Re: Meditation Chip Brogden

Post  Admin Yesterday at 10:31 pm

Hi Elaine,

I'm teaching a weekly Bible class because I actually BELIEVE that the Bible is the written Word of God.

I teach it because I read it and I believe it - ALL of it.

I teach it because the Institutional Church only teaches part of it.

I love finding things that the religious system can't explain or doesn't want to talk about.

That's why I love the Book of Revelation.

And tonight I'm going to try and wrap our hearts around this "Great Multitude" before God's throne.

Who are they, where do they come from, what are they doing, and why are there so many that no man can number them?

To support the study I'm going to share...

"10 Big Bible Promises the Church Doesn't Explain"

(There's plenty more than 10 but we only have an hour to discuss them.)

Why don't they talk about it?

Because, properly understood, these Bible promises contradict their religious traditions.

Easier to ignore them than to embrace them.

But we're going to dive in, starting in a few hours...

Hi Elaine,

Daniel 7:10 talks about 10,000 X 10,000 standing before the throne of God to be judged.

That's 100 million.

A big number, right?

But you CAN number it - it's not beyond calculation.

Revelation 9 talks about a destructive army of 200 million.

That's a big army - yet you can still number it.

But there is another group of people in the Bible so big that no man can number them.

And you find them in a most unexpected place.

Here they are in Revelation 7 - "a great multitude" of people surrounding the throne, worshiping and praising God.

So many that "no man" can number them!

Compared to the "millions" that can be numbered, I would guess the ones you can't number are in the billions.

Wait - if only "a few" will be saved, how do we find this great, innumerable number of people praising God in white robes?

Hmmm... maybe Scripture is showing us something that we have failed to properly appreciate.

Join us this week as we dig into the mystery...

Entering His Rest
by Chip Brogden
There is more to the Christian life that just getting saved. That is the first step into a larger world. Jesus is continually calling out to you, saying, “Come to Me, and I will give you rest.” That is a progressive thing. It is a daily thing. Every day we come to Jesus, everyday we hand over something else, every day we learn to rest in Him, and trust in His life.

Hi Elaine,

Someone recently commented that for the first time, they are hearing the Book of Revelation taught from a perspective of HOPE.

If you're tired of the typical "end-of-the-world" doomsday scenarios then you may find this series most refreshing.

Still room for you on tonight's online class, if you haven't registered already.

Hey Elaine,

False prophecies always sounds more compelling than the truth.

According to some folks, the "end of the world" is happening on September 23.

If it is, I say, "Great! I hope so. The sooner, the better."

Except people have been saying this every September 23 for a few years now.

I doubt it will happen, because I don't think God will reward all those Internet hacks.

The rest of us will continue to plod along very slowly through the Book of Revelation, prayerfully considering the many layers of interpretation and meaning - not setting dates or creating hysterical predictions, but seeing the plan and purpose of God unfolding.

His purpose is to seek and to save the lost, not destroy them.

And if you've been following this teaching series then you know why the 7 Jewish feasts are "interesting" for their spiritual symbolism and prophetic significance - but that does not necessarily mean we can set our watch or mark our calendar by them.

Regardless, I'm going to keep doing what I've been doing until the Lord returns or calls me home.

So this week we will study...

Religion, or Spirit and Truth?
Chip Brogden
Both were brothers. Both gave an offering to the Lord. Outwardly speaking everything seemed fine. But the Bible says that “the Lord accepted Abel and his offering, but the Lord did not accept Cain and rejected his offering” (Genesis 4:4b,5a).

At first glance the Lord’s decision to accept Abel and reject Cain seems rather arbitrary. Both worshiped the Lord, and both brought the Lord a sacrifice. What makes one acceptable and the other unacceptable?

Hi Elaine,

Last week's webinar had to be rescheduled for this week, so I'm sending out another invitation (in case you haven't already registered).

We're studying the Book of Revelation, and we're just getting into the 7 trumpets.

It's a good time to discuss the 7 Feasts of Israel and see how they fit into our understanding of end-time events.

Very interesting!

Dealing With Difficulty
by Chip Brogden
"...Satan hindered us”
(I Thess. 2:18)

We should not expect things to always go as planned, even when we are indeed following the will of God, and especially when we are trying to do what we feel led to do. Sometimes it seems as if everything is rising up against us. Cars break down, people get sick, misunderstandings arise, businesses fail, things happen.

We do not want to give the devil any glory and attribute everything to him. But we do want to discern the true operation of the enemy so we may dispose of him. We must exercise discernment and wisdom to know the difference between the hand of the Lord, the work of the enemy, and the natural environment. Otherwise we will suffer unnecessarily...

Hi Elaine,

Hard to believe we are already in September!

As we continue our weekly teaching I think we are only just beginning to uncover the biggest misconception about the Book of Revelation.

We project onto Scripture our view of God.

If we see Him as angry and willing to destroy the earth to make His point, that's what we see in Scripture.

If we see Him as loving, willing and able to save the earth, that's what we see in Scripture.

I am teaching this from a Christ-centered perspective, meaning, I intend to show Christ as the focal point - not the Beast or anything else.

In addition, I believe Jesus Christ is the same "yesterday, today and forever" (Heb. 13:8).

The way some people teach it, Jesus' mission and message changes when the Tribulation arrives.

First, Jesus is meek and loving and accepting.

But if you don't believe in Him, He becomes angry and ready to blow you up!

"Receive Him now, or fear Him later!"

Seriously?

This is how Religion compartmentalizes aspects of spiritual truth it cannot reconcile.

Fear, rather than Love, motivates Religion.

The truth is, the mission and message of Jesus are still the same.

The Son of Man has not come to destroy lives, but to save them (Lk. 9:56).

He will always be the Savior, not the Destroyer, of men's souls.

It is the devil who comes to steal, kill, destroy, deceive the nations, seduce God's people, and lead them astray from the simplicity of Christ.

But the Son of God was manifest - revealed, unveiled - to destroy the works of the devil (1 Jn. 3:8).

These Scriptural truths are reinforced in the Book of Revelation - IF we approach it with the proper view of God.

Join us this week to see how it all fits together.

Let Us Build for You!
by Chip Brogden
“Lord, it is good for us to be here!
Let us build for You...”
Luke 9:33

Self permeates so much of what we do (or do not do), even in spiritual matters where Self is supposed to be denied. Peter is a man full of himself. So his reaction to the glory of the Lord is, “It is good for us! Let us build for You…” This is how many works, denominations and ministries are begun. The Lord sovereignly reveals something of His glory to a handful of people, and they begin to build something – a church, a movement, a denomination – in order to contain that glory. Or, the Lord visits His people in a particular meeting or setting. It is good for us: so we decide to meet again the next week in hopes that we can experience more of the same. And so on. We believe if only we can find the right combination of music, or teaching, or worship, or people, then it will be “good for us” every time we meet. Soon, however, the Life is gone and the glory is departed, but the meetings continue!

“I will build My Church,” Jesus says. That is Life. “Let us build for You,” Peter says. That is Death. To see if a thing is living or dead we need only trace its source. Not only is “let us build” wrong, but “let us build FOR YOU” is equally wrong. Each is motivated by the same thing: “It is good for us...”

How to Keep the Sabbath
by Chip Brogden
“The Son of Man is Lord
even of the Sabbath day.”
Matthew 12:8

We who are in Christ do keep the Sabbath, but the Sabbath for us is not a day of the week. It is certainly not a day for attending religious services. It has nothing to do with the calendar. If we want to keep the Sabbath we need only abide, continue, and dwell in Christ, as the branch abides, continues, and dwells in the Vine. For the branch is resting in the Vine. The branch does not struggle or worry or force itself through sheer effort to produce fruit. Instead, it simply lives in union with the Vine, and in that sense, it rests. It trusts in the Life of the Vine to produce the fruit. And this is the principle of the Sabbath rest.

How disappointing that the harlot church – the religious system – does not teach you how to enter into rest. It wants to immediately put you to work. And so you wear yourself out, trying to be holy, trying to be more like Christ, trying to please people – the pastor, the elders, your fellow church members. And you sometimes feel as if you can never do enough. You can never give enough, you can never volunteer enough, you can never attend enough. And my, the guilt you feel whenever you say no, or whenever you feel as if you aren’t doing enough!

Hi Elaine,

Who are the 144,000 who are sealed in the Book of Revelation, chapter 7?

Are they Messianic Jewish evangelists?

Are they the only ones who go to heaven?

Or, is there something symbolic about them?

Am I one of them?

Are you?

Tonight we will take a fresh look at who they are and why it matters.

You still have time to join us...

Why am I doing this?
Hey Elaine,

The elementary teacher had an unusual assignment for her third-grade class that day.

“This is a treasure hunt!” she said.

The teacher gave a detailed description of a certain kind of BOOK.

“If you find this book at home, let me know, and you will receive a special prize,” the teacher said.

One little girl named Eun went home, looked for the book, found it, and excitedly reported back to her teacher the next day.

She received her special prize.

But when she returned home, her parents were gone.

She never saw them again.

The country was North Korea.

The “certain kind of book” was a Bible.

The little girl had unwittingly reported her parents to the authorities, who promptly came and hauled her parents away to be tortured, imprisoned, and possibly killed.

And yet, people will get on Facebook and talk about how “we don’t need the Bible because we have the Holy Spirit” and “Jesus is the Word of God, the Bible is just a book.”

It must be nice to live a free country where you are free to express whatever stupid opinion you like while living in ignorant bliss of what the rest of the world suffers on a daily basis for following Jesus.

But I shared this story with you to highlight WHY believers from around the world gather with me once a week to do a Bible class online.

Mostly, because we CAN.

We have the freedom to pray, worship, read, and teach Scripture.

We have the freedom to grow, learn, and even express our faith in Jesus.

And we see the Bible as more than "just a book" - we see it as a written, Holy Spirit-inspired testimony that leads us into a more perfect knowledge and revelation of Christ.

So often we take our freedoms for granted – until they are taken away.

Let’s make the most of every opportunity we have.

This week's class will be from...

The Mystery of the 7 Seals
Hey Elaine,

Are we living in the Last Days?

Worse - are we already living in the Tribulation?

Some think think the seven seals are being opened as we speak.

Others think it still remains for the future.

Still others think it's all in the past, nothing to worry about!

Who is right?

More importantly...

What does Scripture say?

Everyone has an opinion, but not all opinions are equal - some are just regurgitated from popular books, movies, and preachers.

I'm always suspicious of the popular opinion.

We discovered last week that there is a historical precedent for a scroll sealed with seven seals - a beautiful symbol of God transferring ownership of the Earth to His Son.

This week we see those seals beginning to be broken so the scroll can be read.

But what does it all mean?

Doom and gloom, or mercy and grace?

Join us for this week's online class to view all this from a Christ-centered perspective:

The Infinite Supply of the Lord
by Chip Brogden
“Master, we have toiled all night, and caught nothing: nevertheless, at Your word, we will let down the nets” (Luke 5:5).

If we were to interview several Christians I think we would find many of them are like Simon Peter. They work and they toil but seldom do they see any result. So they become frustrated and tired. It seems as though they are running in quicksand. All too often they give up, thinking the Christian life is too difficult. Or they become “burned out” and leave the work the Lord called them to do.

There is only one solution for “burn out”. If only we would see that the Christian life is “not I, but Christ” (Galatians 2:20ff) we would see that God’s way is not for us to toil all night and catch nothing. We have our limits, and after a night of failure, we are ready to go home. So the key is to rely on Someone Who is limitless, and not make a move until we hear from Him. It is never a question of my own resources, but of His. I will always fail, but He cannot; therefore, I trust in His Life to do what I cannot do, and the Infinite Supply of the Lord is released.

We continue our Christ-centered study of the Book of Revelation with chapter 5, and we understand why a Christ-centered faith is so essential: because...

NO ONE ELSE (but Christ) IS WORTHY.

Religion tricks people into believing that somehow they are more "worthy" than their unbelieving family, friends, and neighbors because they keep the commandments, go to church, read the Bible, or prayed a prayer back in 1952.

However, from the perspective of Heaven, no one in Heaven or Earth is worthy of anything - except One.

THAT is preeminence!

In fact, they searched Heaven and Earth for someone worthy enough to break the seals and read the scroll - buy they couldn't even find some worthy to LOOK at the scroll, much less open it and read it.

This is an astonishing revelation that exposes the lie of religion and legalism.

Only Christ is Worthy.

To "walk worthy of our calling" is to walk in Him Who alone is worthy; there is no worthiness in walking outside of Him (in fact, that's the root of the problem - walking outside of Christ, pretending God approves of everything we do).

You are only accepted "in the Beloved" because He is the only one who is acceptable to God - outside of Christ, all of us are unacceptable and unworthy.

Don't fight it - embrace it!

Because in Him, you are acceptable and worthy and valuable.

That's just one of the big takeaways from this week's online class:

Ziklag: The Test of Kings
 Chip Brogden
David turned tragedy into triumph. He passed the Ziklag test. He did not have his crown yet – that would come later, but that did not matter right now.

He did not need a crown or a throne to prove he was a king. His kingship was demonstrated there in the rubble of Ziklag, where he learned to encourage himself in the Lord His God.

I believe that every one of us will, at least one time in our life, come face-to-face with a Ziklag experience. Everything you have in this world is either taken away or burning down right before your eyes.

Friends, I have learned that when things like this “come to pass” in your life, you have a choice. You can get bitter, or you can get better. Six hundred men chose to get bitter. That is the easy path. One man chose to get better. That is the narrow path.
Kings are anointed by God and selected based on how they respond to situations like this.

How would you respond?

Chip Brogden

"Come up HERE, and
I will SHOW you..."

Hey Elaine,

It's easy to get lost in this present world - so consumed by the cares of this life, the urgencies and happenings on Planet Earth, the politics and power struggles, "breaking news" and public opinion - that we lose our ability to see things from the perspective of Heaven.

We cannot make sense of earthly things with earthly wisdom.

You're not going to figure it out by looking around at what's going on, watching the news incessantly, or listening to television preachers trying to make sense of it for you.

That's why the Voice from Above in Revelation 4:1 invites John (and us) to "COME UP HERE" to see what is really going on, and what to expect.

That's the secret!
"Come up HERE..."

And so, Revelation 4 marks an important transition in our teaching, when we leave behind the cares and concerns of the ekklesias in Asia, take a big step back (and UP), and begin to consider THE BIG PICTURE from the perspective of the Throne of God.

This BIG PICTURE is bigger than me, you, or the Body of Christ.

Exciting stuff!

Will you join us?

The class starts in two days...

Revival, or Reformation?
by Chip Brogden
There have always been some who not only recognize the glaring deficiencies of what the church is, but are grieved and troubled by what they see, to the point that they cannot remain content to let things continue on, but are compelled to do something about it.

Of these blessed few who choose to stand up and speak out against the religious system, the response seems to fall along one of three approaches. As we will see, only one approach is harmonious with the prophetic example set forth in the history of the people of God, and it is the one approach that seems to be the last resort instead of the first recourse. But let us consider them in the proper order.

This is How the Word is
SUPPOSED to Work...
Hey Elaine,

Here is an email I recently received from someone attending the Revelation series of teachings.

"I just had to drop you a note to thank you so much for doing this webinar on the Book of Revelation... These teachings have touched me deeply. It has caused me to really examine myself and honestly it upset me terribly.... I love that you spent much time teaching about the letters to the 7 Churches......you were right about most (if not all) skimming over that part of Revelation.  All I have ever heard from that Book was judgement. Thank you for your boldness in telling it as it is in the Word of God. I pray that it touched others as much as it has touched me. Your work is not in vain and I thank you so much again."

What I like so much about this person is they didn't argue, fuss, defend, get mad, or unsubscribe like a spoiled little baby when they heard something that made them upset or uncomfortable.

Instead, this person allowed the Word of God to convict and change them.

As a teacher, it really doesn't get any better than that! :-)

All of us must allow the Holy Spirit to speak the necessary word of correction - and if we refuse, then it only proves that we are steeped too deeply in Religion to hear the still, small voice of Relationship telling us when we need to get over ourselves.

We must be adjusted to HIM, and get past this crazy idea that somehow God has to adjust Himself to us - He doesn't, and He won't.

The purpose of revelation is not substantiate your illusions about God, but to eliminate them.

So I hope you can join us online as we proceed through the Book of Revelation - lingering quite awhile over the messages to the seven ekklesias of Asia - to discern what, even NOW, the Spirit is saying to the you and to me if we have ears to hear.

Him We Preach
by Chip Brogden
When people touch Christianity today they are mostly touching a religious way of thinking or living or acting or talking – not Biblical Christianity, but mere Churchianity.

They are touching external things such as where, when, and how church services are to be conducted, things such as which nuance of church doctrine is correct, and so on. But seldom do they touch a real Person, and seldom are we able to get at the Person Who stands above and beyond all these other things. Compared to Him it is all so much minutia, all so very petty.

Well, all I can say is Paul did not get lost in minutia. Once he caught sight of Christ he never let go of Him...
