Ibrahim Fayez Younan, 37, had his throat slit in his Cairo home and was discovered by his brother, marking the fifth murder in only two weeks.. Younan is one of many Christians who have had throats slit and been murdered for their faith.
Despite being in his home, nothing was taken indicating there was no motivation to rob Younan. We can assume his death, which follows a similar pattern of other recent murders in Egypt, was the result of his identification as a Christian in Egypt.
Younan had been working at a local factory that distributes soft drinks to grocery stores to support his wife and two children, ages 10 and 12, who now have no father.
Many citizens of Egypt are calling on President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to do more for Christians in Egypt, but the underlying and deep-seated Islamist ideology and resentment against Christians seems to go beyond his capabilities as head of state.
Coptic Christians make up 10% Egypt’s population and suffer grave persecution, ranging from denial of jobs, burning of their churches and targets for assassination as in the case of Younan. In December 2016, a large number of churches were bombed and, according to CNN, more than two dozen people were killed with several more injured.
Likewise, many Christian soldiers in the Egyptian Army are facing the same fate because of their faith. Several Coptic soldiers have been the victims of mysterious deaths. In June of 2015, Bahaa Gamal Mikhail Silvanus, 23, was found dead in his office at the post where he was stationed. Silvanus suffered two gunshot wounds and critical blunt force trauma to his head.

IRAN BANS TEEN CHESS CHAMPS OVER HIJAB, ISRAELI PARTNER
The siblings were banned from all future tournaments, one for playing without a hijab, one for playing against an Israeli.
An Iranian brother and sister who are both chess champions were banned from playing for their country.
Dorsa Derakhshani is ranked sixth in the world in under-18 games and, at 18, was a member of the Iranian Women's National Chess Team. She is ranked as a Grand Master.
She was removed from the team after she competed independently in the Tradewise Gibraltar Chess Festival without wearing a hijab.
The festival was held in late January, early February 2017.
Her brother, Borna, 15, was expelled from the team for playing against an Israeli.
“The first step in dealing with them would be to deprive them from playing in Iran, and they won't have a chance to be in the national team,” Trend Media Agency quoted Mehrdad Pahlevanzadeh, head of Iran's Chess Federation as saying.
He said Iran will deal with the siblings in the “severest way possible” because it is a matter or “national interest.”
Dorsa is currently studying in Spain and participated in the Gibraltar games on her own. Her brother had also registered for the games on his own.

LOUIS FARRAKHAN DENOUNCES JEWS AT NATION OF ISLAM EVENT
Farrakhan’s speech at the annual Nation of Islam Conference included a denunciation of Jews & white people
The Nation of Islam held its national conference in Detroit this weekend and leader Louis Farrakhan used his three-hour keynote address to claim Jews are trying to frighten and dominate the peoples of the world.
Thousands attended the conference.
“I want to disabuse the Jews today of the false claim that you are the chosen of God — that Israel or Palestine belongs to you,” Farrakhan said, to loud cheers.
“I want to disabuse you of that. I want to make it so clear and I’m going to tell you about your future. You that think you have power to frighten and dominate the peoples of the world. I’m here to announce the end of your time.”
Watch the speech. Comments on Jews begin at 01:12.00
Farrakhan has made many other anti-Semitic statements in the past. These include denouncing Jews as “bloodsuckers” and making claims such as “Zionists dominate the government of the United States of America and her banking system.”
Antisemitism is a feature of Islamist groups worldwide.

BLIND SHEIKH DEAD BUT HIS NETWORK LIVES ON IN AMERICA
The Blind Sheikh’s jihadist collaborators continue to be active enough for the NYPD to gather intelligence on some of them.
BY RYAN MAURO Mon, February 20, 2017
The “Blind Sheikh” Omar Abdel-Rahman, best known for his role in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, has just died in prison, but his “work” lives on. He was not only a U.S.-based leader of the Gamaa Islamiyya terrorist group, but part of the connective tissue of an interconnected jihadist network that still operates today.
The “Blind Sheikh” and his U.S.-based network were like a cornucopia of jihadist offerings. His Gamaa Islamiyya, Al-Qaeda, the Muslim Brotherhood/Hamas, Jamaat ul-Fuqra (now known as Muslims of America) and other jihadist entities all overlapped “in a sort of terrorist ‘Internet,’” as one congressional testimony explained. It is through this “Internet” that the Blind Sheikh’s work lives on.
The best example is Jamaat ul-Fuqra, now known as Muslims of America, which is best known for its “Islamberg” headquarters in New York and its claim to having 22 such “Islamic villages” across the country. The Clarion Project has launched a comprehensive website about the organization at FuqraFiles.com.

READERS RESPOND: SHOULD US PUT BOOTS ON GROUND IN SYRIA?
BY CLARION PROJECT STAFF Sun, February 19, 2017
Clarion website readers and across our social-media platforms overwhelmingly oppose a U.S. ground invasion of Syria. For every person who thinks American soliders should enter the mêlée, four oppose
Just shy of 79 percent of respondents said the U.S. should stay away.
While the Pentagon's obvious first target is Islamic State (ISIS / ISIL), any sojourn in Syria would likely put soldiers into conflict with the myriad other fighting forces in the wartorn country.
Here are just a few of the comments from readers on this issue:
“Not without a very clear strategy and the political willingness to follow through. History is not very encouraging on this scale.”
“No. Use drones to put bombs on the ground.”
“Other Middle Eastern countries need to step up with U.S. support!”
“No. Who they going to support? The Islamic groups against Assad and Russia as the U.S. has already been doing to create another Iraq, Afghanistan, Egypt etc. Well it will achieve what the Progressive Left seem to be dying to get, a war with Russia.”

INTERVIEW WITH PRIEST'S KILLER: MISSIONARY ACTIVITIES A 'THREAT'
A human rights lawyer accuses the police and intel units of having a hand in the murders of Christian clergymen in Turkey by turning a blind eye
BY UZAY BULUT Mon, February 20, 2017
Father Andrea Santoro, an Italian Catholic priest, was murdered on February 5, 2006 in the Santa Maria Catholic Church in the northern Turkish city of Trabzon, where he served.
Oguzhan Akdin, the killer of the 61-year-old priest, was 16 at the time. He was released on probation in August of last year.
The Turkish newspaper Karadeniz recently conducted an interview with Akdin, asking him about his motives for killing of the priest and whether he regrets it today.
“I regret it only because I put my state [Turkey] in a difficult situation,” Akdin replied, claiming that he killed the priest due to his “missionary activities.”
“I had been investigating topics about our religion for a long time. I had an admiration for nationalistic currents of thought. I read a manifesto titled The Confessions of Missionaries, which said that Anatolia would be Christian again and that Turks would be driven to the Central Asia. I was doing research on that continuously.”
Akdin said that he then learned there was a church in Trabzon and that he wanted to see what the church officials were doing there. He went to the church “out of curiosity” but shot his gun “in the face of a response he got from the priest.”
“When I went there, I saw Priest Santoro. My only purpose was to ask if they engaged in missionary activities. I asked him if he could explain why some young people are led [to believe] in Christianity

IRANIAN HARDLINERS ATTACK SWEDISH DELEGATION OVER HIJABS
Sweden’s “first feminist government” wore hijabs while in Iran but were blasted by hardliners for taking them off to sign a trade deal.
Sun, February 19, 2017
A Swedish delegation to Iran was heavily criticized for a decision to wear hijabs while in the country, in deference to Iran’s modesty laws, despite attempting to brand themselves as their country’s “first feminist government.”
Yet they were also criticized by Iranian hardliners who found their conciliatory approach did not go far enough.
Iran and Sweden signed five memoranda of understanding during the visit. The signings took place at the Swedish Embassy in Tehran, rather than at an Iranian location.
“In an unexpected and questionable occurrence, the ceremony for signing trade contracts between Iran and Sweden was held at the residence of the Swedish ambassador and not our country’s official institutions,” Hossein Shariatmadari, the chief editor of the Kayhan media outlet wrote on February 12, according to a translation by Al-Monitor.

Details Emerge of Canadian Teen Lovers Alleged Terror Plot
The couple will stand trial in September, both charged with four offences including possessing an explosive substance and acting for a terror group.
Teenage lovers from Montreal planned to leave Canada to commit a terror attack, possessed an explosive substance and were acting under the direction of or for the profit of a terror organization. That’s according to new details released for publication by a Canadian judge.
Sabrine Djermane and El Mahdi Jamali, now 20, were charged with four terror-related offences each in the spring of 2015. They pleaded not guilty and will stand trial before judge and jury in September 2017.
It’s emerged that Djermane’s sister contacted police officers just days before their arrest, saying she was concerned her sister was radicalized.

WHY IS THE WORLD FLOODED WITH WEAPONS?
The global arms trade is at the highest it’s been since the end of the Cold War, fueled largely by Middle-Eastern purchases, according to a new report.
Fueled largely by increased arms purchases from Middle-Eastern states, the global weapons trade is at the highest level it has been since the Cold War ended, according to a new study released by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).
“Transfer of major weapons in 2012-16 reached their highest volume for any five-year period since the end of” the Cold War, SIPRI said in a statement.
“Over the past five years, most states in the Middle East have turned primarily to the USA and Europe in their accelerated pursuit of advanced military capabilities," Pieter Wezeman, Senior Researcher with the SIPRI Arms and Military Expenditure Programme said. "Despite low oil prices, countries in the region continued to order more weapons in 2016, perceiving them as crucial tools for dealing with conflicts and regional tensions.”
Saudi Arabia has increased arms imports by 212 percent, according to the study. The Middle East region as a whole has increased from purchasing 17% of global arms to 29%.

POLL: SHOULD THE US PUT BOOTS ON THE GROUND IN SYRIA?
A Defense Department official told CNN that US ground forces could be deployed to Syria to fight ISIS. Is this a good idea?
The American government is reportedly weighing the possibility of sending soldiers into Syria to fight against the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL), according to defense department officials
"It's possible that you may see conventional forces hit the ground in Syria for some period of time,” the unnamed official told CNN.
The Syrian Civil War has raged since 2011 and has been a humanitarian catastrophe. If the United States places boots on the ground, this is the situation they will be entering
Map of who holds what as of January 2017. (Photo: Creative Commons)
President Assad’s regime has repeatedly been accused of war crimes against Syrian citizens. It is most notorious for the tactic of indiscriminately dropping barrel bombs on civilian areas, dropping some 12,958 in 2016 according to one NGO. Amnesty International recently revealed at least 13,000 people were executed between 2011 and 2015 in just one military prison, Saydnaya.

The regime is backed by Russia and Iran. Chinese advisers have also been sent to aid Assad.
Russia is currently carrying out air strikes against rebel targets. America and France have called for investigations into possible war crimes, including during a UN Security Council session where American, British and French delegates walked out. In January 2017, the Russian Ambassador to Turkey Andrey Karlov was killed by a jihadist terrorist shouting, “We die in Aleppo, you die here.”

After the initial 2011 uprising, Assad initially lost large amounts of territory to secular and Islamist rebels. He was able to stabilize his position with the aid of Hezbollah, the Lebanese Shiite terrorist group which entered the war sometime in mid-2012 and fought its first decisive engagement with the Al-Qusayr offensive of 2013.
From left to right, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, then Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmedinjad. (Photo: © Screenshot from video)
Iran provided extensive lines of credit to finance the war and frequently resupplies the regime from the air. In 2015, a spokesman for the UN envoy to Syria said Iran was spending $6 billion annually on financing Assad. Elite Special Forces from the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps supplemented by Basij militiamen provided supplemental troops.
Bolstering the official military are the National Defense Forces consisting of the paramilitary wing of the Baath Party and irregular militia groups, including specifically Christian and Alawite groups fearful of a massacre should jihadist factions win. Shiiite volunteers from around the region have also been recruited and sent in by Iran.

Assad and his allies stand accused of deliberately empowering jihadi factions so as to present the West with no choice but support him against jihadi factions. In 2011, he deliberately released extremists as part of an amnesty so as to empower jihadi factions, according to a former regime security official. In February 2015, then President Barack Obama called on Russia to stop bombing “moderate” rebels.
The regime holds the coastal strip, including the Russian naval base at Tartus. It holds the capital Damascus, despite partial rebel control of certain suburbs and recaptured Aleppo, Syria’s second city, in December 2016.

The rebels are split between a constantly fluctuating myriad of factions, with groups frequently changing their names, joining together or breaking apart to form new splinter groups or coalitions. Ideologically they range from the secular democratic to Salafi-jihadist. However, secular democratic factions affiliated with groups like the Free Syrian Army failed to gain enough support, arms and ammunition to gain and hold territory and are consequently almost irrelevant on the ground.
An FSA fighter dodges sniper fire. (Photo: © Reuters)
In the north, a coalition of rebel groups are advancing against Islamic State territory with Turkish support. They currently are in the process of capturing the strategically important town of Al-Bab. The Turkish army’s involvement is ostensibly about creating a “safe zone” to protect Turkish interests south of the border, however they have been accused of invading Syria in order to prevent the Kurds from consolidating gains they have made fighting against ISIS.
Turkey’s Operation Euphrates Shield began 500 years to the day after the original Ottoman invasion and conquest of Syria by Sultan Selim I, which many have argued is not a coincidence but rather points to Turkey’s neo-Ottoman ambitions.
Turkey has also been linked to a string of connections with ISIS, purchasing ISIS oil and failing to prevent jihadists from crossing its porous border to access Syria. During the siege of Kobane, Turkish forces did nothing to help the beleaguered enclave and instead actively prevented Kurdish men from in Turkey from joining the fight, firing tear gas at activists trying to cross the border.

A pocket in the North-West around Idlib and an area in the South-West next to the Israeli border are held by jihadi factions, many backed by Saudi and Gulf donors who are under domestic pressure to help the rebels. Saudi Arabia and other countries are also interested in countering the regional influence of Iran.

In 2013, the Arab League gave members explicit permission to arm and back rebel factions.

Groups such as Ahrar al-Sham and the Islamic Front have formed various coalitions at different times to present a united front against Assad, whom they regard as the primary enemy.

These factions have also been accused of war crimes, such as executing civilians and deliberately burning buses sent to evacuate civilians from rebel held areas of Aleppo.

To the east, Kurdish factions such as the YPG have successfully defended Kurdish areas against Islamic State encroachment, joined by a smattering of Western adventurists and anarchists. YPG battalions also form the backbone of the Syrian Democratic Forces, a coalition of militia groups formed in 2015 which includes Arab, Syriac. Christian and Turkmen factions backed by U.S. logistical support.

However, Turkey oppresses the Kurdish minority within its territory. The (originally Marxist-Leninist) PKK and breakaway factions carry out terrorist attacks in Turkey to attempt to achieve rights for the Kurdish citizens of southern Turkey. Consequently Turkish involvement in Syria is partially to frustrate Kurdish dreams of an independent state. In October 2016, Turkey bombed a Kurdish militia affiliated with a U.S. backed force. For their part, Kurdish forces have vowed to fight Turkey directly against anything they regard as encroachment. The U.S. has to carefully balance supporting the most successful faction on the ground at fighting ISIS (the Kurds) without alienating its NATO ally (Turkey).

However, Amnesty International accuses the YPG of forcing ethnic Arabs and Turkmens to leave villages they liberate at gunpoint and razing houses on the grounds that these Arabs might support the Islamic State. Western foreign fighters have also been reported leaving the YPG because of the group’s socialist tendencies. Furthermore, some Assyrian Christians and Yazidis accused Kurdish factions of disarming them ahead of the ISIS onslaught in 2014 and of refusing to allow them to return home after liberating their villages.

ISIS still controls a significant swathe of eastern Syria, centered around its de facto capital of Raqqa. Although they have been losing fighters and territory, they are still one of the most powerful factions in the war and retain thousands of soldiers. Even as the regime captured Aleppo, ISIS was able to retake the ancient roman city of Palmyra from the skeleton force left to guard it. Even though they are losing territory, ISIS is expanding their influence in refugee camps and seeking to carry out more attacks internationally.

Given this very complex ground situation, should the U.S. send ground troops into Syria?

MARYLAND MOSQUE MEMORIALIZES ISLAMIST ASSASSIN
A celebration was held at a mosque in Pikesville for Mumtaz Qadri who killed a Pakistani governor critical of the country's heinous blasphemy laws.
MARYLAND MOSQUE MEMORIALIZES ISLAMIST ASSASSIN
Thu, February 16, 2017
A mosque in Maryland held a celebration in honor of an Islamist assassin who killed a governor in Pakistan for speaking about against the country’s heinous blasphemy laws.
As reported by Rabwah Times, the Gulzar E. Madina Mosque in Pikesville, Maryland, hosted an Urs celebration, a traditional commemoration reserved for saints and holy people, for Mumtaz Qadri who killed the governor of Punjab province Salman Taseer in 2011.
Qadri was Taseer’s bodyguard and was incensed that Taseer called for the reform of Pakistan’s controversial blasphemy laws. Taseer had also expressed support for Asia Bibi, a Christian woman framed for blasphemy, arrested and sentenced to death in Pakistan.
Blasphemy laws in Pakistan, which carry the death penalty, are often used to exact revenge against Pakistan’s mistreated minority populations. Often, just the hint of a blasphemy accusation will spark mob violence resulting in death for the person charged.
After Qadri shot Taseer to death, he was lauded as a national hero. More than 100,000 people attended his funeral and riots ensued for weeks after he was arrested, tried and hanged for his crime. He is viewed as a saint by a large sector of the population and a shrine is being built in Pakistan to memorialize him.
The Urs event at the Maryland mosque was advertised in the Urdu Times, the largest Urdu newspaper in the U.S. Rabwah Times reported a robust turnout, with participants including young children and teenagers.
The speakers included Syed Saad Ali, an Islamic scholar based in New Jersey, who chastised the crowd, saying:
“Warrior Mumtaz Qadri kissed the noose in love for Prophet Mohammed When Qadri was in jail for five years. What did we do? What effort did we make (for his release? Why did we not go where he was being held? Qadri did everything for us and for the love of Islam and we could not even stand by him? People say Islam teaches peace…..I say Islam teaches us ghairat (honor). Who will now stand up?”
Ali also praised another killer, Tanveer Ahmad, a British-Pakistani man who stabbed to death Asad Shah, another British-Pakistani in Scotland. Shah, from the Ahmadi sect, made posts on social media that Ahmad deemed blasphemous.
Speaking about Ahmad, Ali said,
“Our warrior Tanveer, who is sitting in a jail in Scotland, I don’t know if someone knows or not, when that Mirzai (Ahmadi) spoke his ‘sacrilegious rubbish,’ he went there and stabbed him 27 times, and the police arrested him and right now he is in a jail in Scotland. So if we just take a step forward, angels will automatically come for our help. But what Mumtaz Qadri has done is something amazing, he has surpassed all these warriors.”
Another speaker, Baltimore-based Imam Ijaz Hussain, stated, “Mumtaz Qadri was not a terrorist and whoever says, “We are with you O Prophet” cannot be a terrorist.”

WHAT MAKES WESTERN WOMEN WANT TO JOIN ISIS?
With over 40 Australian women lured into joining ISIS, a new study helps to better understand ISIS’ effective tactics in recruiting women.
BY CODI ROBERTSON Tue, February 14, 2017
A new report written by Sofia Patel at the Australian Strategic Policy Institute explores the persuasive techniques used by Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL) on Western women. This is of increased importance as ISIS has lured over 40 Australian women into its ranks.
According to Patel, it is a mistake to view female ISIS members as taking on merely passive roles as jihadi brides. Their roles have evolved to warrant consideration as “perpetrators and preventers of terrorist attacks.”
The report also sheds some light on how ISIS has been successful in its recruitment of Western women. The group’s main strategy is to offer a narrative of empowerment. And it is not difficult to see why such a narrative would prove successful as women seek empowerment all over the world.
The terror group promises its female recruits missions of “divine responsibility and duty, [and] promise[s] liberation and an idealized, utopian existence in the caliphate.”
It is not uncommon for any person to seek greater meaning and purpose in their lives. But the kind of Westerners with whom ISIS has had the most success seem to have an even greater yearning for meaning and purpose.
It is telling that the report finds that these tactics do not actually express how ISIS really feels about women, which is a completely different story. In actuality, ISIS sees the primary value of women as helpers to maintain the male mujahideen (jihadists) numbers.
The report also found that women who are successfully recruited by ISIS are seeking a feeling of sisterhood that is based on shared experiences and goals. In addition, they seek adventure, romance and the reclaiming of spirituality

WHY HAMAS' NEW LEADER IN GAZA IS MORE EVIL THAN THE LAST ONE
In secret elections, Hamas chose its senior military man Yahya Sinwar, who is described as ruthless and extremist even by Hamas standards.
BY MEIRA SVIRSKY Tue, February 14, 2017
In secret elections, Hamas chose Yahya Sinwar to head its operation in Gaza. Sinwar, described as ruthless and extremist even by Hamas standards, emerged from the military wing of the organization versus previous leaders who were chosen from the political wing.
He has been characterized as an “ideological purist” who killed Palestinian collaborators with his bare hands.
In his acceptance speech, Sinwar spoke of resorting to all measures to free Hamas prisoners from Israeli jails, recognized as code words for the green light to kidnap Israeli civilian and soldiers to use as bargaining chips.
“His victory indicates that Hamas’s military wing, which is more hardline and extreme than the political leadership, has taken charge of an important position in Hamas’s leadership,” noted expert Shaul Mishal, speaking to the The Jerusalem Post.
“Palestinians who have met with Sinwar characterize him…as someone who speaks in apocalyptic terms about perpetual war with Israel,” reported the Israeli daily Haartez.
Sinwar was arrested in 1988 by Israel for his role in killing Palestinian collaborators as well as his involvement in terrorism against Israel and sentenced to four life terms in prison. He spent 22 years in prison before being released in 2011 as part of the prisoner exchange for Israeli soldier Gilad Schalit.
In that exchange, 1,027 Palestinian prisoners were released for just one Israeli soldier. Sinwar was against the deal, saying Hamas should have held out for better concessions from Israel.
While in jail, he was successfully treated in an Israeli hospital for a brain tumor, as Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Dani Dayan tweeted: “Israel saved the life of newly elected Hamas leader in Gaza Yahya Sinwar from a brain tumor. Now he vows to annihilate Israel.”

NINE-YEAR OLD PLEDGES ALLEGIANCE TO ISIS IN UK

Meanwhile in Turkey, authorities are investigating a number of ISIS schools in Istanbul. Radicalization of children remains a key goal of ISIS
A nine-year-old British boy stood up in class and pledged allegiance to the Islamic State terrorist group, he told the media.
Teachers informed the government’s Prevent program, who came to the school and spent a year holding de-radicalization sessions with the child.
Identified only as Haroon and now aged 10, he told the BBC Radio Four’s Today program how he became entranced with the terrorist group following the Paris attacks in 2015.
Haroon began searching for information about the group over the internet. Initially, he found news stories and a Channel Four documentary, but then accessed Islamic State propaganda material directly, including beheading and torture videos.
He also said he had been bullied at school and called a “terrorist” by his classmates, which drove him to Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL) propaganda.
"I saw men with hands behind their backs. They were hit and told to sit down. That's when they cut their heads off,” Haroon said.
"On a weekend, everyone was outside playing, so I would sit freely in the living room with the computer.".

FOUR MUSLIM GROUPS REJECT US COUNTER-TERROR FUNDING
For these groups, their image is a higher priority than actually fighting radical Islam and helping their communities
BY RYAN MAURO Mon, February 13, 2017
PrintPrintEmailEmail
Four Minnesota youth from the Somali community who were convicted of terrorism-related offenses.
In a revealing trend, four nonprofits groups involved with the Muslim-American community have rejected federal funding for countering violent extremism. For these groups, their image -- as well as making a political point – is a higher priority than fighting radical Islam and helping their communities.
The four Muslim groups had been privileged to receive Homeland Security grants to support their efforts to “counter violent extremism,” a generic and politically-correct term that the Obama Administration used to avoid verbiage related to Islam.

THANKS TO SECURITY OFFICIALS, THESE TERROR ATTACKS WERE STOPPED
Clarion Project thanks security personnel in the U.S. and abroad for preventing these five terror attacks.
Clarion Project thanks security personnel in the U.S. and abroad for preventing these five terror attacks.
Sun, February 12, 2017
1) Mohammed Jalloh, 26, of Sterling, Virginia was sentenced to 11 years in prison for providing material support to a terrorist organization. After two attempts to join the Islamic State overseas, Jalloh returned to the U.S. and talked to an undercover FBI agent about carrying out a Fort Hood-style attack. He also sent hundreds of dollars to an undercover FBI employee whom he believed was a member of Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL).
2) Four people were arrested in southern France in a raid which French officials say prevented an “imminent attack.” The arrests included a 16-year-old girl who pledged allegiance to ISIS in a recent video posted on social media. The raid uncovered a bombing-making factory stocked with chemicals used in the November 2015 attacks in Paris and the March 2016 attack in Brussels carried out by ISIS.

GEORGETOWN PROFESSOR CONDONES RAPE AND SLAVERY UNDER SHARIA
No flap has ensued at Georgetown University after one of its professors declared, 'It’s not immoral for one human to own another human.'
A Georgetown professor of Islamic studies sent shockwaves through the academic and secular world for a lecture he gave essentially condoning Islamic slavery and nonconsensual sex (that’s academic for “rape”).
That would have been the opening sentence to comment on such a lecture if we lived in normal times – which we don’t. The lecture in question actually created very little stir – neither at the university where he is employed nor elsewhere save for some very astute blogs (see here and here) deconstructing the professor’s astonishing breadth of obfuscation.
In a lecture (see below) at the International Institute of Islamic Thought (a Muslim-Brotherhood-linked group) and in subsequent questions and answers following his talk, Georgetown Islamic Studies professor Jonathan Brown, a convert to Islam, declares:
“It’s not immoral for one human to own another human.”
He waxes poetic about the great life a slave has under sharia law (versus slavery under white men in the South) without actually defining that life. Perhaps, as Clarion Project has done, he should get his information from a Yazidi girl from Iraq.

https://www.clarionproject.org/analysis/poll-majority-europeans-want-halt-muslim-immigration
POLL: MAJORITY OF EUROPEANS WANT HALT TO MUSLIM IMMIGRATION
Poll: Majority of Europeans Want Halt to Muslim Immigration
The survey asked respondents in ten countries if “all further migration from mainly Muslim countries should be stopped.”

The survey asked respondents in ten countries if “all further migration from mainly Muslim countries should be stopped.”

A majority of survey respondents in eight out of 10 European countries agreed with the statement “all further migration from mainly Muslim countries should be stopped” according to a recent poll.

The survey, conducted by leading international think tank Chatham House, polled over 10,000 respondents.

The strength of agreement varied by country, with 71% in Poland, 65% in Austria, 53% in Germany and 51% in Italy to 47% in the United Kingdom and 41% in Spain.

An average of 25% said they neither agreed nor disagreed with the statement. In no country did the proportion of people who disagreed with halting immigration from mainly Muslim countries exceed 32%.

The results are stark. They indicate a Europe which is fed up with the problems associated with Islamist abuses: terrorism, rape, inter-communal violence and a population which is willing to countenance measures which previously would have been regarded as extreme to halt it.

High profile terrorist attacks have rocked Europe over the past two years. Attacks on the offices of Charlie Hebdo, the Bataclan theatre, the Bastille Day parade in Nice and a Christmas market in Berlin are among a string of atrocities which have made people angry.

At a vigil following the Nice attack, French Prime Minister Manuel Valls was booed by the crowd who shouted, “You are the terrorist!” at him. An IFOP poll conducted for Le Figaro indicated that 67% of French citizens did not trust the government to deal with terrorism.

This is despite the widespread of troops.

In Germany, Chancellor Angela Merkel’s warm welcome of refugees and migrants from all over the world has soured with her constituents. Events like the mass sexual assault attacks on New Year’s Eve the past two years, for example, have raised public ire. Opposition to Merkel’s open door refugee policy was instrumental in pushing the populist Alternative fur Deutschland party to victory in elections in Merkel’s home state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

Opposition to immigration was already high in Europe before the current wave of mass immigration due to issues not purely related to Islamism, but over concerns relating to the economy, the amount of available housing and over what it means to have a national identity in an increasingly diverse country.

For example, the 2013 British Social Attitudes Survey indicated that 56% of the public felt immigration should be “reduced a lot” while a further 21% felt immigration should be “reduced a little.” In 2011, an Ipsos poll recorded over 65% of respondents from Spain, Italy and the UK as either partly agreeing or strongly agreeing with the statement “There are too many immigrants in our country.”

Racism should also not be ignored as a contributing factor. Maajid Nawaz, an ex-Islamist and now counter-terror activist, describes in his autobiography the horrific bigotry he and members of his Pakistani community were subjected to growing up in the UK.

A study done by Amnesty International recorded an 87 percent increase in hate crimes against racial, ethnic and religious minorities in Germany from 2013-2015. Similar increases were recorded by government officials after the Brexit referendum in the UK. A 54% increase in hate crimes was recorded in Austria from 2014 to 2016, which the Interior Minister explicitly linked to the migrant crisis.

While Europe has many issues besides the problem of Islamism to contend with that exacerbate anti-immigrant sentiment, the specifically anti-Muslim sentiment highlighted by this poll would be alleviated greatly by a more direct effort to tackle Islamist ideology as well as more concerted efforts to improve integration and build a more cohesive society.

FIVE REASONS THE MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD IS A TERROR GROUP
The bill to designate the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization is experiencing pushback. Here’s why the detractors are wrong.
Please support Clarion Project’s campaign and petition your local elected representative to support the bill to designate the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization
“For more than 30 years, Muslim Brotherhood associated movements and parties have been a force for democratization and stability in the Middle East.” Professor John Esposito, the Director of the Bridge Initiative, made this remark in a submission to the House Judiciary Committee, when asked to provide evidence concerning the proposed bill to designate the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization.
Here are five reasons his claim is false and the Muslim Brotherhood should be listed as a terrorist organization.
1) Its stated goal is the establishment of an Islamic State
MORE
https://www.clarionproject.org/analysis/five-reasons-muslim-brotherhood-terror-group

According to the original bylaws of the Muslim Brotherhood, the stated goal of the organization is the restoration of an Islamic state as a system of government ruled in accordance with sharia. Article 2:E of the bylaws, as posted on the Muslim Brotherhood’s English-language website as recently as 2011 and recorded by the Investigative Project on Terrorism reads “The need to work on establishing the Islamic State, which seeks to effectively implement the provisions of Islam and its teachings. Defend the nation against the internal enemies, try to present the true teachings of Islam and communicate its ideas to the world.”
In 2012, when Muslim Brotherhood candidate Mohammed Morsi was running for president, his candidacy was launched at a rally at which the man introducing him, Safwat Higazi, declared “We can see how the dream of the Islamic Caliphate is being realized, Allah willing, by Dr. Mohamed Morsi and his brothers, his supporters, and his political party.” Translation by MEMRI.

PENN. MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO AIDING ISIS, THREATENING MILITARY
Jalil Ibn Ameer Azaz, 20, tweeted a list of more than 100 service members with their pictures and addresses with instructions to kill them.
A young man from Pennsylvania pleaded guilty this week to two felony charges connected to aiding Islamic State and targeting U.S. military personnel.
Jalil Ibn Ameer Aziz, 20, who was born in the U.S., published on Twitter a list of more than 100 service members along with their pictures, rank and addresses with the message: “Kill them in their own lands, behead them in their own homes, stab them to death as they walk their street.”
In addition, he sent out communications on close to 70 different Twitter accounts as well as on an encrypted messaging application spreading propaganda from Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL) and trying to help people travel to their “caliphate.”
Military personnel on Aziz’s lists were notified of the threat and precautions were taken.
Aziz was arrested in Harrisburg in December 2015. A search of his parent’s house where he lived netted five high-capacity magazines, a balaclava and other potentially incriminating belongings.
In one of his tweets, he expressed his desire to travel to Islamic-State territory, saying he would buy a Yazidi girl there when he arrived.

ISIS Created Chemical Weapons in Mosul University
The Pentagon announced that Mosul University, ISIS' headquarters in the city, was used by the terror group to produce sulphur mustard.
Wed, February 8, 2017
Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL) used its headquarters in Mosul to make chemical weapons, the Pentagon announced January 7, reported Al-Monitor.
Coalition forces, in their steady assault to retake the Iraqi city, found chemicals inside the university, which the terror group had claimed as its control center.
The university was liberated last month. Booby traps set by the jihadis in the heavily-damaged buildings made a thorough investigation difficult.
However, tests confirmed the university was “central to the ISIS chemical weapons program,” stated Pentagon Spokesman Navy Captain Jeff Davis. “They have received positive samples; that is indeed what was going on there."
Davis said the chemical, sulphur mustard, was “used primarily as an irritant and something to scare people," rather than an agent of death.
Since the beginning of the assault on Mosul in October, coalition forces have captured most of the eastern parts of the city. The western part of the city still remains in ISIS hands.

The Party’s Over: Treasury Dept. Clamps New Sanctions on Iran
Intent on holding Iran to the nuclear pact, the Trump Administration sanctioned Iran's burgeoning ballistic missile program.
Intent on holding Iran to compliance with the nuclear pact the Islamic Republic agreed to in 2015, the Treasury Department sanctioned Iranian companies as well as individuals who support Iran’s burgeoning ballistic missile program.
Ballistic missiles are mainly used to deliver nuclear warheads.
The new administration’s National Security Advisor Michael Flynn declared the sanctions mark the end of “turning a blind eye to Iran’s hostile and belligerent actions toward the United States and the world community,” as reported by The Hill.

‘BECOME A SUICIDE BOMBER’ Posters Hit London
The posters are an attempt to compare suicide bombers to the crew of a British naval nuclear submarine.
Posters calling on the public to “become a suicide bomber” have appeared at bus stops across London. The posters purport to be recruitment posters for the Royal Navy, but feature a picture of British naval servicemen in the crosshairs of a sniper rifle.
“The crew of our nuclear submarines are on a suicide mission," the text reads. "To launch their missiles means death is certain, not just for them, but for the millions of innocent people those bombs will obliterate, and for the rest of us too.”
The posters were made by a political activism group called Special Patrol Group and designed by the British artist Darren Cullen.
“The inspiration for the project came from finding out that the crew of a nuclear submarine would not survive the deployment of Trident,” Cullen told The Telegraph.
"I'd never heard this discussed before. When we think about Trident we don't tend to imagine the crew out on a suicide mission.
"It struck me as another example of the ethical double standard we have in the West when it comes to which types of violence we condemn.

EGYPTIAN UNIVERSITY FIRST TO FIGHT AGAINST THE SCOURGE OF FGM
As the world commemorates the Int’l Day for Zero Tolerance for FGM, an Egyptian medical school becomes the first to teach against the practice
The head of the obstetrics department in the Faculty of Medicine at Al-Zagazig University Dr. Abd el-Majid Sarhan said he will not wait for the high council of the universities to include anti-female genital mutilation (FGM) course materials in the curriculum of the school.
He will begin to teach against it immediately.
Speaking to the well-known Egyptian news outlet Alyoum A-Sabi (The Seventh Day), Sarhan said he will include a series of lectures that include materials and different methods of combatting FGM to his sixth-year medical students, marking a first in Egypt.
The assistant secretary general of the high council of universities said he was open to receiving curriculum proposals against FGM from the heads of the departments of obstetrics and gynecology from medical schools across Egypt.
FGM is a brutal procedure involves the cutting out of all or part of the external female genitalia. The practice is normally carried out on young girls just before or after the onset of puberty, but is also performed on newborn babies and older girls.

IRAN'S DOCTOR DRAIN
The economic reality of Iranian physicians is so bad they are now forced to live in poverty or leave the country for opportunities abroad.
Economic insecurity for physicians in Iran is an increasing problem in the Islamic Republic. After years of college and medical school, one would think that a physician would be considered a national asset, like in all other countries in the world.
Yet, in Iran, many medical professionals are forced to sell mobile phones or drive taxis part times to make ends meet -- or leave the country in search of better opportunities abroad.
Fifty percent of Iran’s general physicians are either unemployed or not active in their field, the state-run Alef website reported, citing head of Iran’s General Physicians Association, Alireza Zali.
Living conditions for physicians have deteriorated to an extent that many medical school graduates are even resorting to jobs in construction, according to a report posted on the state-run Tabnak website, working on projects belonging to former Revolutionary Guards chief Mohsen Rezaie.
“These physicians have very low incomes and live in poor conditions,” Zali said in a report by the official IRNA news agency. “Recently, the Health Ministry said the highest income some physicians are earning is around 18 million rials a month (around $465) … [even] after 20 years of experience there are physicians earning [only]12 million rials a month ($315).

ISIS Biting Women To Death With Metal Torture Devices
The notorious all-female Al-Khansa Brigade is torturing women to death for minor infractions like not wearing black socks.
Sun, February 5, 2017
What scares residents of Mosul living under the Islamic State the most is when they see the Hisbah (morality police) in the marketplace and the narrow streets. They know they cannot avoid their head-to -toe checks.

Several chilling stories about the outrages perpetrated by the morality police were told to the press by a woman in her twenties identified only as S, who spoke to the Russian outlet Sputnik (Arabic) in Iraq on the condition of anonymity.

Faten (aged around 10) committed the crime of briefly stepping out over the threshold, while cleaning. Women and girls are not allowed to leave their houses alone. The Hisbah’s female al-Khansa brigade in Mosul made Faten’s mother choose who will receive punishment of being bitten – her or her daughter.

Thinking the bite would be a simple bite with teeth on the hand, the mother decided the daughter should receive the punishment.

But the ISIS women produced a hideous metal biting device, with poison on the teeth. The device tore Faten’s flesh in various places. The poison didn’t have even time to do its job as Faten bled to death from the wounds.

Similar punishments were administered for infractions including but not limited to:

Breastfeeding a child outside the house

Not wearing black socks or black sleeves
Lifting a full face veil
Wearing high heels
Wearing a jilbab (floor length robe) that isn’t black
Wearing shoes that aren’t black
Having a purse that isn’t black
S. also shared the story of a woman who went to the market and lifted her veil slightly to check the merchandise (she couldn’t see it properly). She was immediately set upon by members of the Hisbah, who ordered her to sit on the ground while they lashed her 30 times on the spot.

No one in the market acted to help her, because they were afraid they would get the same treatment.

The woman made it back to her house, but died from her injuries a few hours later.

S. told Sputnik that she’s tried not to leave the house for two years. Every time she puts on the veil she feels dizzy and nauseous and her blood pressure goes up.

“I never felt like I was a human being. Why all of this black clothing?” she told Sputnik. “It’s like I’m getting into a bag and it’s closed on me so I can’t even breathe or enjoy the sun. When I go out in the car or visit my relatives, … I don’t dare to wear the kind [of transparent veil] that shows the eyes because the people of Al-Hisbah focus on the eyes and can estimate the age of the girl. If she’s young she is more likely to be targeted for abuse. For

this reason, I prefer to cover myself totally.”
